Speaking of items, for those of us that play with items on, are there any new items they've announced that you see yourself turning off?
While i'm a huge zelda fan, the beetle being a one hit KO item is pretty overpowered. Even dragoon might not kill you if you bounce off a wall.
This isn't a gameplay complaint, but a bizarre number of the items are from Kid Icarus Uprising.
Mario, Zelda, and Kid Icarus all have the most items based on a franchise, in that order. It makes sense since all 3 games were pretty item-heavy. KI:U multiplayer had tons of items.
Not many other franchises have that many 'items' in them (that aren't already in smash or part of the fighter), so it makes perfect sense, honestly.
Pokemon is the only one missing, but they get pokeballs, which kinda make up for it.
Punch-out has no items.
Metroid only has upgrades for samus, not items.
Animal crossing has furniture, but all of the usable items are part of villager's moveset. Pitfall is already an item.
Pac man's... items... seem to be part of his moveset.
Mega man doesn't really have many items (maybe the health pickup would work....)
Fire emblem could use a spell book! Or a warp staff/rod thing. Maybe a glass sword/axe/spear?
Pikmin could use the spice stuff that makes you powerful for a brief amount of time, but not many other items.
Sonic could maybe use the shields from sonic 3?
Donkey kong already has bananas and barrels in smash, not much else.
Earthbound could probably use a few more, but they're mainly a 'Jeff' thing.
Most franchises might have some missing items but no franchises are as item heavy as mario, Zelda, and kid icarus. While it's easy to say sakurai is showing preference to his own franchise, I think it's just that sakurai is repping items based on how many items those franchises have.
