Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

I wonder what will the WiiU's pokemon stage be.

Phenac City clearly

This is great! This will most likely be a deflino plaza esque stage. Wonder if it will have a day/night dynamic too. side note: I love how we seem to be getting something new almost everyday now.

Oh, looking at the picture, notice how the four plazas are all lit up the most?

Guess you probably move around to them, and then the top of the tower.

Good eye, I wondered why those areas in particular were lot up more than the rest of the city
(I don't own a 3DS and have not played X or Y).

Also, 3DS owners must be happy with all the love they've been getting lately! Now I know how you feel..... Spoiler, it feels awful. Hope he has some WiiU stage reveals soon like the Palutena statue stage or something

Lumiose City looks wonderful! I would love to see Phenac City in the Wii U version, but I feel like we'll probably be seeing something more like Pokemon Stadium 3.

I'm going to take the bet for sure. I will put your name and your bet condition on my note. Clean avatar for two week sound good?

Edited: To clarifying that I'm betting for unlockable characters to be in the game. Right?

That's the one. Any unlockable playable characters in the game and you win, if there are none, I not only win, but I got to lord it over the rest of you. I will add a proviso, if it's ok with you, that on the very slim chance there are DLC characters for this game they are ignored, as by their very nature they have to be 'locked', if that's cool with you.

So, essentially, I'm betting the entire on disc playable roster will be available the moment you turn on the game.

I feel that perhaps alternate costumes like Male WFT or quick and dirty clones could be my undoing

Damn, Lumiose City's lookin' hot.

For a Wii U Pokemon stage... A Orre Region travelling map would be pretty cool.

Of course there has to be a Pokemon Stadium 3 as well, which will probably be based on Battle Revolution?

So will we need to answer quiz questions or would we need to partake in fine dining?

...

I am a little bummed that it doesn't seem like Saffron City 2.0. Maybe the Wii U version can give us a good pokemon stage.

Just curious why you don't like stages like that?

i don't think they're interesting uses of the source material. it's like making a themed stage by putting a looping video on in the background.

exception for stages where the platform actually lands and continually transitions into other things, like the f-zero stage.

Can't wait for the hellish camera angles, clunky controls, and annoying loading times between each section!

Seriously, fuck going through Lumiose in X/Y.

Nice Poke rep for smash tho.

Never had trouble since the middle section has no loading times and technically covers all of the city and I bike.

You make some good points, I do enjoy the f zero one as well. To me I think they are a way to feature much larger sections or a particular game and at least they aren't just a single
Floating platform that doesn't even have to do with the game (see: animal crossing stage in brawl)

Is there any doubt?
I hope not. =( Give us a real Pokémon stage based on a real location from the Pokémon games! The Pokémon Stadium stages are really lame. And Poké Floats, while I'll admit is super fun to play on, is just as lame if not lamer. Spear Pillar was amazing (although it strayed quite a bit from its original appearance in the games), and Lumiose City is looking to be awesome, too. Give us something good for the Wii U version, too!! If it MUST be a stadium-like stage, at least make it something from an actual game, like Pokémon Battle Revolution or something!

...It's going to be Pokémon Stadium 3. =(

pokemon stadium stages were never lame, lets not get revisionist now, it actually perfectly represents the pokemon world in a general way honestly.

Oh man, the 3DS' pokemon stage will have the better music. While the WiiU stages will have Hey You! Pikachu music.

Complete with Pikachu's inaccurate reactions whenever you talk near the gamepad

"Oh man, can't wait to boot up the Playstation 4 after this ses- HOLY CRAP THERE'S LIGHTNING EVERYWHERE!"

I enjoyed playing on Poké Floats (and Spear Pillar—probably more so than Poké Floats, because I enjoyed the chaotic space-time distortions), but I didn't really like it as a stage because it's a poor representation of the Pokémon series. It's completely made up, like the stadium stages.

I disagree. They're pretty generic stages that don't represent any actual location from the Pokémon games at all. They don't even look very much like the actual stadiums present in the console Pokémon games. At least Spear Pillar and Lumiose City are real locations from the Pokémon games. There's Saffron City, too, but it was pretty much exclusively based on the anime, so I'm not too fond of it (fun stage, but I don't think it's a good representation of the franchise).

Gonna miss a lot of stuff in you only stick to the middle. And nothing will ever excuse that camera.

The only service you'll miss out is Trainer PR vid :P

The middle "load-less" ring also carries the "lanes" that has nearly all of the services of Lumiose.

They're a generic stadium of what the pokemon leagues usually look like, atleast portrayed in the anime, only difference is its raised above ground but thats for the sake of smash gameplay

That's nice, but where's the Gen V stuff, Sakurai? :(

I don't like the generic Pokémon stages much either. If they make Pokémon Stadium 3, at least give it a visual makeover, please. My main hope is just for more stages that feature legendaries, with my ultimate pipe dream being the Distortion World (I want this more than any new character, seriously).
