Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

Clean (but only the first one, don't think the second is on smashbros.com):

Now I'm slightly miffed that I can't find a Reyn variant of this meme on Google Image Search.

Look like some people mightn't noticed my post. Star KO will be in Smash 4 since it is Smash's traditional features.

Please take a look at this trailer, and you will noticed that there are no Star KO in this trailer because they had it turned off for trailers sake.

Also We have Screen K.O., so I'm pretty sure that it meant that Star KO is still in the game.

I hope that that screenshot means that front Star KOs are back to the 64 style instead of the Melee/Brawl crash against the screen (those were a little out of character for Smash bros, IMO)

Refresh my memory how exactly where their 64 counterparts?

So it's instant KO on all characters for the vast majority of all players. Got it.

all characters are lightweight now?
damn

No I'm saying it'll be as strong Ike's Eruption (instant KO without DI on most stages, KO at 5% when charged to Stage 8 with DI) and theprodigy is showing his competitive bias against Smash4 again.

Ike's Eruption does not kill at 0%, and besides I'd assume Little Mac's move has far less charge time than that

edit: and lmao at "competitive bias against Smash 4"

Are you saying all characters are lightweight, and that the vast majority of players leave the control stick in the neutral position when being hit?

I'm curious, how was the feedback on GAF concerning the unveiling of the final Brawl roster? People everywhere else seem to be just as delusional about roster inclusions as they were during Brawl and seem to be setting themselves up for big meltdowns. Smash boards in particular seems like they are really asking for disappointment.

It seems the GAF Smash community for the most part is just glad to get some new characters to try out, which is nice, rather than loading shotguns for if Sakurai doesn't add that 7th or 8th Mario or Zelda character.

did you see the Lucario thread?

Wow... Didn't think it was popular to think Mewtwo chances and Lucario were correlated. What the hell do they have to do with each other besides a charge up pulse attack? With that logic Samus shouldn't have come back either.
Literally nothing actually. Completely different moveset

I know taking this stance will (probably) severely decrease my popularity here in the thread (I'm not that popular anyway) but I really just don't want mewtwo back. Like at all. I would rather have a new character (especially a new pokemon). And I really just don't "get it" when it comes to this extremely loyal and vocal fan base with bringing him back? Anyway, that's just my two cents, don't bring him back and give me Hawlucha to satisfy new pokemon newcomer and a wrestling based moveset that is sorely lacking in Smash at this point.

They "fall" between the stage and the screen while spinning in a helpless animation and the Star KO voice clip would play, Kirby and Jigglypuff would be facing the camera (as they normal Star KO animation, teary eyes and all). Also Kirby keeps his copied ability, Falcon Kirby or Samus Kirby was too hilarious to watch.

Nah opinion respected.

Simple. He has the move set already, he's still a fan favorite, and sonic and delays sorta kept him from being in brawl sadly.

So, for newcomers:

- Villager
- Mega Man
- Wii Fit Trainer
- Rosalina & Luma
- Little Mac
- Diddy & Dixie
- Yoshi & Baby Mario
- Takamaru
- Chrom & Lucina
- Palutena
- Impa
- Ridley
- Mii
- Pac-Man
- F-Type *

* F-Type is from Stunt Race FX, and animates like an old-timey cartoon!

Character Select screen has 50 slots: All 35 from Brawl (including two vet/newcomer hybrids, Diddy and Yoshi); Mewtwo returns from Melee; the other 13 newcomers; and Random.

We'll get a Panel de Pon rep before we ever get a Stunt Race FX character.

Or maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.

I'm going to be fucking pissed if Diddy Kong is ruined for the sake of being another tag-along character.

I kind of remember it... but I can't totally recall it. IT sucks!

Does anyone have a video where this happens?

I wonder if we're having another WTF character... or is Wii Fit Trainer the WTF character already?
Game&Watch, R.O.B and Wii fit trainer...

F-Type would be ridiculous fun. His run would have him thrumming along like Wario's motorcycle. His wheels, fender, spoiler, and other appendages would stretch and contract in comically exaggerated fashion to deal out damage for melee attacks. He could stun foes with a flash from his headlamp eyes; he could spurt flames from his tailpipe; he could pop open his hood or car doors as a launcher move; he could drop oil slicks on the battlefield; he could blast forward in a nitro boost; he could tumble head over heels like a stunt racer; he could spin out; he could bounce on hydraulics; and more.

