Mario Bros., Luigi's Mansion, 75m, Pirate Ship, Spear Pillar, Flat Zone 2, Hanenbow, Green Hill Zone, and the Melee stages were hidden.Brawl didn't have hidden stages, so I don't expect that either.
Which of the below is most likely?
A.) We get Battlefield for For Glory mode
B.) We get Battlefield versions of some stages for For Glory mode
C.) Neither of the above (lol)
D.) That the competitive players use For Fun anyway because it has more options regarding stage selection
E.) Sakurai pls

Some Neogafer said Ridley was going to be revealed this week.

Really? Because it really didn't sound like it to me. Besides I need my Falco with the accent!
I realise that I lash out at people (probably too much) and that it's not exactly the best way to represent the smash community in the best light to certain audiences.
But it just gets hard not to be pissed off when you deal with it so much, especially for a game you love.
I mean, I spent 3 nights in a row arguing (and I mean I literally argued with them for 8 hours straight through the night) with people over on /v/ who I'm pretty sure were just shitposting to get a reaction from me, I started out calm but I've become increasingly sick of it and so used to the idea that people are doing it out of spite now that I just default to being the aggressor.
I know it's not the best mentality to be coming to GAF with considering it's userbase, but sometimes I see a post and it just sets me off, probably why I get banned so much.

Smash Bros. games are like beef.
Melee is cooked rare full of flavor, and practically on accident. It's unbelievably delicious.
Brawl is a much larger slab of beef, cooked well done. The flavors that the Melee people liked are intentionally taken out, but there's more food there, and it still tastes fine overall. There's no more red in the meat, because it scared people away. With enough sauce (project M) you can make it taste like Melee.
64 is a chunk of beef that has a PHD and teaches at a university.
For Glory seems like such an odd addition to me. It's Sakurai trying to throw a bone to a group he totally doesn't understand, as if any competitive player would want to do a 2 minute timed match on FD only.
Joeinky, where did you hear there would be actual lobbies online? I don't count that shit in Brawl as a lobby btw. Something akin to MK8, but not really. I can't remember Namco fighters online that much, but I remember Soul Calibur V having a pretty nice online.
This exactly, I think Sakurai knows that competitive players don't play that way. He is not that out of touch, and isn't as insular towards the competitive community as it seems.
Now, if he actually does think that they play that way, then lol. I don't know what could've ever given that impression. Wannabe high level Smash players?

This is an excellent post, probably the best food Smash analogy thing on here.
It's the same thing as the cake analogyLook to emb's post for an example of an analogy, you can actually understand what he's trying to say.
Why is miiverse so insane?Time for Miiverse shit, this time it's Smash Bros causing a rebellion

Because of the admins, apparently. Why is miiverse so insane?

But the cake analogy wasn't about the smash franchise. it was apparently about me.
That one was, but it was more of a joke about all the silly cake analogies going on a few pages backI bet JoeInky would taste terrible if he were a cake. Low quality ingredients tbh
No, that was just a joke making fun of the cake analogy. And you too I guess. But the cake analogy wasn't about the smash franchise. it was apparently about me.
Food analogies are like Smash Bros.
64 is like comparing Smash directly to different types of food. One may be cake, one may be salsa, but in the end each hits you hard and never loosens its jaw.
Melee is like jumping high into the air to explain the intricate details of why one cake is better than another, emphasizing all the different possible aspects and how things have changed over time. It makes insightful parallels between patterns in real life and the differences in the Smash Bros. franchise entries.
Brawl is like an overstated analogy, that jumps to big conclusions like 'oh, one sushi roll is perfect' or 'the new pizza hut pizza from pizzahut.com is filled with bits of hairs and dirt'. It comes off as garish and combative.
I like my beef well done with no animal blood gushing out please thank you. That means brawl was the best for me which is correct, great analogy!Smash Bros. games are like beef.

Sakurai took my idea for an Arwing final smash and gave it to Zero Suit Samus. Hopefully, they'll come up with something else.
I actually prefer it medium. I used to always get well done. Now I can kinda go either way with it. I never get rare or blue rare though. Despite what that should say about me, I mainly like Melee.I like my beef well done with no animal blood gushing out please thank you. I don't think For Glory is really meant for the tournament community. No one would seriously use online for tournaments anyway. For Glory likely exists due to many people turning items off and choosing Final Destination in Brawl's online. So, Sakurai wanted to separate the people who liked to play like that from the other players. That's also likely why items can't be turned off in For Fun, and Final Destination apparently can't even be chosen there.
From this Video at 0:17 it shows For Fun Team Battle, I hope that you can play with your friend in this mode against 2 other random people. I also hope that there's For Glory Team Battle with Team Attack turned on. If these features are in the game I would literally never stop playing this game.
I forgot you couldn't even choose FD in "For Fun". That's so weird. If Sakurai really embraced the competitive community, it would've been interesting to see what he thought should be the standard.
For example, if there was a mode with an official selection of "fair" stages, 3 stocks, 7 minutes, and a tie was determined by percentage, would the community accept it?
Probably. Depends on a lot on the stage selection. I think ultimately the community would decide for itself it the stage list was good or not. 3 stocks and 7 minutes sounds pretty reasonable based on past games though, so I'd guess that will be fine.I forgot you couldn't even choose FD in "For Fun". Yeah, this. Pretty sure there was an interview around E3 if not immediately after the earlier Smash Direct where Sakurai said most of SSB4's online options/rules are a direct response to how online worked out (or didn't for that matter) in Brawl, which were mostly itemless matches on FD.I was under the impression from the direct or something that the 'for glory' wasn't based off the community or anything but rather metrics they took from online brawl matches. Apparently the for glory settings are what the larger part of the player base tended to gravitate towards... if I'm remembering right :3
Woah! You made BaraBariBall? Awesome!
I'm envious XD
Though I'm trying not to think too much about it until I finish my current game, I've dabbled with some versus game prototypes and nailing down a system that allows interesting weighted choices while still being approachable, from scratch, is as difficult as it is interesting :3
The more I think about it, the more I think Dash dancing, crouch cancelling, the L-Cancelling method I mentioned and maybe increased hitstun would give you the perfect smash game that combines aspects from all of the games.
You'd have aspects from SSB (increased hitstun, increased knockback of off throws, negligible/no SDI, even small stuff like players flashing when they fast fall which is something I'd completely forgotten about)
Aspects of melee (Better dash dancing and crouch cancelling, faster gameplay)
Aspects of brawl (infinite air dodges)
Add to that Smash 4's own unique stuff like the new edge game, air dodge lag and customisable moves and you have a recipe for success imo.
Makes me wonder what competitive smash 64 players think of 4 actually, I've been watching a lot of isai games lately.
They should bring back the thing where hitting someone with an electric attack let you see their skeleton, that was cool.
