Competitive players aren't going to buy this in droves when the tournament version is just around the corner. After the Wii U version, the 3DS version will rarely be played seriously.
Has anyone figured out the full roster yet?
I mean, if not, why am I paying you guys?

My first thought was the stand that was already mentioned. It might require a little care, but it would be simple enough. As much as I'd like to play with a GCN controller rather than the 3DS controls, I sense a practical problem: you'd have to set the 3DS down somewhere while you hold the controller, meaning it wouldn't move with you. Normally, when you play on a handheld, the console moves with you as you shift in your chair or tilt your head or whatever other little motions you make. Thus you continue to look at the screen head-on the entire time. But if you're holding the controller, you can't move the 3DS as you move to keep that head-on perspective. TV screens are large enough that this isn't a problem - your movements aren't big enough to significantly alter your perspective - but on the much smaller 3DS screen, the effects will be more dramatic.
Maybe I'm making too much out of this, but I foresee this being a real problem.

This totally is the Metroid lore thread.Guys this isn't the Metroid lore thread.
We should be talking about Smash lore.
Which is only canon in the Mario and Kirby universes by the way, both of which split according to who wins a match.
lol, can't argue with thatFree money.
I hope this is a joke post.No I'd be kind of bothered if he is in, thats truly a scraping the bottom of the barrel. Even K rool should be in Smash before someone like Duck Hunt Dog. Never mind half the assist trophies like Dark Samus, Takamaru, Saku, Starfy, etc should all be playable before that stupid dog.

This is from the person who made the 3DS capture device though apparently... so maybe the two can be combined to allow people to play the 3DS version on a larger screen with a GCN controller? Would be cool.
But overall, it doesn't really matter. The 3DS version only gets to shine for at most 4 months. Then we get the main course.

It's happening.
So good other than that wonderful glitched Spider Ball track camera, you mean.![]()
I dunno. Plenty of casuals played Brawl with the Wiimote and Nunchuk. I doubt many will sign up for some unofficial, unportable, probably expensive peripheral to play a handheld game with the 3DS balancing on their lap or on a stand. It may not be very useful for the competitive scene, but plenty of casuals will want this. I'm not one to really get down on the 3DS's controls - partly because I haven't played the game yet, and partly because I've heard from a lot of people who have that the controls work well - but I bet a GCN controller would still be better for Smash than the 3DS's controls. I'd definitely buy this if it was viable and relatively cheap.
The Light Gun is already an item though, so the most important part of Duck Hunt is represented.I hope this is a joke post.
DHD is without a doubt, the most deserving rep for a character that hasn't been seen since NES days. Everyone knows him, everyone that had a NES had to have had Duck Hunt. Its not even a question, he is without a doubt the most deserving NES rep.
Weather he gets in or not is another matter. Any NES rep could get in before him of course. And while I usually can see others different oppinions anyone who says any other NES Retro character is better fit than DHD is just lying. DHD is just too iconic.
Also DHD less deserving than any character you listed is just laughable. Not meaning to be rude, but come on now.
I use the screw attack skip too lol.You talking about the camera for that one power up in the boonies of Torvus Bog's upper area? I always cheese that by waiting until I get the screw attack and skipping to that one platform you can land and morph ball on. :lol
Now if you want to talk about real glitches, GGs to anyone who got hit with that stupid Echo Visor lock puzzle glitch in Sanctuary Fortress' Caretaker Drone room. If that game were any other game it'd have gotten launched out of the window when my first play through came to a screeching halt because the instance programming that allowed for those locks to remain "active" events to trigger the next sequence (opening the door to the dark portal and allowing further access to Sanctuary) was fucked.
Other than that Prime 2 is a game I play the same way I played it the first time, scour everything any time you get the chance.
The Light Gun is already an item though, so the most important part of Duck Hunt is represented.
Huh.That's the Super Scope, light gun is the Zapper.
Huh.
Wonder why the light gun isn't an item then.

Well, uh... Yeah, that could be an issue. Maybe they could use the Zapper design and just hope the Japanese get the reference.Because in Japan it looks like a real-life revolver, and is called "Gun", apparently.

Imagine Pikachu carrying this around.
Fierce Deity Saria SSJ3I'm actually waiting more for the Hyrule Warriors leak since it's next week...
Really hoping we get some surprise characters. I expect atleast one more unannounced character.

Actually, if this plugs in on the back, you might not be able to even use the stand.
Is that GameCube controller for 3ds real!? I want it. I want it!
But one of these would be even better:

I don't remember this happening at all in the GC version, then I was playing the trilogy version last year and many swears were uttered, somehow I made it though.
I didn't realize it was actually a thing.
Holy shit, I never knew that! And that guy is my fucking hero.
A non-diamond layout would be terrible for many 3DS games. But one of these would be even better:

R.O.B. came out in Japan a few months before America, and his default Smash Bros. color is based on the Japanese model. The sticker on his base even says "Family Computer Robot."Was ROB a big deal in japan? Was he released there at all? I'm honestly not aware.
http://offworld.boingboing.net/2009/08/20/retro-effect-a-day-in-the-stud.htmlI ask Tanabe if the fact that Samus is female changed his approach to how she interacted with that world, and he reponds that while they were careful about the way they animated her, it wasnt specifically because she was female but more that they were reticent to simply make her feel powerful by using powerful looking or barbaric animations.
Through the discussions with Retro, he says, we came up with keyword elegant. Shes beautifully elegant, but also powerful. Tanabe demonstrates what he means by suddenly grabbing his translator by the collar, pantomiming a hand-gun to the translators head, and explains that one of the scenarios they ran through with co-creator Sakamoto is how Samus would react to a Space Pirate taking someone hostage.
What we heard from him is that she would not yell hold on! She wouldnt show any emotions at all, shed just bring up her gun and hit the pirate with a head shot. Tanabe loosens his grip on the surprisingly unfazed translator and brings his fingers in one slow sweep up to his own head, and with a verbal bajoooom fires dead-eye, leaning back in slow motion, his hands showing us the arc and splatter of Space Pirate viscera spilling from the cap of his skull. Shes very calm, very professional in killing. She doesnt show any emotions on the surface, but shes very passionate inside her.

I can't look at these without getting sad it's ending.![]()
I was reading about Prime's development, and man, Kensuke Tanabe has a violent streak. o_0

What happened to this characterization of Samus? She wasn't this professional at all in Other M.

The capture cards are definitely really expensive... so in that kind of case, it'd be better just to buy a Wii U (and you'd get a whole new system out of it. =) )Still, it would be nice for people who stick with the 3DS version because they don't have a Wii U to have the option to use the GCN controller. I like the idea of the stand, and especially the capture device, but I'd worry that all those peripherals would cost more money than they're worth.
Dammit, I just realized I contributed to the beginning of another inevitable Other M SmashGAF cycle.
I voted just to see where it would place me lol.I like the geographical breakdown of the votes.

Hello person in this building that I zoomed in far enough to hide street names.
We'll be discussing Ridley soon enough. All roads lead to Ridley.
Just wanted to ask two burning questions I've had for this:
1) What sort of single player mode does this game have? I heard they got rid of the story mode from last time? I hope its not just some random fight/ladder deal.
To be more specific, all roads are built on Ridley.
