Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

I was thinking about Little Mac's moveset ...

Considering what we know about smash ... maybe ^B Shoryuken and vB counter like the fire emblem people ?

So what else for >B and B ? =/
B - charged straight punch
Side B - punch combination
Up B - jumping uppercut
Down B - counter

Marth clone.

Not sure if posted, but after seeing this, part of me wants unique Target Tests to return even more:

I remember spending so much time looking for crappy quality videos of target test records back in the Melee days. I tried to replicate the strategies.

But I never could ;_;

The Target Test GIF for Mario has made me hyped and I'm gonna post one everyday starting today.

This is from a TAS though, but they're close to WR times and the video is a much better quality.

OOOOOWWWOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!

Please come back, Wolf! I can't live without you.

Yeah, he really needs to come back soon. I just wonder when Sakurai will actually reveal him... I'm thinking he'll just drop him in a picture on a random day, like he did with Marth.

I can't wait to see if Sakurai has altered him (as he's been buffing up a lot of characters), so I'm hopeful that Wolf actually has a reliable, workable up-b recovery this time. Plus, with the added hitstun of Smash 4 compared to Brawl (that can be seen in footage), Wolf is gonna benefit so hard from this.

Wolf is a great character. I play him as a mixture of both defensive and aggressive when punishing, compared to Fox where I'm much more aggressive and Falco where I play defensive. Wolf is a good mixup.

Can Sakurai make a character that's solely a command grab character. All their specials are a variation of a grab and they all have air grab variations.

A grapple character that's not Ice Climbers.

From Suplexes to Spinning Pile Drivers to Izuna Drops to Body Slams to Seismic Tosses.

Curious Heath, how are you keeping track of everyone's picks?
Anyway way to get a look at them? (I have an unhealthy obsession with these kinda statistical stuff :P)

Haha, alright I will explain.

The post that I made is the stats that I gathered from GAFs' predictions rosters so I can see how many people actually think that they have a chance or not. Click this to go to the stats.

Man, thinking of Pro Wrestling, one thing I'm looking forward to is (hopefully) getting 3D debuts for some characters, like Pit had. Mega Man sort of counts because it's such a great remake of the original design, but I want to see some old school characters updated that way. Even if they're just Trophies (which Melee did so well!) or ATs.

I guess we have Ashley, at least, to start things off.

We're now in "something from donkey kong franchise reveal" territory
eyes and ears open people, the next 2 nights(or mornings depending if we get a ND this week or next) are gonna be big.

I hope we get a DK Stage first, all the other Newcomers have had a stage to fit them revealed prior, or at the same time as their reveal (as was the case for Sonic), if I recall correctly. Exclude the dudes who were revealed in the initial trailer.

As much as it's probably gonna be from Returns, my dream Donkey Kong level is a beautiful 3D version of the Donkey Kong Arcade construction site, with a beautiful city in the background, girders on hooks that swing in from the side serving as extra platforms, and a sign in the background advertising "Stanley's Extermination" as a cute touch.

Basically like that one level in Street Fighter IV.

It's literally that without the backround in brawl, one of the last stages to unlock, with 2 songs which are essentially the same cept one has another beep in it or something lol

That stage sucks though.

I want one that's a 3D "modern" interpretation, with the annoying hazards removed. Just a really large, multi-tiered vertical level. Maybe add in some ladders for fun.

Tied for second place, I am sttttoked!

Just need Sheik to be replaced by Impa and I can take the lead and stuff!

It's funny to me because my roster was intended to be more a thought experiment than anything for a roster with no transformations, something which may very well happen because of the 3DS' limitations... something I didn't even consider at the time.

75m is possibly the biggest piece of wasted potential in Smash Bros. stages ever. Why would they choose 75m instead of the much more iconic 25m? Why would they leave it in 8bit style instead of reimagining it like they do for most stages? Why would they even make it a stage because it's absolutely awful to play on?

(Second place goes to New Pork City for similar reasons)

Right right.. But does that mean you're going thru all of the posts to update the rankings? Or do you have them stored somewhere else too?

Yep, I did. I went through all posts to updated the ranking, stats, etc. That's why I wouldn't update for other 10 characters or so.

hey Project M peeps, what's the single most lopsided matchup in that game?

There aren't many considering how PM is and how the game is all about matchups but if I had to choose, I'd say some of the most are Space Animals vs. Ness with Spacies as a hard counter to Ness even with his buff.

It's hard to say since it's only been 2 months since PM was out with only 1 relatively big tournament. The metagame hasn't completely developed yet especially since the game isn't FINAL.

If anything, Space Animals are top tier at the moment, but they're severely disadvantaged in that they're basically Melee versions of themselves and everyone knows what they can do. Every other character has the benefit of a new moveset and new tricks so it's hard to say.

Game and Watch is also hard countered by a lot of other characters.

Edit: Reasons as to why Ness is hard countered is because unlike Lucas, Ness doesn't have a tether recovery and his PK Thunder is largely unreliable since it's a single hit projectile rather than a multi-hit.

Ness also suffers from being light weight and a fast faller. He has options, but they're relatively low in priority. Ness's strengths lie in his aerial game and his grabs. Platform stages are his best bet so that he can abuse his DJC and get into the opponents face.

Other than that, Ness really does need to be buffed. He's not a bad character, but he's not up to par with the rest of the roster and relatively few people use in rather than Lucas. Lucas is the superior character if only for his stronger recovery and his "Jazz Hands".
