"Working hard" is the big clue for the next reveal. Who works harder than Waluigi and Dedenne combined? When you've worked that out you've cracked the case!

Ridley works
out
so hard he's anorexic, while Palutena has to constantly work hard while looking after the entire human race and make sure Viridi or Hades isn't going to just go ahead and kill a few billion people for shits and giggles.

In Jamaica Pokemon is called Pokemon.

There's a few people here on GAF who don't assume ridiculous things based on screenshots. I'll give em credit no matter how few in number they might be.

I'd wager most people here and elsewhere don't "assume" anything. What the screenshots do to is spawn ideas and spark conversations; I don't think I've seen anyone act otherwise. The closest we've come would be the Palentuna leak, I'd say--but that one was also pretty darn convincing.

When's she going to be confirmed anyway?
lol

Did you forget the Lucario shitstorm?

But wasn't most of the Lucario gibberish in the Lucario thread? Most of the SmashGAF regulars seem to have a better grasp on Smashality.

You're forgetting the RPG titles. Some of the Mario Party games also had original characters in some boards (like the Koopa Kids/Mini Koopa in earlier titles). Yet, none of those ever made it back to the main Mario games. In fact, we got Bowser Jr. after the Mini Koopa, and Galaxy went and created the Luma even though Paper Mario already had the similar Star Kids.

It just doesn't seem like the teams handling the main series ever look at the additions made by the side games. It seems to be a strictly one way street even when they easily could have been used by the main series rather than original concepts/characters.

Yes, but we're not talking about the chances of the Koopa kids or the Star Kids appearing in Smash, either. You're just proving my point that Waluigi is basically a throwaway character who doesn't belong in Smash because he's as important to the Mario series as the Koopa Kids from Mario Party or the stars from Paper Mario.

Again, Toadette makes a cameo in the main Mario titles, making her more important to the Mario series than Waluigi, and she's literally just a token girl Toad created to be partnered with Toad.

(Also, I'm specifically excluding Super Mario RPG from the discussion because its unique characters are owned by Squeenix, so they won't appear. And Geno really is the only one people seem to want anyway, and I'm heavily against him for exactly the same reasons; as a matter of fact Geno is even less important than Waluigi.)

kinda sorta?

Not really tho. The blue guy resembles Waluigi, but I wouldn't outright say it's him. Might as well be a coincidence.

That's the closest thing Waluigi has to a Wario Ware appearance. A thin blue Wario in a sea of other colourful Wario doppelgangers. Don't take that away from Waluigi otherwise he'll be left with nothing!

Updated on time and is watermark-less!

Dedenne is cute, like a Marill and Raichu combined. I think its electric attack either rotates or goes in random directions since the way it is now doesn't seem like it is an 'X' aligned with the stage like the X-Bomb.

Also, quit with the "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Rosalina & Luma got in, but Waluigi didn't! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" What Sakurai thinks is what matters. He saw the potential of Rosalina and Luma being together with the Luma acting like a stand.

I keep saying this, but it seems to fall on deaf ears, but I'll say it again. Every character has different scenarios for getting in, no two are the same.
lol, gets me every time.
We can only hope.
Cancelling the superior version would be dumb...
Now children, please behave yourselves.

One of the worst pokemon for today. I don't see why it (or Plusle/Minun, or Pachirisu; even Pichu for that matter) would ever be acknowledged in anything. It's not detrimental or anything, I'm just not impressed. I'm sure Sakurai's feelings are hurt now that I posted this. :P

Nice gif of the day though. Can't believe Armada made it back from that. o.O

Love the thematic feels to this pic with yesterday's

So ... what can be other non playable characters that work hard for tomorrow's pic ? xD

It's either that or buy a Wii U, so I think most people will settle for the handheld version (like me).

Yeah, tons of people WILL be buying the inferior handheld version. Inflection is everything.

This is like saying a FPShooter will sell best on handheld because the install base is larger there.

It's a fighting game, fighting games don't do very well on portable consoles.

Both Melee and 64 sold 7 and 5.6 million copies respectively on a 22 and 33 install base, so I think it's safe to say that Smash 4 will get at least 3 million on the Wii u, and I doubt the 3DS version will get near that.

Smash isn't a normal fighting game, and appeals to a different audience than, say, Street Fighter IV. You can't judge how it would sell by comparing it to other fighting games. Plus, most people aren't going to want to spend $300 on a console just to play one game, especially when they can get the exact same experience from the version for the handheld they already own.

A) *Rolls Eyes*

B) I agree that most people won't but plenty of people do all the time

C) Similar? Sure. Exactly the same? No.