Ok, that's fair and reasonable then. Carry on.

Sure, but Wii Fit Trainer and Villager are far from a coincidence.

Villager and Mii comes from the interview that Sakurai said that they wanted to include then (and Nintendog ?) in the game but he could not since they are from not violent franchises...

Mac is an easy guess, Pac is an easy guess

Villager and Mii are "Sakurai does what he want now" guess

Wii Fit is the luck guess

everything togheter is just coincidence

What? No one could've known he'd change his mind about Villager and WFT is more than just a lucky guess. Nobody predicted her at all except that leak.

A stage 8 Eruption is Ike's most powerful attack, and it is strong enough to OHKO the majority of the characters in Brawl under usual circumstances. For example, only Bowser, Donkey Kong, Snake, King Dedede, Ganondorf, Ike, Captain Falcon, and Link can survive a stage 8 Eruption on Final Destination at 0% without DI or Momentum Canceling.

http://www.ssbwiki.com/Eruption

Guess the wiki must be lying then.

Can still be pretty much a coincidence

Little Mac was an "easy one" considering how many people mentioned him
It is a given because so many people have him on their wishlists? That logic makes no sense. How many people have Ridley on their wishlists (mine as well)? Is it a given?

No it's not, but you can convince yourself that anyways.

Sakurai's line of thinking for characters changed with SSB4. Nobody knew what his thought process for characters became until the initial trailer, so to guess Wii Fit Trainer and Villager (who was specifically mentioned to not be included in Brawl) is no mere coincidence.

Here's the leak post for those wondering what we're talking about:
My unlikely predictions: Little Mac, Pac-Man, Animal Crossing Guy, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, Mii.
And the follow-up post after the reveal on Gematsu: http://gematsu.com/2013/06/wii-fit-trainer-joins-super-smash-bros

Saw the video, why the heck is stage 8 more powerful than stage 9? Rewards the player for timing it right before it hurts Ike?

Before E3, IntelliHeath held a roster prediction contest, and over 120 members participated. Here are the percentages guessed on the now-confirmed "leaked" characters:

Little Mac - 60.51%
Mega Man - 58.83%
Villager - 0.84%
Wii Fit Trainer - 0%

So, no, it's not a lucky guess. Attending a week's worth of statistics classes should be enough to tell you that. Little Mac and Mega Man could be a lucky guess -- Villager and Wii Fit Trainer together is not.

He never claimed to know all of the newcomers.

He also never claimed to be a leaker at all, or did I miss something? If I would be him and would have guessed as good as he did, I would also follow that up with a mysterious " :) " posting, sit back and watch the people in here go wild. I'm not saying he's a fraud or something, but as far as I know, he didn't even claim to have real information. Maybe I'm not up to date or we're talking about somebody else, though.

Yeah, no.

Barely anyone guessed Villager because Sakurai had previously ruled him out.

Nobody was guessing Wii Fit Trainer. Can you imagine how quickly someone would get laughed out of town by the narrow-minded and unimaginative fanbase, if they suggested WFT as a newcomer? I like to think myself open-minded, and even I'd struggle imagining her, until Sakurai put all our imaginations to shame.

Few people considered Mega Man since the dialogue at the time was (and remains) that Mega Man is an abandoned franchise for Capcom, so he isn't "topical" enough.

Even Little Mac had his doubters because he's apparently not that popular in Japan.

It would be far, far, far more surprising if the leak was in fact coincidence, because the odds of guessing all three newcomers they showed at E3, with only six guesses, is astronomically low. Some people thought up 100+ possibilities and still didn't consider Wii Fit Trainer or Villager (myself being one of them)!

An anonymous source emailed Sal Romano the week before E3 saying that Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mac, Mii, Mega Man, and Pac-Man would be revealed for Smash Bros., and Sal Romano shared that information. The original source/"leaker" isn't the person who posted the smiley face; that was Sal, the person who received the email.

Oh, so Sal has since revealed how he obtained his information? Neat. :)

ok everyone pester sal now to give us more leaks

come on sal i want vids
Maybe he can lean on his source to at least clarify the Palutena "leak." :)

EDIT: Ah, top of the page. I'll repost this the newcomers I'd like to see:

I'd also be down for The Wonderful 101, Bayonetta and Paper Mario. :)
