Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

I don't recall it being said that Diddy+Dixie would have the lead character "transform" into the other. Wasn't it supposed to be a tag-team type of deal?
 
Sheik will transform into Dixie, Dixie will transform into Lucina.
 
Will probably be nothing more than a banana peel tonight, too early to announce new/returning character and 3 days since the fairy in a bottle.
Although I would love to eat crow and have some new stage revealed alongside Diddy
 
So I missed the Ridley discussion a few pages back so I made these, I wanted to know what you guys think. I wanted to see what Ridley would like, mimicking the art style of Smash Bros. Wii U. The Ridley renders that exist are really dark and gritty, so I took one of the renders and brought into Photoshop, added saturation to the color, readjusted his proportions and size. If Ridley looked like this, what would you guys think?

Great renders. They'd probably make his musculature a bit more "supple" (still lean, but more defined) and add a nice sheen.

Definitely too small. he needs to be notes l Bowser sized, minimum.
 
Sorry, I guess I'm out of the loop or something. Why is everyone so certain we're getting Diddy specifically revealed soon? Is CBOAT playing mahjong with Sakurai on his lunch break or something?

A smidge too small, actually. He would need to be at least a head above Samus, that'd ideally be done by stretching either the neck or spine out a bit. Otherwise it seems alright.

I personally imagine that Ridley would be quadrupedal on the ground though (as he's shown to be in most media).
 
Hey Legend of Cap, any way you can show us a version of that Ridley render where he's a full head taller than Samus (using Samus' head as the "head")? Either way he's going to clip through that platform on Battlefield (as does Samus, from the looks of it), so might as well see what a taller Ridley looks like.

Considering bunches of these characters go though changes in their games , that would constitute drastic changes in their movesets. They essentially none of them have been changed that much, I would assume thats proof enough.

No, while sakura doesn't see this game as competitive, on basic level there are fighting game sensibilities in these games. Like keeping previous characters relatively the same so people can go back to these characters.

Sakurai isn't going to change diddy kong and potentially piss off everyone who has ever played as diddy kong to appeal to some shit Idea places gaf had.

" You wanna know what sakura should do , fuck everyone else and completely change this characters move set because I had dumb idea. Because characters playing the same has never been used as an easy entry point into fighting games, nuh totally never been done ever. "

I really like your render, but I feel like Ridley really ought to be more hunched-over, perhaps even crawling. He's not often seen on the ground, but when he is he usually keeps himself very low to it - see Other M and the Prime games. Plus, if he's hunched down more on the ground they could get away with making him larger without making his hitbox too large.
 
Only Ridley's neck should be playable.

I really don't mind Other M's Ridley that much. His mouth/bill annoys me a little bit but other than that he isn't that bad. That stringy neck is more ridiculous. If Other M Ridley was in Super Metroid and they introduced stringy neck Ridley in Other M everyone would prefer the former making complaints like how is neck can even support his body, how you could snap his neck with little force, or how he could possibly eat anything or breathe fire with a neck that thin.
 
Sakurai should just make a "Smash" Ridley where he draws inspiration from a few original sources, but is an outright new design, while still immediately recognizable.
