Rayman by a wide margin. He'd be fantastic! Give his attacks long range, but make him very light and easy to KO.

I made a post about this before but... I really think Pac-Man is more about the game and not the character. A stage, and an Assist Trophy of the 2D model would be amazing. Hardly anyone cares for the 'character' but almost everyone knows and likes the game. I know a third party character hasn't been represented like that before but Namco is working on the game so it could be a first.
Edit: I almost see it as Tetris in that sense. It got represented via music (and a stage would be awesome, just like a Pacman stage would), and Tetris doesnt have a character to represent it and it's still huge (long live the mighty L-Block). I know Pacman himself IS a character, but I'd rather see him represented as a franchise like Tetris would. An amazing stage and an assist trophy of the 2D pacman and maybe the ghosts. I don't see the 3D model as Smash material.

So I imagine most of the Assist Trophies in Brawl will probably return, unless one of the characters upgrade to playable status like Little Mac.

Heck he'd be a better choice for a character based on throwing hammers.
Throwing hammers should've been like Bowser's forward-B move. Cheap as hell in SMB1.

Sakurai delays Smash Bros 4 to 2015 as he announces Melee HD with online coming to Wii-U later this year to fill the gap.
I'd be okay with that

We don't know that for sure. Only SS took forever to come out after the last zelda. MM came out 2 years after OOT, WW came out 3 years after MM, TP came out 3 years after WW, SS came out 5 years after TP. Typically it's about 3 years between each game. This november will be 3 years since SS. We don't know how big the team is, how much effort has gone in, who they are outsourcing (could be retro
). It isn't impossible it's coming out this year at all. Unlikely? Probably, since they haven't shown anything, and they typically show off a console zelda game 1+ year before release.

I thought Sakurai considered Smash Wii U and 3DS as Smash 4 and 5, not necessarily respectively.

The release date is 2014, so a release in 2015 would be a delay.
Sakurai's mentioned that one of the two games this time around is Smash 5 since they're effectively making two games this time around.
Lauching with the nintendo U and Mii! and the 4DS Lite XL.

Sakurai has already said development has been going smoothy in his famitsu articles.
Theres a recently created twitter account which is probably going to be used for marketing the Smash bros. coming soon.
Sakurai has made it his resolution to have this game out this year, its the planned release.
Also considering its been at least if not, longer in development then Brawl.
Phew.
Brawl had tons of tropies for things that didn't even have an Item or Stage in the game, let alone a Playable Character. Stuff like Elite Beat Agents/Ouendan and Another Code, for example.

I would like to warn everyone with the possibility scenario happening tomorrow regard with POTD.
I think we will get normal POTD tomorrow but after the Direct happened then update after Direct would be Wednesday POTD due to fact it's exactly what happened couple of months ago because Direct happened on Friday for Japanese, when we got Direct on Thursday. This time, Direct is on Wednesday for Japanese.
