...I had no idea people liked Wolf so much.
It's a wolf with an eyepatch, how can you not like it.

I think Zelda should get one more rep.
Obviously Toon Zelda is a horrible idea and anyone who suggests it is probably a horrible person. That much is clear.
But these are the characters I would like to see:
1. Skull Kid
2. Midna
3. Young Link - transforms into Deku, Goron and Zora Link.
Ghirahim isn't worthy.
They just confirmed that Nintendo is blocking Melee for Evolution 2014.

When is EVO again?
Maybe they want to exclusively promote smash 4, but I doubt that's the reason.
I could see smash 4 being out then.Mid-July.
Playtime's over....I had no idea people liked Wolf so much.
Mid-July.
Where is the roster maker anyway?
Is Isa Jo one of the options?
I would agree with you in Mario Kart 8 wasn't confirmed for May. No way Nintendo lets those two come out so close to each other.I could see smash 4 being out then.

Woah. Is the Melee competitive scene that uh... childish? If they are blocking Melee to promote Smash 4, the competitive scene is DEFINITELY going to shut out embracing the new one.
They'll full on boycott it.![]()

He's a great character, and his claw attacks feel so satisfying to use....I had no idea people liked Wolf so much.
Isn't that exactly how Brawl and Mario Kart Wii went down?
...Fair point, but they had a wider gap in release in Japan (three months as opposed to the US' one month) and weren't on a console that was dying rapidly.Isn't that exactly how Brawl and Mario Kart Wii went down?
lol... I don't get those people. They boycotted Evo 2008 when they had items on in Brawl.
Which is completely irrelevant. There is no rule that says Nintendo has to delay a game X number of times before they release it. It's done when it's done, and it's released when it's released, and as Nintendo showed with Brawl and Mario Kart Wii, they have no qualms releasing them one month after the other. That was after Brawl was delayed twice from December to March.
Why would anyone want to play competitive matches with items on? I don't get those people.lol... I don't get those people.
First of all, unless Smash 4 is out before Evo, that makes no sense at all. Smash presence at Evo is purely free advertising. If they are blocking Melee to promote Smash 4, the competitive scene is DEFINITELY going to shut out embracing the new one.

...still, though... you're making me have hope again. Dare I believe that it's actually possible we get Smash Bros. before Q4?![]()
Because items are part of the game?
I have no problem with people playing without items and always in the same stage, but the truth is that I don't get why one would want to play Smash Bros like that.

I enjoy items, it's just that that type of play just isn't fun to me in matches where I want to be playing seriously and trying to compete with others. (Edit: Sorry if I came off as abrasive/dismissive earlier; not meaning to rude really. I just disagree.)Because items are part of the game?

Yeah, that's what I fear it is. I disagree with it obviously, but all you ever hear Nintendo designers talk about (thinking mostly of Sakurai, Miyamoto, Iwata) is how they can make games more fun for players of all skill levels.I think the biggest hole in the "Nintendo wants Smash 4 @ Evo" conspiracy theory is that people assume that Nintendo WANTS their new game shown off at a major competitive fighting game tournament. Remember that Nintendo's current gameplan is to appeal almost exclusively to Lil' Jimmy and Nana, so they probably think that they'll end up seeing the Smash 4 Top 8 and be scared off of buying it and a Wii U.

Basically. If Smash 4 is anything but Melee with some new characters (like Project M, which I do enjoy might I add) then they won't embrace it.
They need WiiU to sell now. If Smash can be ready this summer, they will release it this summer. So you think that Nintendo will be OK with having nothing worthwile released in November.

I agree they probably have more coming (and we should see some in a Direct soon, or at E3).They need WiiU to sell now. If Smash can be ready this summer, they will release it this summer.
And chances are they have some holiday titles in development. They're capable of making more than one game, after all.
I remember being sad when a lot of the Melee veterans didn't transition to Brawl. M2K was one of the ones that really expressed his disappointment with Brawl sometime early on, but still played it for money. At this point he probably enjoys it. Pretty sure he'll always play every Smash game at top level though, which is honestly really cool. There'll be new blood playing Smash 4 competitively regardless, same thing happened with Brawl.
Mew2King is already planning on playing it competitively, but then he did the same thing with Brawl anyway -- he's an outlier but lately he's definitely been preferring Melee even despite that he plays everything.

Chrom? Maybe. Lucina? People are saying unlikely.I guess Chrom and maybe Lucina and Marth are shoo-ins eh? Still hoping Ike comes back.
That actually sums it up, perfectly. Epitome of badass. Nothing like a cool rival, with an eye patch to spice things up.
HANDS OFF MY PREY!

There's just no way Smash is coming before the second half of the year, probably fall or the holidays. I'm surprised people still think otherwise.
This. It almost doesn't matter what Smash 4 is in terms of the competitive/"hardcore" community. If it's anything besides Melee 2, all the Smashboards types are going to hate it and keep on championing Melee (and Project M, I guess) as the only Smash game worth playing.
And I say let them! Since they probably won't end up liking it anyway (since it's not going to be Melee 2), I'd rather Smash 4 be a great game the rest of us can enjoy while the abrasive, rude, and arrogant (seriously, just look at last several pages of thread #4) competitive community continues to busy themselves with Melee and Project M.
