If Sanic got more than just himself into Smash, I'd at least hope that it was Robotnik, Tails would be a close second. Go with the old mainstays not the new crew...Yelling for Shadow is almost as bad as screaming for Charmy. Shadow's at least kind of a better character, but even friggin Amy is older.

I'm not wanting to take the piss out of Shadow fans, but even they gotta see that if Sonic was suddenly more important, it would make more sense for an older character, and I'm also not agreeing with mister swear pants in that video, either.

Honestly, I feel like Sonic (for better or worse) is the one Guest Character whose actual company cares about him the most, explaining why Sakurai seems to have less control over Sonic than he does with Mega Man and Pac-Man.

Well, you actually don't have to wait 24 hours. You can actually just test it out and see if it works now. It tells you to wait 24 hours in case it doesn't work yet.

I showed someone how to do it the other day and it registered immediately and then we played online together.

It was pretty pretty at first (he lives in the UK while I'm in Canada), but then it eventually became pretty good. It was around the level that it is at when I play with people from the US.

This is just an observation, but none of the newcomers this time around are old/irrelevant/whatever you want to call it. It would appear that all the “legacy characters” Sakurai felt deserved to be playable were included in Brawl — there aren’t any newcomers in the vein of Wario, Dedede, or Diddy Kong.

• Villager and Miis were considered for Brawl, but they were deemed too peaceful at the time. They’ve since become so prominent that it would be tough to justify their exclusion again.
• Third parties weren’t considered for Brawl beyond Snake and the last minute Sonic, so this new Smash Bros. is the first opportunity to include Pac-Man and Mega Man.
• Palutena would’ve made absolutely no sense as a playable character in Brawl. She was essentially reinvented and made relevant through Kid Icarus: Uprising.
• Similarly, the first Punch-Out!! game in 15 years brought Little Mac back into the spotlight. He could’ve technically been included in Brawl as the retro character, but Pit was given priority.
• Rosalina & Luma, Wii Fit Trainer, Chorus Kids, Shulk, Chrom, and Greninja didn’t exist during the Brawl planning period.

Cranky's a trophy iirc, so rather Dixie returns or not depends on if Sakurai feels she'd work this time around. Other than that, the only really viable DKC character left is King K. Rool, who's flat-out absent from the Retro games. So I'm doubting DK will get another rep.

I think an appearance in TF certainly helps Dixie, but I don't think her chances entirely hinged on that game. (She was planned for Brawl)

As far as K. Rool, I'd think that Sakurai implementing the Kremlings into Smash Rush is an acknowledgment that he is at least open to the idea.

I play Project M more now-a-days since it is kinda like a new game in terms of gameplay. We could set up matches in the IRC as well.

Some of us in SmashGAF have already played with each other before online shut down. Though I've tried a few matches with the homebrew online solution, and it seems to be pretty good.

I'd hesitate to say grudgingly includes like they're just throwaway elements. Different series are more or less popular and have varying amounts of content to represent themselves with in each new Smash game, but DK along with Mario are the oldest and most important two franchises represented in Smash.

You probably didn't DL the right pack. Were you using Hackless or Homebrew pack?

Also no reason to use Wifi Safe now unless you care about saving replays.
Fullset differentiates between light and hard presses on triggers and has C Stick buffer.

Edit: I guess if you're seeing the PM Menu, you probably got the right one. I'd just delete every Brawl/PM related thing on your SD card and then re-copy

Double Edit: Oh neat, I never knew there was still a way to do online after the servers shutting down

I remember hearing you need to delete any custom stages on the Wii and SD card. This includes the custom stages that were automatically made on a new Brawl save file. As for the other, I can't remember which folder had all the PM stuff. I would just delete whatever folder that had all your PM stuff you just extracted and re-copy it.

That's what people are claiming, but no one's provided any proof. I heard a Nintendo employee say that the three Mii Fighters share a single box on the select screen, but nothing about that box replacing the random select.

I was mainly talking about how Sakurai doesn't seem to be a big fan of Metroid. Most of the levels are basically the same thing, and the one that wasn't was from the first ten minutes of the game. It's just always seemed to me that he's not a huge fan.

That roll was so long overdue lol. I don't think Sakurai actively dislikes any of the characters he includes. If you observe some of the animations, poses, music, and even some of the sound clips. You can see he and the team do their research to represent some of the characters well. He also states when working on a character he treats them as if they're his favorite. I believe it.

I would've liked a stage on the giant moving puppet things from Grassland Groove though.
DK got robbed of a decent stage in Brawl, and will likely get some jungle stage here .

There are kremlings in this Smash, so perhaps that is not a good sign for Retro Kong fans. Although, the Retro baddies aren't as memorable outside of some of the bosses, so that could be another reason.

Also, there are some custom stages that are stored on the Wii and not the SD Card which you should check if you deleted.

For every reason you have to think that he'll return, there is one for why he might not make it back.

Exactly, but the same goes for all unannounced characters. The only thing we can really go by is evidence.

The reason people assume Squirtle and Ivysaur are gone is because Pokemon Trainer is gone, and that concept is the only reason those two were in Brawl in the first place. There's also the fact that Greninja already represents the water type and Ivysaur is by far the least popular of his three evolutions. I don't even need to explain why Charizard was able to come back as a solo character.
The reason people assume Lucas is gone is because of the Gematsu leak, which has proven to be accurate thus far. Even if it hasn't been confirmed yet, there are legitimate reasons to assume those three characters will be cut.

However, there has been no indication from anywhere that Snake will be cut. People like to cite the Kojima interview, but Kojima wouldn't be able to say if he was in or not. That interview means squat. The Sega guys pretty much said the same thing about Sonic. Snake's chances aren't any different than Toon Link, Lucario, Ike, Wolf or Sonic... especially Sonic. It's ok to think he'll be cut, but I have yet to see an actual legit reason as to why anyone thinks that.
