Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

I'd LOVE to see a character from The Wonderful 101 in Smash Bros., but unfortunately I don't think it's going to happen. Aside from The Wonderful 101 being a smaller and less notable franchise, I don't believe a Wonderful One would make a good fighter on its own. A lone Wonderful One wouldn't be a very good representation of the actual game, and implementing multiple Wonderful Ones into a single character would probably be very difficult. You can't just have Wonder-Red without Wonder-Blue, Wonder-Green, and the rest. Well, you could, I suppose...but it wouldn't feel right.

You could play as Platinum Robo and have the Unite Morphs as your smash and specials.
Something like that would work pretty well. If anything you can do an Olimar and have a special move to gather Wonderful Ones to make your attacks stronger.

Immediate reactions?

Not getting rid of Ness in favour of Lucas.

Replacing Jigglypuff with a female trainer when they can just give pokemon trainer with WFT treatment.

Tom Nook, really?

Waluigi, REALLY?

No Ridley?

6/10 - Content I guess, some poor choices.

Immediate reactions?

Personally not a fan.

I feel as if Pokemon Trainer Female is going to end up being a skin for PKMN Trainer.
I still think Pac-Man is undeserving. Neither is Waluigi or Tom Nook.

Tom Nook is probably the fucking Final Smash where he summons a giant house and drops a huge debt on all the players.

Mewtwo is a new transform character with an option for Mega Mewtwo Y.

Bring back the retro characters like Famicom and Game and Watch.

The list is like Brawl HD with a couple characters out.

I haven't played Xenoblade but for those who have what would you personally select as a stage to rep the series? I'm interested.

That's tough, since there's plenty of great locations! I think Sword Valley could make an interesting stage, though something more majestic like Gaur Plains could work too.

Replace Takamaru with Isaac/Felix from Golden Sun and it's pretty much perfect.

Well, I guess:
- I'd prefer King K. Rool over Dixie.
- I don't think Zelda needs another rep, but I guess I wouldn't mind for Sheik to be cut and Impa to take her moveset.
- I'd be okay with Chrom replacing Ike, opening the door for a third FE rep that isn't another fucking blue-haired swordsman.

I could also live without Falco, King Dedede, Palutena, Lucario, Jigglypuff, Lucas, Game & Watch, Little Mac and Ridley.

"They screw up the franchise order"
Yoshi is not close to mario =P

Cp. Falcon and Jigglypuff are one of the n64 originals, they are the ones with the least chance of being cut

Game & Watch is just too important in Nintendo history to get cut, and I personaly doubt that anyone that is not a clone will be cut. Mewtwo/Lucario are the only one because their franchise has WAY too much potential representatives

Wonderfull Red and Nook are pure Assist Trophy Material, and I still have doubts about W101 being a Nintendo IP

My question was less about how likely it is, more just if you would be happy with it or not.

And if Wonder Red were in the game but only as an AT I would lose it.

I personally believe that Sakurai decided to sneak in a Toon Zelda reveal along with normal Zelda. It just seems like it would be such a bad design choice to incorporate a cartoony figure into the moveset of a more realistic looking character, especially since Zelda has never once demonstrated the ability to control a Phantom on its own.

I mean, it even has the pinkish color scheme that the Zelda-possessed Phantom is known for, not to mention such a move simply wouldn't SUIT the character's playstyle (PUN). For all we know, Sakurai could've intentionally hidden the Phantom's signature red eyes to make it less obvious and cause discussions of confusion like this.

Here's an idea, the soldier statue dude is neither one of Zelda's moves nor is it an Assist Trophy.

The Assist Trophy IS Toon Zelda. She conjures some stuff up and maybe one of those things is the bro we see pictured.

Call me when it gets confirmed

I don't really see a world where toon Zelda exists and has a different enough moveset from Zelda to the point where she's wielding suits of armor and yet toon link remains a clone. Sorry, TZ isn't making it in as anything more than an afterthought clone, just like how she almost got into brawl.

Ugh, I'm so not down for Toon Zelda. It almost seems too likely at this point, with the Phantom Dark Nut move and the fact that there were plans for Toon Zelda and Shiek in Brawl. UGH. WHY NOT GROOSE? WHY NOT GHIRAHIM? I'LL TAKE FREAKING VAATI FOR GOODNESS SAKE.

They should at least have Groose's theme in on the SS stage so I can put that shit on loop.

come on man. this is smash. nothing is going to be just like the games or make any sense at all necessarily. and sakurai doesn't give a shit about random forum threads.

I'd love to see Maxwell from Scribblenauts. That would be such an awesome new character. They could even have Feep be the super smash attack.

Nah his Final Smash would be the NeoGAF ball coming through the stage and obliterating all the other characters with speech bubbles surrounding it saying things like, "I don't like Mario's colors" or "Takamaru deserved this slot!" or whatever.

Yuss.

I find this line of thinking to be pretty flimsy considering a significant proportion of Smash characters have moves not actually based on anything they've done in their own games or don't act as they would in their regular games.

People seem to be more into removing Wolf than Falco despite being "more unique".
I hope Wolf stays. As you say, he has a more unique moveset than Falco, and as a Villain of the series he complements Fox much better than Falco does as well.

I'd like to see Lucario cut, but it's probably not going to happen. What Gen VI Pokemon could fill his spot? Pikachu stays, Jigglypuff stays, Lucario stays and Mewtwo returns. Pokemon Trainer uses Gen VI starters (Chespin/Braixen/Greninja)

It would almost certainly be Gaur Plains, the most famous location in the game, and one so early that it isn't a spoiler for anyone.

However, I'd pick
The Fallen Arm
as the most interesting location and most representative of the actual game. If not that, then
Eryth Sea.

As for which Xenoblade character should make it in, it'll almost certainly be Shulk, which would be, you know, fine. But both Riki and -warning MASSIVE spoiler -
Mecha-Fiora
would be far, far better, both in terms of distinctive visual design and especially in terms of adding new styles of play to Smash.

Personally, I don't want Pokémon Trainer to change. I'm also not sure which Gen VI Pokémon would be a good fit for Smash. If anything, they could make Lucario/Mewtwo mega evolve somehow.

This doesn't make any sense. They managed move sets for Captain Falcon, whose game is about driving cars, Star Fox, whose game is about flying around in space, ROB whose... You get the picture.

Why are people acting like it's some ridiculous, technically infeasible pipe dream to put a character from a 3D brawler into a 2D one? I really don't understand Smashgaf.

Pokemon was the hardest choice. People say Mewtwo is now more relevant... But so is Lucario. He also got a mega evolution, and plays a part in Pokemon X and Y. Having Mewtwo will give too much emphasis on Gen 1 and I didn't want to get rid of Jigglypuff. Sylveon represents gen 6, fairy types, and female gamers ;)

Hopefully Falco and Wolf will have new final smashes and Ganondorf a new moveset. I would also personally take Mario's fludd away and give Luigi the poltergust, but alas :(

I want to see more obscure characters. Characters from Xenoblade, Sin & Punishment, The Last Story, Golden Sun, The Wonderful 101, Zangeki no Reiginleiv, and Chibi-Robo! for starters.
