Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Are th+ere any other sticks besides the expensive Qanba stick & the newer Hori HRAP4 Hayabusa that have headphone jacks?
Only other stick I know of with a headphone jack is the Mayflash F500. It has its own catches, such as needing a PS4/XBO/360 controller connected to the stick for it to work on those respective consoles, as well as its generic joystick & buttons.
Granted, Mayflash released workaround dongles that can be used in place of an OEM controller, but I can't guarantee that they work in the long run, plus they cost extra money.

Edit: The upcoming revision of the Brook Universal Fighting Board will have a headphone jack as well.

So I want to get the HRAP 4.

However, this stick review page of it having horrible input lag is turning me off from it. Is that test still accurate?

PS4%20Arcade%20stick%20lag%20results.png
I've had a HRAP4 since early this year and I've had zero issues with lag. I have heard similar things from other HRAP owners.

I've heard a lot of people say that the teyah chart exaggerates quite a bit and I would be inclined to agree. Don't take it as gospel.

So I have an offer from someone who is selling a fight stick, but the door hinge for the cable storage is broke. Is there a cheap and easy way to fix it?

now that i don't know, but it was definitely an issue with one of the runs of the TE2. some kind of problem at manufacturing i assume

I see.

So when it comes to modern hardware, what's the word on cross-platform sticks? These things are massive and cost $200+. I can really only afford to own one at a time so I need it to work with a wide variety of platforms.

Firstly, is there any way I can any decent amount of money for selling my old PS3 MLG TE1? Getting a new stick with mean replacing it. Right now I'm looking at eStarland (I'm within driving distance of it) and prices indicate they might give me a little over $100 for it.

For getting a new stick I'm checking out this guide: https://bestgamings.com/best-arcade-stick-fight-stick-2016/
The chart says the latest HRAPs get you both PlayStation and XInput compatibility which is what I really need. My PS3 stick gets me through just about anything on PC because PC fighting games have the wherewithal to have DInput... except motherfucking Street Fighter V. Software solutions are getting me a lot of complications I don't want to deal with anymore. I need something that gets me XInput but also still works with my PS3 games. I have a PS4 but am avoiding PS4 FGs/arcade games because of all this stick compatibility bullshit.

Depends how its broken. Those things are usually held in by little plastic tabs that are very flimsy (especially on Horis) so if those break, RIP.

Someone is offering me a RARP 4 in great condition for $75. But one of the door hinges is broke so sometimes the door comes out when it is opened. I'm not sure if I want to buy it or not.

Do you guys think I should bite and sell my TE2+?

I'm assuming you're from the US.
How much compatibility are you talking about?

PS3/PS4/XInput:
Latest revision of the HRAP4 should do the trick. Should only be $150, but I need someone else to verify as I don't remember the details.

The Qanba Carbon, at $69.99, seems to be the cheapest PS3/PS4/XInput stick available.

PS3/XInput:
Either the Qanba Drone or the Mayflash V2 will work.

Universal Compatibility:
Mayflash F300 or Mayflash F500, but those sticks require connecting an official PS4/XBO/360 controller to the stick to work on those respective consoles.

The Brook Universal Fighting Board is a PCB with native support for everything.

How do you tell the difference between HRAP4 revisions? The ones I'm seeing online are just DInput on PC.

Easiest/quickest way to tell is if it has a strip of text on the right side of the artwork that has labels for the buttons that are on the right of the case. That wasn't there for the original release.

this is my fav retro stick :D used this at canada cup last year actually. lost to itazan with it - i should've asked him to sign it...

i've seen that Virtua Fighter stick a few times. Only thing holding me back on it was it just had 3 buttons.

As a rule of thumb do any fight sticks like the Hori edge go on sale? Or do I just buy them new because they are limited run.

Fry's Electronics might sell them cheap from time to time, but AFAIK they're only the standard HRAPV line. I don't recall seeing a Fighting Edge on sale. Maybe arcadeshock coupon codes will bring the total down if they're running a promo tho.

