Why would a Nintendo representative know the characters in a game this far from release? Unless you're talking about Treehouse.

Also given the leak, is it possible that Sakurai will refrain from any and all character reveals until launch?

You could say the same thing about Luigi or Lucina. Just because they're based on another character doesn't mean he's not unique. Pittoo has his own personality, quirks, and story is ridiculous to say he's just a palette swap.

Luigi actually looks different, and taller/more slender, Lucina is a female (I still don't really like her inclusion.) I never said he wasn't unique, I know that he has his own special weapon.

But you cannot deny that Dark Pit is the exact same as Pit with black colors.

Bowser is not being selected, kirby is. The local player always has a thick line so it follows that P2 wouldn't change thickness no matter what he was doing, the same way Bowser's line is thick despite selecting kirby.

That doesn't make sense since it's still FFA.

Bowser is not being selected, kirby is. The local player always has a thick line so it follows that P2 wouldn't change thickness no matter what he was doing, the same way Bowser's line is thick despite selecting kirby.

I think it looks fantastic. Very neat, and the colours are great. Feels very arcade-y. Less is more, imo

If that and the DLC happens then this will just about be the best roster possible. Mach Rider's cool, Impa since Skyward Sword has been awesome and Mewtwo/Ridley/Dixie* are the holy trinity I absolutely want in.

It seems to be the best argument team fake has adjacent the leak, not being a definitive breaking point is bringing everyone on board.

Also when do we call it. First render that confirms or debunks this or when the game is out?

I suppose when one of those characters is either an AT, or when we know all of those included are playable. For instance what if Bowser Jr is in but Duck Hunt is not? So we'll have to just wait? Sound fair? PM me. Bed time lol.

I'm more flabbergasted at people assuming that this makes the leak legit or something. It just means the thickness is a non-issue.

This is the Smash fandom. If they want to make a photoshopped render to fool people, they will. It's like you guys never learn.

Mario Kart 8 is getting free DLC. Fire Emblem got free DLC.

Also Mario Kart 8 is getting additional content via amiibo.

From my understanding, the DLC in Mario Kart 8 are just additional carts and tracks you can race on. Fire Emblem has additional campaigns you can play and unlock able characters as well.

But the carts and FE characters aren't a complete necessity when it comes to gameplay, and the ease of creating these things allow it to be distributed as DLC. Carts are just car models with some adjusted stats, while FE characters are just character portraits with different abilities. This type of content is totally expendable, and if Smash 4 ever had DLC, most likely the only content they'd put out are more alternate costumes.

Why can't Smash characters be DLC? Personally I feel like they can't because they're not just a game add-on, and they cannot be made off of a base. They're a necessity in regards to the character roster, which is one of the most important aspects about this game. Characters alter the overall gameplay instead of simply expanding upon it. You can't expect a fair playing ground when one person has access to buy characters, while another person does not. Also, imagine down the road when Nintendo comes out with a new console. I would imagine they would cease Wii U DLC eventually. What happens to DLC characters then? They're gone, forever.

Smash is also a game known for surprises and unlockables, so why take out the adventure of unlocking and replace it with DLC? Do you really think Sakurai of all people would want that, especially when it comes to characters?

Great thing about Duck Hunt is it will retcon the original game so that we weren't actually killing the ducks. They'll come up with some explanation like we were stunning them, etc. The animal lover in me appreciates this!

Incidentally, I heard from the Nintendo Rep and now have a direct line with him. He was shown the image and had two things to say

1) He remembers Doc was an alt skin. However, Doc was added in late like Lucina so that explains that

2) He said there's still more characters that should be there, some you would never expect.

Basically exactly as you heard it.

May I refer back to a theory of mine?

A time ago, I predicted a roster that was this, but included Ridley, Mewtwo, Dixie, Impa and Chorus Kids. However we learned Chorus Kids is apparently DLC. Just earlier this week though, I was told of Mach Rider and lets be honest, NO one expects him. Which is why im guessing the final 5 slots belong to Mewtwo, Ridley, Dixie, Impa and Mach Rider.
