Confession, I also loved and enjoyed hey you pikachu, the novelty of having my very own pikachu was strong on me.
This is actually very true. It's pretty amazing they were able to pull off so many catchy songs in a row. They basically have a flawless track record with Pokémon.It's kind of surreal how goddamn talented and on point 4kids music people were for the early seasons of Pokemon. Like all the theme and vocal songs are varying degrees of godlike and they almost all hold up X years later. Not many franchises can boast such quality
The novelty was great, it just got frustrating when Pikachu didn't understand what you said even after repeating it a dozen times. I still feel like a spiritual sequel could be made today with either the 3DS or Wii U's built in mic.

Biggest problem with DPP+ theme songs is they lack spunk/attitude (you could say)

Oh yeah, forgot about Chronicles! It was cool, but that opening...ehh...*wobbles hand* so-so.
I also agree with DPP+ themes being less spunky. I don't know why they toned them down so much like that.

Ash is a loser tho. He can't be the very best.
That's why they gotta change it every couple of seasons to show how much deeper he's fallen.
Probably the same ones as the Wii-U version, or maybe different past stages (Wii-U gets Hyrule Temple and 3DS gets Onett or something like that)
Next portable system will have 3DS stages though.
