Me too. Everyone and their uncle have been waiting for a Super Wario Bros. game, but Waluigi in WarioWare seems like a safer bet.

Nintendo just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Waluigi fans (I'm an expert), but respect and honor are huge parts of it. It's not like it is with those dirty Rosalina fans where you can become famous by drawing creepy fanart. If you screw someone over in the Waluigi fandom, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is that Waluigi fans, after hearing about this, are not going to want to purchase Super Smash Bros 4 for either system, nor will they buy any other games from Nintendo. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Nintendo has alienated all the Waluigi fans with this move.

Nintendo, publicly apologize and make Waluigi a playable character or you can kiss your fortunes goodbye.

So uh, before Rosalina was revealed for Smash did she have a lot of haters and complaining too? People seem to groan about Waluigi because he's not much of a real character, but I don't see what makes Rosalina have more character or "personality" than any other Mario character. I've always liked Waluigi because of his design. He's quirky, creepy and lanky. His facial structure is odd. A character doesn't need depth to be great -- appearance and designs are fun, too.

Seems like everyone's reasons are purely because she appears in "canon" games.
I personally find Rosalina to be very boring due to her lack of personality. But she's still a great addition to Smash Bros..

I once designed a game were Waluigi was an oil tycoon in a 3D platformer that had you controlling/repairing oil wells after random bad guy came and destroyed them.

I have too much time on my hands.

Rosalina makes for a great homage to Super Mario Galaxy, aside from that I find her a one note character that isn't notable enough besides her appearance in that specific game. She looks like she'll be fun to play, but if a new character to represent the overall Mario series was chosen then I certainly think there are much better choices.
 
She's been a playable character in the past two Mario Karts, soon to be three; she was a playable character in 3D World, played an important part in the Galaxy series, and is now a playable character in Super Smash Bros. that makes her pretty notable. Everyone can argue about the chicken and the egg til the cows come home, but the fact of the matter she's here, and her profile is growing.

Now just give me playable Paper Mario, Sakurai.

I dunno, was Ice Climbers a beloved and storied franchise before Melee? Sakurai may want to have a character to represent Nintendos digital offerings and Dillon is a great character for that. I dont think his chances are zilch at least.

I liked the Rolling Western games though so maybe Im biased :p

I can't believe I just went through a bunch of posts trying to argue the clearly insane point that K. Rool is more important within the DK series than King Dedede is within the Kirby series. I don't even... what? Oh well, all the obvious arguments for why that's very wrong have already been made, so I won't rehash them.

If we're REALLY going to get technical here, that's not strictly true even within the Classic series.
The end villain/final boss in Mega Man V for the Game Boy/Rockman World 5 actually turns out to Sunstar, an ancient superweapon... not Dr. Wily.
 
Well... you know, when I was little I understood very few english words (not my first language)... probably that didn't help. Never knew what the character where saying throughout the whole game.

Also what's up with the aliases! It's like they were deliberately trying to confuse me!

Now I understand all the people rallying for him to be in Smash... I always wondered why nobody wanted the much cooler Kaptain K. Rool instead... >_>
 
Rool is in all of the SNES DKC games and Little Mac isn't in SPO!!, GASP! The Super Nintendo was a device of lies!
 
You know what? I don't want another character reveal tomorrow. Shake it up Sakurai!

I mean, I'm not really expecting another one tomorrow, but I'm tired of back-to-back veteran reveals. It keeps giving me the pretense that it will actually come out in the summer with the momentum.
 
I feel kinda bad for the people who like Waluigi. But I have no idea what would possess someone to make them think he'd be a viable character. Maybe I'm just a bit bias, since I hate everything about him. I just think he should have his own game before he's even worth bothering with. (Non-party/sport games I meant)

I dunno why they don't just throw him in WarioWare he'd have a lot more credibility running for him then, plus having a re-design to fit in with them better and he could be in Smash 5.

Ashey fans would still cry though.
 
Looking back at the contest, I guess I'm losing points on including Waluigi as a full character.

Then again, so are 32.77% of all entries (mine included), so misery enjoys company. Waaaaaaaaaah

She does have a backstory in Galaxy which is more than just about every other character in the Mario universe. She also is a fan favorite from a pivotal game in the Mario series much like Sheik is. Shes been around and as prevalent as Yoshi was when he joined the roster in 64. She seems to have gained a pretty sizable fan base compared to most characters in the series and have held important roles in pivotal games and has become a staple character in the spin offs. She was also playable in SM3DW which elevates her status quite a bit. As for the personality, shes about as one dimensional as most of the other Mario characters although she does have a backstory which is more than even Mario, Luigi, Peach and Bowser. I will say that for a few months before she was revealed for the Smash roster I did predict and outline these reasons as to why i wouldnt be surprised if she joined Smash. The only Mario characters I would say that are perhaps more deserving of a slot in Smash is Toad and Bowser Jr.

As a side note now that I mentioned Bowser Jr. does anyone else think he may be getting phased out? Hes stopped appearing in the mainline 3D titles and he at the moment is MIA in MK8.
