I have always seen Chrom as a power user myself. I think it will be more difficult to distance him from how Ike plays then Marth, Falcoln notwithstanding.

I was looking up Chrom to see if he ever had the Falchion in official art (he does) and found this tidbit

Chrom was voted the most popular male character in the Fire Emblem: Awakening Character Popularity Poll in Japan.

Seems likely he'll make it in to Smash, then.

I legitimately sat here staring at the text box for like ten minutes trying to come up with an interesting way Chrom could play without Pair Up. I just... he's got the Fire Emblem as a shield, so maybe a more defensive play-style?

...

God, fuck Chrom.

Ehh no thanks. Female morgan is better than male morgan.

That doesn't fit with Chrom's "popular depiction" as a swordsman, which is what he's undoubtedly going to be. Smash Bros. tends to focus on what a character is best known for. I do think Lucina will appear in Chrom's move set (maybe as a Final Smash) since pairing up was such a heavily promoted new feature, though.

The depiction doesn't have to strictly follow along with the character (Captain Falcon, Ganondorf, R.O.B. and Snake certainly haven't) , and if they have to invent/bend something for the sake of the character to make them playable/interesting, they will.

Gameplay and practicality have almost always come first when it comes to movesets.

God, fuck Chrom.

I'm sorry Moon but you're going to have to go for a swim.

CHROOOooooOOOOooooOOOMMMM!!!

How was that?

Chrom casually hunts bears. For food. Like "I'll go gather food" and then he comes back with a dead bear. To be roasted on a stick over an open flame. He does that in the first chapter of the game.

He'll be slightly heavier than Marth and slightly lighter than Ike.

In all seriousness, I don't KNOW how to envision Chrom as an exciting addition. What would Chrom do that Marth doesn't already?

But Sakurai has said that newcomers in this game are based on bringing something new to the experience. He might, and hopefully, have something unexpected planned for Chrom. Maybe he'll have javelins. That's exciting, right?

Can you truly resist his smoldering stare?

Oh internet, you so cray cray with your creations sometimes. I actually know what this is referencing.

It means we're probably getting this music in the game somewhere: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMyrDuk2Z9Q

Shit.

I've said this story before, but it was still pretty hilarious when I made my avatar a chick since I preferred her design and Chrom suddenly fell in love with me because I forgot there was a marriage system in Awakening.

Yes I tried to romance Tharja during that same playthrough before I realized there was no LGBT-elements so what

Uh, wouldn't this be true? It's like how the Metroid Prime series aren't mainline Metroid games; it's a spinoff series in the same universe. Those spinoffs are often better than the mainline games, but they're still their own thing.

Doesn't matter anyway, for the same reason Metroid Prime not being "mainline" doesn't matter.
Metroid prime isn't a spin off. Its still main series and directly related and placed into the games story. The only difference is that its in 3D just like Zelda and Mario entered into after being 2D.

I'm thinking Chrom may have one or several moves similar to Zelda's Phantom Slash, where he conjures up a separate character that deals out an attack. At its most extreme, I picture Sumia on her pegasus serving as his recovery, or Frederick on his horse attacking as his side special. His special could be a ranged attack in the form of Robin appearing at his side to cast a spell, and his down special could heal him or others by calling upon his sister, Lissa. And of course, for the final smash, Lucina pops out of a time-travel portal to help him tag-team the enemy in a flurry of critical strikes.

I think the only way to make Chrom exciting is to make that basically the entire basis of his special moveset. Every single one of his special attacks should call someone else, to highlight the whole "army" aspect of Fire Emblem. Final Smash could be Tiki in dragon form, like seen in her trophy.

After playing Awakening, I cannot see Chrom as a power character a la Ike, if I had to make a style for Chrom, I'd probably make it very similar to Marth, maybe a bit slower

It's a spinoff in the sense that it's its own subplot that has little effect on the rest of the series.

Metroid Prime is my favorite game and I do not think it being a spinoff makes it any less amazing. There's a reason I constantly bemoan the lack of decent Metroid Prime trilogy content in Smash.

Stage Builder is probably back. Can't see why it wouldn't be.

I just hope you can do more in it this time. It felt really limiting in Brawl.

For Chrom, I now kind of wish we didn't know the Fire Emblem stage already. Just because it would've been really cool if it was the Outrealm Gate from Awakening and it would flash through all kinds of locations from the series.

Maybe he'll have post-fight dialog lines that reference the Outrealm Gate while fighting Ike or Marth.

I'm all for Chrom. My favourite character from FE:A, call me lame. I don't want a gimmicky move set, though. :(

for true? out of everyone? :p

I get what you're saying but with Ike returning only Samurai knows what to do with Chrom to make him unique. also with move customizing I wonder if the FE guys will share any similar moves.

I think stage builder might be a Wii U exclusive because of the gamepad and all. I really hope they
copy and paste
Mario Maker
and slap on the stage builder name.
I mean, it's so quick and intuitive. It also has a lot of options and the layout and ui are amazing

Insert (lol) username joke here

...so much Fire Emblem awakening talk.

Wish I had the cash to buy it @_@
Blame Anna for keeping 3DS game prices so darn high! She's the Nintendo mascot of "It mints gold coins!"

I bet Chrom ends up pretty different from Ike and Marth if for nothing else than because Sakurai has used the same basic base three times for three different FE Lords now.

That doesn't fit with Chrom's "popular depiction" as a swordsman, which is what he's undoubtedly going to be. Smash Bros. tends to focus on what a character is best known for. here's my take on how sakurai might make chrom interesting
chrom from recent memory is the only lord that can class change in the game (i dont remember if marth could in his games but i don't ever recall having that ability) (He is also the first great lord to be able to use two types of weapons as well (i think all other lords only specifically used one type at least in marths and ikes case they have only used oneof course someone with more fe knowledge can correct me on this)

but anyway i have a feeling as some might have mentioned chroms interesting game play mechanic might come from the fact that he can use a variety of weapons and be more akin to link than anyone lol using the class change mechanic

even if they only use the sword/javelin combo he could potentially have the most range or spacing game out of the three

i also agree that the dual mechanic will play a role somewhere probably in his fs maybe it will be akin to a double critical or something in that vein

anyway sorry the long bit of text but thats the way i see it