I have this big dream to make a mini 2 player pc bartop but have the controls be modular and pop out. (Basically two arcade fight sticks placed into a recess)

So I need two (one player) boards and whatever. Any good cheap ones 1 should be on the hunt for? Xio mi any good?

Any good sticks I can salvage? Will be buying my own sanwa and seimetsu parts, just need a board and cables.

Also I am in Canada.

I also want the monitor to rotate. Big dreams...

I used 2 Hori FC4s in my arcade cabinet

For my Fighting Edge PS4 upgrade I used:
https://paradisearcadeshop.com/fgc-...4-fighting-board-with-paradise-breakout-.html

which is also cheaper without a breakout if you dont mind soldering it:
https://paradisearcadeshop.com/fgc-console-joystick/1630-brook-ps3ps4-fighting-board.html

Or more expensive if you want Xbone compatibility:

So I needed a stick that would work on my PC and my PS4. In the end I got a Mayflash F300 (the newest is the F500) and that will work on basically anything,

At first I thought it would be anoying using it on PS4 because of the need to have a DS4 plugged into it. However you can just set it to PS3 mode and it works with SFV just fine as a legacy controller with no DS4 attached. It also works perfectly well on SFV on PC.

I wrote a guide on modding with Sanwa parts it as well:
http://awignall.blogspot.co.uk/2016/08/mayflash-arcade-fightstick-f300.html

Its a bit smaller than a lot of sticks which for me is great as it fits in a draw I have under the TV perfectly. Anything bigger and I would have no where to put it.

Well I'll be quietly waiting than. I want to not spend more than 150 on a stick and I hope some coupons come my way to bring overall cost down. Do the arcade shock guys do coupon codes often?

Anytime there's a major tournament, a lot of shops will have a coupon running. Usually its either 10% off or free shipping, which equal close to the same thing.

How difficult was it to put the brook in your fighting edge? Were you able to wire the touch panel to work with it?

How difficult was it to put the brook in your fighting edge? Were you able to wire the touch panel to work with it?
It wasnt too bad. I'd take a picture but I lent it to a friend.

The touch panel works, not as fully as it does on stock fighting edge since all the button reconfiguration is gone, but I was able to do some interesting things like wire the "Select" touchpad button to the "Touchpad Press" on the brook, and then wire the Config button on the touchpanel to the brook's "Share" button. Ends up with more functionality than my TE2 because of that.

To get the touchpanel working you need to wire the LEDs for it, as well as the digitizer to a 5V with a resistor. After that you can just wire the button wires from the touch panel as normal. I also put the lightbars on the left and right to a 5V with a resistor and they work great, though I didnt take the time to try and make them swap red/blue, they are always blue.

So what's everybody's suggestion between the HRAP4 and the Mayflash F500?
HRAP4 is bigger, has quality stock parts, and native PS4 support including touchpad.

Mayflash F500 is a decent size and weight, but stock parts are ok at best. It has "universal compatibility" so long as have a spare PS4/XBO/360 controller that you can connect to the stick. There is a "TPAD" button but no one knows what exactly that does.

Both are good choices so long as you know what you're getting into. HRAP4 is simply-put a quality stick out of the box. The F500 is good for customization and multi-console flexibility, but may be illegal at tournaments due to the controller-attachment thing.

are you looking for a stick you can use right out of the box on ps4/3/pc or a stick that will need some part replacements but works on all consoles? cause you'll eventually want to replace the parts on the mayflash, which puts it at the same price as the hrap4.

My Qanba Crystal shipped yesterday and should arrive today. I'm planning on replacing the parts immediately, but I could give impressions on the stock stick if people are interested.

So I brought a Hori RAP4 Kai, but one of nubs broke off from the cable compartment door. I was able to talk down the price, but is there anyway to fix this?

A photo here before swapping out the parts. If possible. I'm still on the fence. This baking about going in on the second batch they just put up.
