Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

I'll need a source for this. In the Developer Direct he states Samus design so far has been based on Super Metroid (2:09 in the Developer Direct).
You don't need a source, you can compare the designs directly:

Brawl:

Zero Mission:

The Zero Mission design is essentially the Super Metroid design with some of the extra lights from the Metroid Prime design added onto it. So for him to say that the design in Brawl is based on Super Metroid isn't necessarily completely wrong. But in this case, I believe Sakurai misspoke, because the design in Brawl is absolutely based on the Zero Mission design, much like Zero Suit Samus and the Norfair stage were.

You know, usually I'd take a dev's word over anything...but there's simply no way SSBB Samus ISN'T based on Zero Mission judging by your images :D

Is it just me or is this thread getting boring?

Well, this week was pretty boring.

Outside of Palkia and Mother Brain (and there's not much to talk about bar the fate of Spear Pillar as a returning stage), it was just clarifying moves.

I think the reason they chose the names is to have different names for both the 3DS and Wii U version while not being confusing to the average consumer.

It doesn't indicate they are the same game, just bluntly says one game is for one platform, while the other game is for the other platform.

I think the big "Wii U" or "3DS" logo that's already on every case would let everyone know that they're on different platforms.

My point wasn't that they indicate they are on different platforms.

My point was that they want to treat them as different games. Sakurai has already said he considers Smash 4 to be the 3DS version and Smash 5 to be the Wii U version.

Woah, source please. That sounds a bit too odd even for him.

Eh, I doubt most consumers will buy each one for the different content. And those who do care would most likely know that the 2 games are slightly different.

It's not getting boring it's just we're at this point where Pic of the Day is not enough for us. We need more information than just characters in different poses. We need a Direct or even a minute long match between 2 already revealed characters so we can dissect the video so we can go into more in depth discussions.

Yeah, and it's on my birthday. :)

Only bad thing is it's bittersweet knowing I won't be able to play Tropical Freeze till the 21st. :(
Cool! My birthday is on the day after Tropical Freeze's EU release.

I probably won't be able to play too since I'm gonna be broke at the end of the month. Lol. :(

Please don't tell me this means that the 3DS version will release before the Wii U version? They can't be that stupid, can they?

...Yes, they can.

Source. I don't believe this at all.

It's gonna be hard lol. I remember reading it and thinking that is pretty weird. It was posted on GAF.

Yea, most people won't, but they do want people to buy both versions.

kid icarus uprising is smash 4, Smash for 3DS is smash 5 and Smash for Wii U is smash 6, but you need to buy the upcoming downloadable $40 'smash 5.5' from the eShop to get the complete
