Super Smash Bros Wii U & 3DS Thread 4: New Year, Old Arguments

I feel bad for Hideki and Sakurai.
I mean, the pressure to get both Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros out as soon as possible must be excruciating. And it must be even worse since people expect certain level of quality and quantity.
I wouldn't like to be in their shoes right now. I wonder if other teams are helping out Konno and EAD 1 to finish MK8 sooner.

It would be pretty cool to see or learn how these games are being made and the environment that the developers work in as crunch time approaches. Although I don't think Nintendo would be as bad as other publishers like EA or Activision in terms of pressuring these games out, I do agree with you that there is immense pressure on these games to be of a severely high quality. On a side note, didn't Iwata or Miyamoto say that at Nintendo the have no problem delaying a game if they don't feel it's up to snuff? I think that was the case with Pikmin 3, and that was supposed to be the big launch window game aside from Nintendoland and NSMBU.

It's Wednesday, where the heck is Troubled Bat? =p

Pic of the day. The ropes surrounding the ring. You can actually use the stretchiness of the ropes to do a spring jump. However, you can't pull on them to launch yourself sideways in a lariat attack though.

Mario is fine, but the ropes look really weird.

I think the ropes looking that way might be from Mega Man having jumped off it.

I don't think the name would necessarily shed any light on this being a Punch-Out!! stage or a generic Smash creation. Nothing's stopping them from naming it The Ring in either case.

It's totally a Punch-Out!! ring though!!

Yeah, it's Punch Out. There's no doubt about it. It'll probably be named the Smash Circuit or something. That would be a dead giveaway.

That's the Glitz Pit; Rawk Hawk is backstage getting ready for his grand debut

Every time Mega Man is in a new screenshot it just warms my heart. Even after all these months, I still can't believe he's actually in the new Smash. My hype for this game and Mega Man being in it is just endless. I wanted him in Brawl so badly.

Anyway, yeah, that looks like Zelda's down taunt to me. There does seem to be a tiny sparkle effect next to her non-waving hand, though, so maybe not? Neat that you can jump off the ropes, too.

I would be 100% okay with this. No, 150%.

Huh, that's really cool. Interesting stage, and it's great that we're getting some actual info about it!

Also, Zelda's down-taunt is odd, but it's fun to do randomly in a match.

Kinnikuman/Kinnikumantaro deconfirmed, preorder canceled.

They won't be in that new jump all-stars game, either...

That light is coming from a stage light.I was wondering as well and zoomed in.

the boxing stage visually makes smash 4 the most appealing bar none, character models, lighting, everything just looks at their best on this stage.

Mario is doing his best Dragon Chan impression.

This week hasn't been that great so far considering how hyped we were since it was the big return after a break...

Oh well, we'll probably see DeDeDe Friday or Monday.

First (and forever) it was the Ridley stage hazard, then it was the mario galaxy stage tease, and now it's Zelda's Phantom. He's just adding more stuff for us to scratch our heads! At least he spilled the beans on one of those three.

Also I'm kinda hoping Little Mac is an unlockable character. Don't want all newcomers in from the jump.
