Interesting stance...which I personally have for Dark Souls. I still bought it this Steam Winter Sale, but the annoying fanboys ruined any interest I had in buying the game at full price.

The silhouette idea is neat, but the execution is okay. What s/he probably should've done was make defining characteristics/traits a shade darker or lighter. In example, Marth's cape and Pits wings should be highlighted in this manner-- particularly Marth cuz his silhouette is a blob.

This is why I like this thread and community, despite our arguments and disagreements sometimes, everyone here is always willing to be helpful and friendly when someone needs it. I should be finishing up SM3DW this week and then I think I'll download the demo for W101 and maybe rent pikmin 3 for a day before making my decision. I got DKCR in wii for my little brother like 6 months ago, I hated the motion controls that they implemented but after hearing the new one eliminated those it seems tempting. Of course if W101 is as amazing as some say the cheaper price tag makes me lean that way. Anyway, thanks for everyone's input!

Yeah that's the only reason I think its not entirely impossible to have him in, cause Sakurai would see the potential in the moveset. He'd be a really interesting character there. Part of me thinks that if Sakurai were to consider a w101 character he would try to have all 7 in, and that would probably be a problem, and thus he would not do it :/.

Also I will never understand this logic. Never. I don't see how people being "pushy" about it would make you completely write off the game that has nothing to do with it.
The game completely flopped so of course people are gonna try hard to persuade others into buying it. It was a great game and almost nobody played it.

I was the same way lol. Got it for 6 dollars. I can't even properly put it in words but my annoyance at things like that can be so thorough that it's almost embarrassing to me (til I see double digit posts of said game again in a single hour in unrelated topics and feel completely justified since I am clearly causing them anguish with my snub).
For some reason though, Dark Souls is literally the only game I can think of having felt this way about. And i don't even dislike the game, it's kinda fun (if flawed).
I think their proportions are a bit off from their base design in any games I can think of, that might be why. Same with Mario and to a lesser extent Luigi and Sonic and Dedede. Villager is the biggest offender though. I still they they look really good in spite of that, I love the stained glass artstyle very much.

I play all kinds of games and it's extremely rare that a fanbase will so put me off to something that I don't even want to try it. The times it is true (Mother 3) are mostly "I'll get to it when I have time" and not really an active ward against playing it.
Then again, I'm the kind of person who thinks not playing something isn't a badge of honor of some kind.

It'd have to be pretty damn amazing to get over my initial dislike for it though.
It's not.
It's also the "how" truth to be told.
There's some games I've decided to try out cause of popular opinion (FE: Awakening, Virtue's Last Reward) but for most of them people argued reasonably
well why they were great & what their flaws were.
When I see people praise W101 in threads it feels more likes salestrolling to compensate for it flopping rather than anything tied to reason.

As cool as that looks, it might be too cumbersome imho. Some of the colors don't match the characters like Villager, Fox and Bowser. So sometimes it's going to be a bit hard to find the character in a (assuming to be) 45-50 slot character select screen. So like say you want to find Villager and you think red (because his shirt is red) and you try to find him but you keep looking at the red section instead of green. I mean yeah you'd eventually find him but it'd take a bit I guess.
Maybe I'm overthinking it though, but I'm going from a designer's perspective. I think it looks great honestly but not sure if it'd be very convenient is what I'm saying.
I guess what they could do is recolor some of the backgrounds to actually match the character's color scheme better.

Well I assumed it was something like that but with ANY game recommendation you will always just hear people saying whatever game is good and won't expand much on that and you will have others that will give actual good reasoning for why to play a game.
There have been plenty of well argued posts into why people think W101 is a good game, immediately comes to mind the couple of posts EatChildren did in the OP for the game and the GOTY voting thread.
This is false. The game is legit fun, I went in with lower expectations then most and came out loving it. People just fall in love with the game because of its frantic gameplay,the over the top power ranger/super hero design and feel, the humor,voice acting and just overall craziness. People just can't help but gush about it. Don't buy it if you want but just know people praising it don't really have an agenda other than wanting to alert people of potential fun they are missing.
Also don't bother with the demo it doesn't really do a good job of introducing the game.
Holy hypocrisy, Batman.

Meh, if he can be annoyed by people constantly repeating how awesome a game is supposed to be, then I'm allowed to be annoyed by him judging a game he hasn't even played.
The megaman, Pit, Samus and marth are cool design wise. The Olimar and WFT are probably the most wearable.
Lots of fans of games are loud because they want other people to try it. Something something empathy something something. They just want more people to try it because they themselves liked it. That isn't a reason to not try it.

I have annoyed at least one W101 fan, my revenge is complete.
W101 is okay, but there were mechanics with the aesthetic that were just unappealing to me. It's super mediocre and repetitive in my opinion. I loved Okami, Metal Gear Rising, and Viewtiful Joe--and beat and fairly enjoyed Vanquish, though that game quickly fatigued me (just like W101).
I disliked Bayonetta. It just did not jive with me at all, and I gave it a few chances of marathon playthroughs. Anarchy Reigns I have no opinion of, it's cool conceptually...
Anyways, my point is that I kinda feel that people are super defensive when they're fans of a game and it did poorly sales-wise. And I can easily see that being a major turn off.

I don't know that much about Xenoblade, but I love that track. If Shulk makes it in, this should play in his announcement trailer.
If Shulk is not playable all Xenoblade battle themes should be in the game as compensation.