A) I was hoping that I could get my edit though before someone quoted my sarcastic "Smash ain't a fighter" comment.

B) Smash ain't CoD.

C) Yeah, different graphics, stages, trophies, etc. But I'm pretty sure the core gameplay will be almost exactly the same, and most casual buyers won't research the differences anyway.

I'm certainly not buying a Wii U for Smash. Might split it four ways with my brothers, pick up Mario Kart too... but if it has a decent Download Play option, not going to happen.

This is why I think Nintendo should get the Wii U version out first. Give people the incentive to buy the system.

Some people often talk about Paper Mario himself though. Also, unlike the Koopa Kids, Waluigi was brought back after the developers attempted to eliminate him.

Aside from Mario RPG and Paper Mario, there's also Mario & Luigi.

Again, Toadette makes a cameo in the main Mario titles, making her more important to the Mario series than Waluigi, and she's literally just a token girl Toad created to be partnered with Toad.

Her design was used as a generic female Toad in that one Galaxy art because Toad is just used a generic design in the main games...

Because Smash isn't a normal fighting game, the portable format becomes even more incompatible with it. How many people can arrange local multiplayer sessions with 3 other 3DS? Yes, this game will have online, but the restrictions to local multiplayer from the portable format likely will hurt part of Smash's appeal anyway. In Japan, it's not a problem, and might even be an advantage for portables, but in the West? Just look at Monster Hunter or even general 3ds features like Streetpass. It's clear that there's a difficulty in bringing many 3ds together in the USA and Europe.

So a 15 year old series that was always on consoles that's also popular for its 4 players couch gameplay will now sell best on a handheld that will hurt your hands if you play intense or long enough(I have a 3ds and play MK7,always hurt my hand if I play more than an hour) besides this is the first Smash game on a handheld so we really can't say it will sell more on 3ds as we can't compare it to past games.

The highest selling fighting game sold only a million on the 3ds and it was a launch title and it was a 2 player fighting game, a 4 players party fighting game won't pass 3 million on the 3ds I think. If it did then that will be impressive.

It was also a late port though. We don't know yet if the 3DS version of this will be.

Edit: I don't know why anyone would buy only the 3DS version, unless someone has just forbidden them from buying a Wii U or something. It's also pretty crazy to me to think about not picking up the 3DS version though. Both all the way. Any controller besides a GCN controller isn't great for Smash, but I'm hoping the pro controller will be a decent substitute. Might need to buy some adapters.

Theres a reason most of the media is showing the wiiU version, and to a small extent, why most of the screenshots are usually wiiU from sakurai, aswell as posting 1080p screenshots on facebook. They're putting into the mind of everybody that the wiiU version is the superior version, or atleast the version they want everyone to prioritize over.
Its the same reason activision has not shown the wii version of COD games in most media.

nice job comparing an obvious port of Street Fighter 4 to the 3DS version of Smash that's actually built for it
besides if we compared Super Street Fighter 4+AE sales vs the 3DS version, that's a 2:1 split that:
1) is for a game which suits the audience on PS360 much better
2) is for two consoles that have a combined install base more than 10x larger than the Wii U will ever sell

wrong, Activision isn't trying to push sales for the 360 or PS3 and they do it because the Wii version will obviously sell less

Was she though? She was huge in Galaxy, which is admittedly a really big game worthy of representing, but she's barely shown up as anything beyond an Easter Egg or special bonus since. In comparison, Bowser Jr. has been the second biggest antagonist in both Galaxies AND all of the New Super Mario Bros. games, and Toad (in various colors) has had three playable appearances, all of which were a lot more visible than any of Rosalina's cameos.

I think it's really a situation where Sakurai saw a character he wanted to work with and added her, even if she wasn't the most obvious or most demanded. It only seems obvious in hindsight.

Ehhh Bowser Jr.'s roles in the Galaxies were quite small. His dialogue was overly generic and he only provided a few boss fights. Big deal. Rosalina had a very touching, compelling story. When you play through the game you realize she probably has the most interesting story of any character in that game, and you see her in between EVERY level. How many characters have a whole book (in game) devoted to their backstory? Definitely not Bowser Jr.

As far as Toad goes, he's already Peach's neutral B. She'd have to get a new special move, or else the playable Toad would have to be a special one of some sort.

Oh man, I wasn't following the thread during that...I'm guessing everyone took it as confirmation as Mewtwo not coming back?

If so, then I retract my statement :P
You didn't catch the GameXplain discussion regarding Lucario's reveal that also said Mewtwo's return is unlikely now that Lucario is confirmed to be returning?
