Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread XI: Where 90% correct equals 100% wrong

But as you said, you have giant monster hands and tentacle fingers. I have small baby hands, I don't think I could even reach the shoulder buttons when playing with the d-pad in a 2DS.

I misread your post, but you can still press the shoulder buttons from the side.

So do we think the 3DS UI indicates less of a single player mode than potentially expected? Or is that likely under the "Smash" category?

Without seeing the Wii U menu, we can't possibly judge. Brawl had stuff more tucked away and sub-divided than Melee. That said, I think it's pretty odd that 3DS would get an exclusive mode whilst the Wii U has no such exclusive announced thus far.

For the Wii U version I want an adventure mode like Melee's that's not rushed. So every franchise gets a level or 2 like the Mario and Zelda levels.

Well with the omitting of SSE, the standard Classic, All-Star, Event, Target Run combo would be nice.
Hmm. Well, as long as the Classic and All-Star modes are in the game, I will be satisfied. Half of my Smash playtime was spent in Classic/All-Star modes. As for the Wii U version, it will probably have some exclusive mode too. I can't imagine an exclusive mode more exciting than Smash Run, though...

I love this pic of the day and I love the menu.
So many things to talk about. "Challenge mode": I hope is filled with missions like Kid Icarus Uprising. At least 300 of them.
Also the WiiU button is interesting. We knew there was going to be a connection like that but I didn't expect it to be so predominant. Games & more is kinda cheap but I guess it's where all the others stuff is shoved like trophies, event matches, home run contest etc.
Also Smash Run confirmed to be basically the only big mode for the 3DS version and I'm OK with that.

Yeah it's there but it's nothing more than Classic or All-Stars mode. I hope the second is cut actually.
Now that I think about it we saw a glimpse of a 3DS mode structured like a map, with Mario walking from a point to another like in Super Mario World kinda. I don't think is something that big though.

Something using the Gamepad like the rumoured/theorized Boss Attack mode would be appropriate. And I really want Event mode! Added another layer to the single player game.

Yeah, that could be interesting... and disappointing, depending of the choice of bosses for the game.

Why should they cut All-Stars mode?

If you were a Pokemon fan you'd know that it probably provides the most comprehensive source of Poke-information on the net. So there's that.
I think bulbapedia provides more info and the design of the site is a bit more pleasing to the eyes. I like serebii because it is updated more frequently, though.
Sakurai should make EVERY menu. So much damn style
Aren't the menus designed by his wife, though?

I guess, that "Smash" will have all the Single-Player- and Local-Multiplayer-Modi. Smash Run is on the first screen only because the developers want to showcase the mode, which is exclusive for the 3DS-Version. "Games & More" properly has mini-games, which don't fall under normal Smash-Gameplay-Rules (for example a mini-game to get trophies).

Sakruai alread announced, that the Wii U-Version will also get something special. Right now, they don't wanna take away the thunder from Smash-Run. After the release of the 3DS-Version we will finally hear more about the other mode.

Yeah, I think he's going to reveal it after the release of the 3DS version to generate hype for the Wii U one.

Should have called it Smash Dash

I think most were expecting the menus to be very different. The layout is almost exactly the same. But they were already nice looking, so you can't complain. Don't make me post the PSABR menu again.

If you want a cumbersome menu, check out KoF XIII. Great game but damn I don't wanna scroll through 13 options.

The concept of Michiko Sakurai menus is a easy to read visual language. The first time you go through the menu, you read the labels on shapes to navigate yourself through the menu. But after that you can really easy gasp, which shape you wanna hit to progress into your chosen direction. Press the big red circle to play Online or the green trapeze to go into Smash Run. There is almost no need to ever red the labels again. It basically represent the simplicity of this:

Other than that the menu looks completely original, is easy to recognize and is kind of an trademark of the Sakruai couple.

Damn, that is fucking smart actually.

Sakurai is just focusing on announcing things from the 3DS first. After all, it is coming first.

There will be a guaranteed Wii U-exclusive mode. It's a Sakurai product after all.

Everyone playing Smash....and im just here on GAF. Reading with envy as I wait for more impressions. D:

Speaking of which, is the build the same? Same characters?

Apparently the loading times are faster now, so I think it is a different build. Same characters, though.

Oh it's already started? So we can expect some news like they said or not?

Not the tournament, but SDCC is sending people with 2/3DS' (Maybe chained to them; they were at the Best Buy I played it at) to go to people tweeting #BringMeSmash so they can play a round of Smash Run.

And when were we expecting big news at the tourney? Granted, we got newcomers after the Invitational/EVO, but those weren't that long ago; we'll get a veteran if we're lucky.
C'mon, Bandana Dee...
