Also if this is from the ESRB, shouldn't we be seeing something related to questionable content like Peach's panties or Wario's wafts? The things the ESRB needs to see.

On Smashboards, the leaker is only claiming the Duck Hunt pic, the character select screen with Bowser Jr., and the DLC info. He said he is not connected with the Dr. Mario and Shulk leakers. They may be independent leaks OR just fakers trying to piggyback (though they piggybacked remarkably quickly). The fighting Shulk pics are from a third source, but I think most of us believe those are ridiculously fake.

Leaker also didn't confirm if this is the full roster or if there are more fighters.
 
Aren't the positions of the characters weird though? Why are Doctor Mario, Dark Pit and Lucina separated from the rest of their series counterparts? (and why is Shulk after them?)

Why is Yoshi before Rosalina? He's his own series rep.

They give ESRB a cross-section of the game, in the form of videos and documents. Leaker's only showing us the bits we'll find of note.

Assuming it's from the video for the ESRB and not just the build they used to prepare that video, of course.

Peach's panties would be more convincing than what we've seen. Wario's 3D model would also help sell it. Since that kind of stuff is much harder to fake and look real.

Custom Smash renders are not unheard of.

I'm aware of the leaker's leaks. I'm just saying that with the thickness being a non-issue, it could go either way, though I'm still leaning on fake.

Dr. Mario, Dark Pit and Lucina are grouped as clones, presumably because they're only marginally different, from a gameplay standpoint.

Not sure about Yoshi. It may be simply a matter of, "Hey, he has his own icon but he's part of the Mario extended universe, so let's put him after the Mario vets but before the Mario newcomers."

Dr. Mario and Shulk full renders on the other leaks match up with the character icons on the original leak. No way someone created a full render that fast.

Yeah, it's worth noting, the renders of Dr. Mario, Shulk, etc, may not be from the original leaker, but they came out right afterward and definitely match up with their head icons on the CSS the original leaker provided. So if they're not from him, they're from someone else who also had/has access to the game.
 
For the clone grouping, it may be because it messes up the lines.

If you put Dr. Mario on the top line that just knocks GW to the second row, which is fine. Or they could just move him wherever.

However, it you put DARK PIT and Lucina with their series, it bumps off Little Mac and Meta Knight. Little Mac can be moved wherever, but Meta Knight would be separated from his series.

Still a bit baffled at why Shulk is down on the bottom row when they could easily move him up one, but there might be more characters.

I know you are, the great but sometimes add quote button left the quote in for you since I went back a page. Didn't mean to have you in that reply. I wouldn't think you didn't know what the leaks were.

I wasn't sure of those 5 which were which. I can't follow 4chan. It was crazy confusing so that one image with all 5 pictures bundled was what we've been basing it off of. Still on #TeamReal. Still unsure about DLC and still don't think that's the full roster.
 
I still think that if that was real, the roster wouldn't be complete. There's some characters/series that all seem jumbled up, and it's not like Sakurai to have a disarray like that in his rosters.

Or they could have lined icons up so that wasn't a problem. There are plenty of one or two character series that can fill up the remaining space to lining up the bigger series isn't a problem.

I've made enough fake selection screens to know this.

Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, and Lucina are Melee-style Clones which make them only marginally different as per the clones in Melee. Falco, Ganondorf, and Toon Link are at worst Brawl-style Clones since they'll return from Brawl with their moveset differentiation gained from Brawl.
 
Ya know, it's pretty cool that as soon as ANY character or stage is revealed (except retro stages I guess) we'll know if this is true or false.

Well then the safest would be to wait for the game to be released. Though one character render would basically end this.
 
If this is real, I won't be angry. It's more characters than I expected, and almost no cuts, which is nice, but I'm still not convinced. The placement of the characters seems really odd to me.

And are the five extra spaces for the supposed DLC characters? Or for other in-game unlockables? And why are the Ice Climbers DLC? We're really to believe they are having that much trouble integrating them? (Plus, if that robs them of an Amiibo, there will be words.)

It makes sense that the leaks are separate, if Dr Mario is in I'm solid team fake
because Ice Climbers would be before him surely?

If not I may be team real now.

He mentioned in smashboards that his leak is merely only the roster and DLC, nothing else.
 
I'm #TeamFake because I can't admit that Sakurai would give a slot to Dr. Mario and Dark Pit instead of Ice Climbers, Lucas or Snake. What is this ? Playstation All-Star Battle Royale ?

The top/bottom one of the bottom three are, probably, the title screen/intro sequence, showing characters you've unlocked, like in Brawl or 64, hence the "Press any button". The center one of that is the stage select.

Shulk is Ike clone and as the roster fills with unrevealed characters clones are moved to be in the bottom left of the character select screen.

Yes, Ganondorf, Falco, Young Link... I know
 
FYI the palutena "leak" was fake. Palutena did end up in the game, but the model was proven to be different.
 
Also I find the lack of Mii odd. I know that other shot was shown, but it seems like a messy way to implement them. It may work on the 3DS but would that method work on the Wii U?
