To be fair, we Ridley supporters know that he has low chances of getting in the game as a playable character. And yes, he was wanted in Melee, Brawl and he is wanted now as well and if he isn't playable this time, he will be wanted for the next Smash Bros. Until Sakurai finally decides to give us what we want. It can't be that hard. Anyways, what I want to say is, there is no need to crush the little hope we have, every single time someone mentions something about Ridley being playable.

Miiverse seem to be all the rage with Ridley playable comments. While an enemy from Samus' past/her trauma could appear certainly sounds like Ridley, it is all too possible Sakurai was hinting that he would reveal a aMother Brain AT at some point on the Pyrosphere. Sometimes I don't know what to think.
When everyone is down on Ridley I have to jump in and explain the positive possibilities. When everyone is excited about his possible playability I have to jump in and explain why it's still a long shot. I have a problem.
Fair enough, but having to listen to Ridley talk almost everyday is disappointing because I know how extremely upset people will be if he doesn't make the cut.
All I'm saying is lower your hype, act as if he's NOT playable and if he is, good surprise, if he's not, fair enough.
If he's in, I'll permanently wear the ugliest avatar ever.

Yep, that is my stance on the "Ridley as playable" subject. I always try to be prepared for the worst. Some times it is hard to hold down the hype, though.

Samurai Goroh and Black Bull are the only two I could see F-Zero getting besides Captain Falcon.
Even though I would enjoy having another rep from F-Zero I don't feel like it would happen. Maybe they could do a gag character that has moves based around his machine.

I can see where you're coming from, i mean just look at the Mewtwo fallout when Lucario was announced. I'm not looking forward to three pages of "noooo" because Ridley is deconfirmed when his chances weren't that great to begin with. (i would love him to be in the game though)

You know, on the subject of Ridley, his Other M (adult) design doesn't seem to be that awkward to program:
He doesn't have the weird neck Super Metroid!Ridley has. The problem would be the wings, but then again Charizard...

That design being playable in Smash 4 is pretty much the worst-case scenario for me. It's so utterly ugly, and completely misses most of the point of Ridley's design as seen in every other Metroid game ever. If Ridley isn't playable at all then at least he has a solid chance of making it into Proejct M, but if that abomination is playable... I may cry. Tears may very well be shed. It will not be a happy day.

Well, I am willing to accept his inferior Other M design, if that means he can be playable in SSB4. There is no debate about his Super Metroid design being far superior, but it is also true that the said design seems to be more awkward to program. To be honest, though, Ridley's design was the least of Other M's problems. Besides the fucked up beak and the weird creepy small eyes, the design isn't really THAT bad.

I'd rather take Other M Ridley over no Ridley. Especially because that means that Smash 5 will have Ridley as well, and there they can go with the design that will be used in the Metroid game that is released between Smash 4 and Smash 5.

If Other M Ridley does make it as playable, I can always cross my fingers that he gets a better design as an alternate costume, haha. And, admittedly, the worst part of Other M Ridley's design was the stupid shoehorned-in evolution nonsense, so as long as he doesn't end up having that as a gameplay mechanic everything would be... well, not as bad as it could have been.
Or I can just get some Ridley models to put over Charizard in Project M and cry myself to sleep

Best case scenario for me would be for Sakurai to redesign Ridley for Smash, using the best qualities from both versions and merging them into one Super Ridley. Take Other M Ridley's color scheme and general body shape, and mix it with Prime Ridley's facial features and tail design for maximum overdrive.

I imagine if it was an entirely new design it would be something near the Other M head and neck on the Prime body. He's actually a decent size when you look at the models that way.

Yeah, ZM has an amazing Ridley design. Though I still have a soft spot for the purple Ridley of Super... and I think Brawl struck a really good balance between Ridley's various designs, incorporating bits and pieces from all of Ridley's appearances before that. I'd be really happy if they just used that design with a color-palette update. Possibly with even larger wings, because I adore the massive wings of Meta Ridley.
