Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

If we don't get Yoshi this week, I wouldn't mind Pokemon Trainer at all :)

Also Lumiose City is looking nice at night. Surprised we've had two 3DS stage reveals nearly back to back.

Guys, this update obviously confirms the Stork leak:
One of my favorite leaks, and honestly one of the more believable ones. Having both Dixie and K Rool as newcomers is a little crazy, though. If Pichu actually shows up in Lumiose in a screenshot that would bode... very well for it.

It's nice to have a Pokemon stage based on an actual Pokemon location! The 3DS is really killing it with stages.
Which continuously makes me sad that we won't see them in HD instead...
Though I have to wonder how fighting on top of the tower will work, since its top is a little... jagged.

Can this confirm that this is fake ? =P
I'd hesitate to say so definitively, as the leak is supposedly from someone who would have only played a few matches. It's entirely possible that the stage would be called "Smash Circuit", and the matches played may have only been on the Smash Bros. variation rather than the World Circuit type.

If anything, the confirmation that a single stage can rep multiple franchises by random chance helps the leak since it claims that there's a yarn stage that can be based on either Kirby or Yoshi.

Lumiose city...

Lumiose is from luminous...

Luminous is another word for bright...

Another word for bright is radiant...

IKE CONFIRMED.

It's been quite a while since we've gotten a proper Wii U stage reveal. We had the background of the Kid Icarus stage, and that's been it since the Mario Galaxy reveal in mid-November.

I'm glad they went with Lumiose City. I really wanted that to be a stage, but is there really anywhere else to fight on other than the tower? The rest of the city doesn't have any other interesting structures. I guess they can fight on the ground.

Also, Lumiose City looks better in Smash than it does in X/Y at night time. It helps that in Smash it actually looks like night time making all the lights look nice.

Considering Saffron City was one of my favorite stages im glad they went with Lumiose City. Makes me curious if they will also go with a Gen 5 location like N's castle or something.

What is this "Stork" character the leak says?

Anyway today pic was really good and while we're getting closer to friday and the Yoshi reveal (it would be perfect if Sakurai trolls us with another character)

You know in the opening of Yoshi's Island there is a stork carrying Baby Mario but he drops it?

That's the stork.

So that makes X/Y the most recent game represented on the 3DS with a stage and Lost World the most recent game represented with a stage on the Wii U.

Yea, I would like this as well.

It says the Stork from Yoshi's Island is a playable character.

What are the options for a pokemon "console" stage if they go that route for Wii U? Aside from a stadium like stage from previous games, what other options are there? Pokepark maybe? That may actually be an organic way to impliment pokefloats concepts.

Oh wow sorry for the question guys! LOL

I learned a new word for my english skills today

A stork.

From Yoshi's Island.

From Yoshi!

Makes me wonder which new Pokémon stage the Wii U version will get.

I'm more curious to see the types that will be represented in the different pokemon stages.

I'm hoping Fairy will be one of them as another nod to the sixth gen. But also have Dark, Dragon, and Poison.

That just reminds me. Why isn't there a poison element in Smash? It would work similar to whatever that flower thing is that indicates getting more damage gradually.

Just make the character look a bit purple and have some purple bubbles coming above the character. And of course make it temporary.

And why does Ivysaur not have a single Poison-type move?

I think it's high time some of the Pokemon spinoffs get some representation. Mt. Battle from Colosseum would make a great stage. They could pull things from Mystery Dungeon or Ranger or even Rumble.

Actually, speaking of, they should have Pokemon Island from Snap as a Wii U stage. The potential there is amazing - and Snap is one of the few Pokemon spinoffs to be acknowledged by Smash, having a trophy of the Zero-One in Melee.

NVM: I can't read today.

Hmm they could design a stage where a vehicle on the rails travels through Pokemon Island or the safari zone and takes occasional stops with different pokemon appearing.

Another idea that works similar to the Ridley stage idea would be riding on the back of a flying legendary pokemon and battle. Perhaps something like riding on Ho-oh or Rayquaza and they could battle other legendaries which you may transfer onto.

Another idea for a Starfox stage would have an arwing fleet drive through Venom. In the background Andross occasionally appears attacking the arwings however there could be a button you jump on, on the arwing that fires a shot at Andross. I think that'd be something unique and interesting that Sakurai could go for.

The Stork will appear as playable, with inspiration taken from the babies in Yoshi's Island DS

I mean I can't dismiss it for being an out there idea but it pretty much is an out there idea. I mean didn't the babies just add abilities like DK could climb vines and Wario had a coin magnet (I never played the game). The stork on its own did like nothing but get kidnapped and the babies themselves weren't exactly the fighters in the game. It just seems like such as odd thing to add to a rumour list.

Who is this anime character? It's constant appearance disturbs me.

On the subject of poison, and a potential Pokémon Stadium 3 stage in the Wii U version, it would be cool if there was a poison formation where the entire surface of the stage becomes a pooled with sludge except near the edges of the stage. That'd make for some madcap situations where you can either stay in the sludge and rack up a hefty % on yourself, unless you're willing to tussle for the edge, which of course, with the new edge mechanics could get pretty crazy

also I have an idea for how the stork could work

basically he drops babies into the battle and they all have special abilities based off their DS appearances. when you drop a baby, you control them, but most of them are pretty slow and hitting them enough will put them in a bubble which the stork needs to catch. The stork is the one that needs to be attacked but you can only do that when the baby is in the bubble otherwise he flies in the background similar to Pokemon Trainer.

It's a very complicated character but I think it could work.
