Captain Falcon has a diverse set of different punches mixed in with a diverse set of different kicks.

Samus has a ton of tools besides her gun. Punches and kicks, of course, but also bombs, missiles, screw attack, grapple beam.

Marth? A - Swing sword. Fair - swing sword. Bair - swing sword. B - swing sword.

Again, am I not allowed to have the opinion that Marth is a really boring character?

You are, as others are allowed to the opinion of criticizing your opinion and vice versa.

Frankly, I'm astounded that you want a character to be bad so that others won't use him as much, despite Marth being one of their/favorite characters for many, just so your competetive viewing experience isn't lessened, then call someone else the selfish one.

I'm not opposed to switching mains or anything, but Marth's been my guy since I unlocked him in Melee. Used him for one match and everything he had just fucking clicked with me. And I didn't even know what a fire emblem was back then.

Hopefully some changes are made or I'll have to pour one out for tha homie.

Geez, I really hate Captain Falcon. All he does is punch things.

And that Samus, ugh. She just shoots stuff. Laaaaaaaame.

Are you KIDDING ME he has falcon kick, knee, heel (up-tilt), hugging (up-b), AND stomping (d-air)!

I realize you're being sarcastic.

He's secret assist so that's why we didn't see Barbara, Advance Wars and Ray MK 3 as well yet too.

I could see that.

also I'm sorry for not being in the IRC lately... I can't even to get the laptop to turn on now and I also have to share the desktop with two brothers now. So say hi to everyone

It was a lot of stuff like this that ultimately turned me off from brawl. It felt like changes to the base game weren't being accounted for when re-balancing all the characters. ex: Captain Falcon was slow in brawl's new environment making his usual stuff not work anymore but he didn't get any new tools to make up for these implicit new nerfs.

No chance to be anything other than a playable character? OF course!!

I like you.

I don't want to see these characters in competitive play because I enjoy watching Smash, but I find these particular characters extremely boring to watch. Why is this wrong? Maybe it's selfish of me, but I think it's selfish of you to want to ruin my enjoyment of competitive Smash by keeping these characters good.

It's wrong to say that you want Marth to be low tier because you don't want anyone who likes Marth to use him.

Fair enough. That was out of line.

But as I said at the beginning of this discussion: My hatred for these characters knows no bounds. I cannot convey to you guys how much I absolutely hate these characters and the fact that they dominate the competitive Melee scene so I can't even get any enjoyment out of the MLG tournament that's going on this weekend.

I'll just say one more thing, then let it go:

They're like the Yankees to me.

I don't know much about baseball, but I know two things about the Yankees.

1) They're one of the best baseball teams.

2) Everyone hates them except for Yankees fans.

Don't worry, Tan.

Sakurai has a 12-man balancing squad and will ensure a good time for all players.

Please be excited.

Judging from the past week in here, I have a feeling the OT for Smash 4 is going to be a very hateful place at first. Not that it won't be justified or anything, just...I sense a lot of anger coming.

Team Ike will welcome the Marth users. He will fight for his friend till the end.

You're going to laugh when you hear the only reason Ike wasn't a co-main with Marth in Brawl for me.

He didn't have his wave slash projectile.

Seriously.

I'm eagerly awaiting the first swords person with either a strong slicing projectile or a good set of fast projectiles. I guess you can figure this much out based on my continued backing of Takamaru though.

If online is laggy like Brawl, Ike will definitely been my main for that. Just run in and spam up-smash while everyone else fumbles with the controls.

#swoleswordsman

I also mained the shit out of him for lag warrioring. It served me well.

Real men GET RIGHT IN MOTHAFUCKA'S FACES.

I can see why they don't want to give Ike a projectile, but it would've been cool to see that. Maybe Chrom might be more like that if he ends up getting in, since it'd be one of the only other archtypes I can see them going for with another FE sword user.

What? Sheik was my main and favorite in Melee and she became entirely unusable in Brawl. She has already suffered enough.

I actually like her in Brawl. She's fun to use with DACUS, tether recovery, stored needles, and up-b ledge glide (don't know the proper term).

You're forgetting his reverse Falcon Punch.

I think Sakurai has mentioned before it was once his neutral-b, but felt like Ike wasn't the character he envisioned if he had a long-range move.

I can kind of see it. You want it to be dangerous to approach him and, if he's zoning you all day, it's dangerous to stay away, too.

Yeah, I remember this and I actually get it. Even if it were as I imagined it (a slowish but persistent projectile not to dissimilar from Dante's Drive [quarter circle + special] in Marvel 3), it'd probably give him a scary level of stage presence for a guy that's mostly about clubbing you with a giant sword/the fear of said sword.

I'm playing Fire Emblem Awakening right now, and Chrom hype is reaching max levels. I've always liked the FE characters in Smash, so I'm really excited to play as one that I actually know about and can relate to. I do hope he will be varied enough from Ike and Marth though. His moveset is going to be interesting.

Also, Marth will be fine.

This would literally be the worst.

The more days that pass by, the more curious I am to see what Chrom's going to play like. Still doesn't remove the taste of getting three similar featured lord swordsmen being in versus getting a cool new female or fighting archetype altogether with Anna or Robin but eh.

While I'm not against Mewtwo returning, I tend to laugh at people using the "he got a movie!" as an argument as though it solidifies him coming back. Also it shows their lack of knowledge on Pokemon in general.

Hint: Charizard X already fills the "we advertise the Pokemon a lot". I mean, why put Mewtwo when you can put that one Pokemon starring more than in one media?

Shiek is going to be top tier again. And it will be glorious. Even if Falcon is shit again, I can forgive it as long as there are some good characters that are good.

All these changes in characters and things got me thinkin. Who are the characters you've mained throughout the series? I play a bunch of characters, but my competitive mains are...

N64- Captain Falcon
Melee - Captain Falcon
Brawl - Snake

I still use Falcon a lot in Brawl, but damn did they Al Capone him with that nerf bat.

I'm also playing through it now and I'm curious to see what they would go for. The main differentiator I could see would be integrating the pair up somehow, but I would think the leak would have been chrom + ___ in that case.

Random thought came to me as we were discussing perplexing nerfs. PREDICTION: Ice Climbers return. Nana can't attack when popo is grabbing someone. Nana can't grab at all.

barely played N64 but

Melee - Dr. Mario/Captain Falcon
Brawl - Sonic

I could see it going a few ways. Maybe they decide to put him in with his Great Lord class and armor, and he could wield lances too? That could make for some interesting shenanigans. What I'm more expecting though, is that he'll just stick with the Falchion and just be in the same vein as Marth and Ike.

I could see his Aether being a move that lunges forward with a curve, (like the top half of a circle), kind of like how it is in the game, and things like that. Also, you know what his final smash should be?

FREDRICK.

Just Fredrick. And it will be the best FS in the game.

I think I read a neat idea about how Chrom uses the Fire Emblem as a shield, on top of his sword, which could make for a neat moveset premise.

But yeah, so many blue-haired Lords are bumming me out.

N64 - Samus

Brawl - Samus
and Metaknight because Brawl Samus is zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

With Smash 4, I'm looking at Little Mac and, surprise surprise, Samus.

If it makes you feel better, Samus was one of the two characters I played at Smash Fest, and she felt like night and day from Brawl, (in a good way), at least with her physical attacks. She's one of my favorite Nintendo characters and I love playing as her, but her progressive slope into ass has made me sad. Was very happy to see her getting notable improvements finally.

The second character I played was Little Mac. He was a fuckin riot. My most wanted newcomer will most certainly be my new main. Along with Snake.....
