Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

The more I look at Yoshi's Island artwork, the more I want Baby Mario and Yoshi to team up

They just look too god damn cute to not be in the game together. Could even use Baby Mario's hammer from PiT or something.

Seriously, Simon's a third party character that makes a whole lot of sense. He's a prominent character from the NES days. Sakurai made a point to use Megaman's classic look, so the same can be done with Simon. Just saying.

I was looking to see if there were any anniversaries tomorrow, so we wouldn't get a repeat of Little Mac's surprising reveal.

Games made by Nintendo that came out in March that could have possible anniversaries 30/20/10 year anniversaries,

Zoda's Revenge: Startropics II came out in March 1994. Can't find exact date tho.

Super Metroid came out March 19th 1994. So expect some Ridley hype and disappointment when Rosalina is posted instead.

Ken Griffey, Jr. Presents Major League Baseball came out March 1994. Most obvious choice, Ken Griffey has been cameo'd in over a hundred Nintendo licensed games, [citation needed] and it's about time for him to bring the bat to the plate, smash style.

Custom Robo came out March 4th 2004, so unfortunately that time has passed, however he could possible reveal for NA's release date in May.

Pokemon Colosseum came out March 22nd 2004 in NA. But that game sucked so Sakurai probably won't be looking at that.

Finally Legend of Zelda Four Swords Adventure came out March 18th, 2004 in Japan. Hmm.....Ganon reveal pls

Interesting thing to note, on April 3rd when some GBA VC games hit Wii-U in Japan, here's the list of games coming first round: Super Mario World, WarioWare, Golden Sun, F-Zero and Advance Wars.

Possible reveal from any of those four series on that day. Maybe five if Yoshi isn't revealed tomorrow.

Before I say what I do, I want to thank you for the work you put in making the post. Must have taken quite a bit of time. The Little Mac reveal definitely blindsided pretty much everyone.

But, I hope this isn't a regular thing for normal days like tomorrow. The thread already has a problem with posters stating dates and then hyping it up and then whining afterwards.

Like maybe it would be better for Nintendo Direct dates or something?

This is just going by the recent trends that A. we've been getting new characters on Fridays, and B. we've been getting two new characters a month. Not to mention that the challenger approaching banner has been gone for over a week, which isn't much, but still something. Obviously, these aren't guarantees, but they've proven, at least to me, fairly reliable as of late.

It'd be surprising if we didn't get Yoshi tomorrow. Better time than never, since we're probably due a reveal and isn't there meant to be a Year of Yoshi thing going on soon?

I think incorporating Baby Mario into his moveset could be a nice change for him but then again, hitting babies, as has been said, and I kinda think his moveset is ok as is, it just needs a bit of fine tuning. I liked the buff to his recovery in Brawl, it'd be cool if they changed his egg roll or buffed it a bit. It's not the best special move ever let's be real~~

I also wouldn't mind this. Could be really interesting especially if they give him Yoshi island transformations. Helicopter yoshi as new recovery would be awesome. Crying baby mario stuns enemies. Superstar baby mario could be the final smash lol.
 
Is it possible that there will be a yoshi new island stage? Or is that too new of a game? I dunno if I'd really enjoy a stage with that art style too much :/

Could very well happen. The best example we have right now is that Sonic got a Lost World stage, and this was announced before Lost Worlds came out. And I'm betting DK may have a Tropical Freeze stage.

Never! Smash was always a way for Nintendo to advertise other platforms. Buy a PS4 or Xbox One to continue the adventures of your favorite Smash star!

If anything the 3ds version of Smash might get a New Island stage while the WiiU gets a Yoshi Story stage...again.
