Except whenever they replace something that was a single colour with some form of pattern or what have you it always ends up looking tacky as fuck and you can't help but not be reminded of those shitty brawl mods where the modder doesn't have the skill to actually create the model and basically tries to paste a different design onto an existing model.

What is this about those leaks being the only new characters? Man that would make me even more upset than I already am about the miis. That time could've been dedicated for 3 other characters that can actually be used online and you know, are actual characters. Besides like I said previously here, mewtwo hasn't been shown yet so unless he's a hidden character or is treated as a vet we're still waiting on him

We don't know for sure, but the leaks certainly seem to suggest that they're it. Mewtwo would probably count as a veteran though, and there's always DLC!

Yeah, Sakurai's been making up for past mistakes. Dark Samus, new Ike, etc.

Radiant Dawn has the excuse of being recent, like Prime 3 (which had no content in Brawl). It's understandable if Sakurai didn't have as much access to the game during development.

Prime 2 was out for years. No Prime 2 Samus. And now Samus looks like she did in Other M, because it's the most recent Metroid game.

Hooray for celebrating the shittiest part of Metroid history.

Easily the most exciting match I've seen. I thought the slingshot was only on Bair. Too bad it's also on Fair, because a Bair-only projectile would have upped the goofiness of Villager.

His third leak (the Smashboards post that mentioned Lucas and "Mii Fighter") mentioned every character again and the wording really made it sound like that he didn't know of anyone else. I have trouble picturing any newcomers beyond Chrom, Shulk and Chorus Men, at least until DLC.

I don't think he's an awful choice but I certainly wouldn't say he's likely. Sakurai's comments about 3rd party characters make it sound like you practically have to be mascot status to stand a chance, and while Layton is popular for sure, I don't think he really holds a candle to Snake, Sonic, Mega Man or Pac-Man.

Maybe in the future Sakurai will be more open to characters like Layton but I don't really see it this time.
