Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

Mentioned it in the IRC, but looks like everyone who said it wasn't a Punch-Out stage can eat crow. ;)

Though I suspect it may be an Alfonzo mechanic and it takes on Punch-Out attributes when Little Mac is on the stage and reverts to the more generic Smash Ring when he's not.

mac is probably gonna be a monster, but his recovery is shit so once you get him off the ledge you have the advantage.

Looks like the Punch-Out stage was wiped out of all Punch-Out references before Mac was revealed.

Or at least it was an early version of that stage.

Very nice, I actually predicted a super-meter esque system for him.

And hey--they actually changed the logo at the center of the boxing ring stage to the WVBA logo.

Holy shit Mac looks AMAZING! Those combos, those effects, everything...

All hail Sakurai!

Wondering if those Doc quotes were just for the trailer or there's actually a "Doc's commentary" feature. Maybe taunt-activated? Even if they're just Codecs.

I need more Doc Louis in my life. :(
Punch-Out!! Wii U maybe? Please?

I think the "Smash-themed" stages (i.e. Boxing Ring, Battlefield, etc.) are going to be in both versions.
It's actually not a generic Smash stage--all of the generic Smash Bros. things have been replaced by Punch-Out references. It even says Punch-Out in the back of that screen.

EDIT: The corners also say "WVBA" on them. The logo at the center has become the WVBA logo. For whatever reason, Sakurai decided to really troll us with that stage.

So everyone was right in guessing that the stage was really punch-out. Gotta love Sakurai.

Is it possible characters who don't have representation across consoles and portables will be the ones to re-use levels?

Little Mac has no hand-held game.

Looking fantastic on 3DS.

Really happy the Punch Out stage is on it too, also looks as if the screen works too. They're doing wonders with the 3DS game.

Looks awesome. Sort of hope Doc Louis is integrated in some way though, I thought him commentating during the reveal trailer was cute. Maybe even as a Snake/Star Fox style taunt easter egg where he'll comment on opponents?

That and using Samus for the TOO SMALL gag during the intro makes me hope he's just similarly messing with people's heads in regard to Pyrosphere and
Kraid
.

Oh I know that the stage changed now, but I assume that it might be a similar treatment as Alfonzo on the train stage is, that it adds those Punch-Out references when Little Mac is among the fighters.
Of course it's going to be his "home stage", but I'm still thinking that the boxing ring itself might be considered a Smash-unique stage, much like Smashville in Brawl wasn't directly taken from any Animal Crossing game.

So everyone was right in guessing that the stage was really punch-out. Gotta love Sakurai.

Well, not everyone was guessing the stage was a Punch-Out!! stage. Several did, but a lot also said it wasn't, some even came up with the idea it was supposed to be Dedede's ring. :P

Little Mac Trailer is SO AMAZING. I really enjoyed the trailer, and it's sooooo amazing!

Yeah, I noticed that Punch Out Stage is in 3DS as well, so I guess it's "Smash" theme Tournament for Little Mac.

Now I have to updated my top 5 wanted characters since I got Mega Man, Villager and Little Mac.

1. Palutena
2. Takamaru
3. Pac Man
4. Isaac
5. Hunt Duck Dog

OK, my main in Smash 4 has just been announced. I was literally jumping on my chair when he was shown at the beginning of the trailer. I love quick characters and he has his freakin' meter, and he transforms in Giga Mac: Sakurai never disappoints!

Mentioned it in the IRC, but looks like everyone who said it wasn't a Punch-Out stage can eat crow. ;)

Seriously, it was plain and obvious.

It was always incredibly obvious it was going to be a Punch-Out stage. You don't put a boxing ring in a game about Nintendo all-stars and not make it a Punch-Out stage. :)

Little Mac looks amazing. I wonder if his Super Meter works like Roy's OHKO move? Charge up the punch, and if you charge it up all the way, it OHKOs the target.

Well there's one for the e3 leak thing.

Hmm...
The E3 leak is quite likely real.

Four of the six items on it came true -- Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Mega Man and Little Mac. And mind you, nobody guessed Wii Fit Trainer or Villager. Only the leak listed it, right before E3.

So that means Pac-Man and Mii would be among the newcomers yet to be revealed. :)

That Little Mac trailer was so hype. Really good stuff.

Anyways, gonna start posting these.

Samus pls.

Dat super armor. Probably his neutral special. It has crazy range and seems to be pretty powerful when charged and leaves Little Mac a little helpless trying to recover from the attack.

The Samus thing was a throwback to the Dojo:

As you can see, for the Little Mac AT they did the same joke.

Guess tonight's pic will probably be about Little Mac, maybe mentioning how the boxing ring is the Punch-Out stage.

It makes me wonder what happens to Diddy. Maybe he'll be a secret character this time around?

Oh hell yeah. For a character that "just punches", Sakurai did a great job of making him unique, especially with that meter. Also loved the little scene with Samus comparing heights. Really can't wait to try him out.

Though kind of expected, but Giga Mac as the Final Smash......eeeeehhhhh.

Made me mad that I missed the first 3 minutes of the Direct, thinking "Ahh, they would save Smash for last!" only to discover I JUST missed the reveal trailer, so I had to wait 40 minutes until the Direct was done to see it.

Little Mac looks super fun, can't wait to play as him.

I don't know why, but he definitely seems like the most "obvious" newcomer out of all the ones announced so far. Glad he made it!

Cool, thanks! Anyway Samus making size jokes can still be seen as a Ridley troll mode.
