I think the America outfit might be more elaborate too but its hard to tell (and less likely). Either way, I can only comment on what I know to be true, not what one speculates to be true
They don't even need to do blind packaging, neither Skylanders nor Disney Infinity (aside from the disks) do so. The point of rare figure variants is to promote repeatedly checking in on stores, because once you're there, your kids will probably force you to buy something. Plus, it allows them to get high attendance at promotional events for the game by promising a rare figure variant to be there, it allows them to sell a bundle better than they normally would by just including one of them in it, etc. Basically, it works so damn well for Skylanders that I'd be surprised if Ninty didn't go that route.

I don't get how colouring her hair and costume like Daisy isn't a "true Daisy alt". That's pretty much the entire point of Daisy's character.

In melee, Peach's daisy alt was a bit more than just a recolor like other alts since it got some model changes too. Short gloves like daisy, peach's accessories replaced with daisy's, Her dress got a different design, and last but not lease...that tan.

Uhh... she's a roster filler in a Tennis game as far as I'm concerned. I don't really vote on personality with Mario characters.
I don't expect a full Daisy alt, I just feel it would be nice if the texture was more like Melee's (Daisy emblem and earrings) vs Brawls (just a recolour).

For me the worst part about the Slyward Sword alt is if you just removed the hat it would look so much better.
Personally, if they removed the hat I'd find it odd. It's part of his tunic uniform after all.

About that: what's the current theory on how alternative colors and alternative costumes (and gender swaps) work? Each character has at least alternative colors and costumes? Or were the colors a placeholder for E3?
Why would the colours be a placeholder? They are pretty much a staple of the series. Also in today's pic we see one of Mac's E3 colours.

As a huge Punch-Out!! fan I love Little Mac is getting so many alt costumes, and they really look like alt costumes.
But what the heck is Sakurai doing? Why not do this with every character? Why is Link's one SO bad compared to this one, was it really that difficult to make Link's model without the hat and with a better belt?
I'm starting to wonder how is the planning process of Sakurai when he does this things. We don't even know yet if WiiU version is getting a good singleplayer.

I don't think it looks that great either but I don't see why people are treating this as some sort of unofficial confirmation there won't be proper alts for veterans. Tons of characters have texture-swaps that serve as quick and dirty references to other costumes/characters since SSB64, don't know why this suddenly changed things.
I'd prefer an OoT Link alt or Fierce Deity Link anyhow.
EDIT: Pink jumpsuit Mac is awesome by the by.

As of now Little Mac sucks really hard in the air, if he's knocked out of the arena it's almost impossible he will recover, and if he's grabbed and thrown in the air things will be really dire for him
Being as vulnerable in the air as he is makes him an easy kill. He benefits most from FFAs where he can hide in the confusion.
