Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

Baseless predictions:

April Direct - Snake (non-cinematic trailer like Sonic)
June Direct/E3 - Pac-Man
August Direct - Palutena
September Dedicated Smash Bros. Direct - Mii
October - game releases

Change snake to Chrom and it would be pretty much my guess

Guys/gals, if there is a ND in April, it's not going to be the kind you all think, and will probably focus on Mario Kart 8. Not going to see another newcomer until E3.

Hasn't there been a newcomer or veteran shown off in every direct we've had lately? Am I just imagining that?

Speaking of recognizing characters:

64: Only clueless about Ness (even now I still have yet to play Earthbound)
Melee: Roy and Marth obviously but I also didn't recognize Ice Climbers (I had somehow never seen/played/heard of Ice Climbers for the NES)
Brawl: Only knew of Pit thanks to Captain N (still have yet to play the original KH), Ike (have yet to play a FE game), Lucas (see Ness above), Lucario and a bunch of the new Pokeballs/appearances (haven't played a Pokemon game beyond G1) After Lucario's announcement I did go and see the one Pokemon movie with him in it though. I actually had a ROB with Gyromite as a kid, so I was legitimately excited to seem him playable.

It's more likely to be third party veteran or newcomer trailer. That's it. I guess you are betting on veteran reveal right?

Nah, we need another newcomer. It's the only trend I want to believe right now. :p Although I'd settle for a good amount of gameplay footage/ smash developer diary thing and a returning vet.

Unless you play up to chapter 13 of Awakening

About the spoiler :
He only appear in awakening's dlc =P

Also Midorikawa uses his "soft" voice so he is ladylike.

I wonder what would happen if Sugita voices Marth instead.

For me it was only Ness (Earthbound never was released in Europe so I didn't know him as a kid), Marth and Roy. I recognized every other character. I was familiar with Lucas by the time of his announcement, since I had known of MOTHER3 (even tho I didn't play it then).

Y'know, now that I take a second look at that artwork, I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever questioned his gender.

Yes, I know, I'm crazy.

Same.

The artist just wanted to be consistent
with lucina
what he usually wears is what he is wearing now in smash aswell as in the remakes.

I always believed that but man it took me awhile to accept it. Imo, the remakes look nothing like this.

You do understand that the person who did that art is the same person who did the art for Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn.

That's the same artstyle as OG Ike and Micaiah.

Yea, but that does not change the fact the artist really made me question who this was, which was probably their intention in the first place.

for the other topic: didn't know
N64: Ness, Falcon
Melee: Marth, Roy, Ice Climbers, G&W
Brawl: R.O.B. but I do remember playing a Mario Kart game with it. I just can't remember if this was before or after.

Why do you say that? Every direct has had a smash trailer why would this one be any different. Last April nintendo direct it focused on Summer titles but also included a few surprise announcements such as A Link Between Worlds and Yoshis new island.

There's no reason for Nintendo to have a Direct other than to highlight a specific game they want to advertise. They showed us their lineup for Spring and early Summer with the last direct. Any information pertaining to the second half of the year is going to be at E3 -- which Nintendo is admittedly returning to a more traditional presence this year.

This is the most current version of marth(was also used in that shin megami tensei x fire emblem tease aswell.)

That's from the JPN only remake of The Mystery of the Emblem; Fire Emblem: Shin Monshou no Nazo ~ Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu, which is Marth's most canon appearance.

It's an amazing Fire Emblem game and it's pretty much Awakening before Awakening on the DS. I'd recommend it to you guys who haven't picked it up. It introduced pretty much most of the mechanics in Awakening such as making a playable avatar and what not.

Where have they said they'll have a more traditional presence? (Assuming you're referring to the pre-E3 press conference, rather than the actual expo as their presence there was largely unchanged last year, iirc).

Naw, I doubt that that we are getting nothing for next Nintendo Direct so I'm pretty sure that they will show Super Smash Bros 4 on next Direct.
