Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

Incorrect because 10/24 is not for Sonic but Snake, where it is revealed that PUNISHED SNAKE is in along with a Phantom Pain themed level, and Sonic has been scrapped because Sonic is poo.

Ugh, I still can't believe they gave Ridley heels in Other M.
He always had heels. What feet don't have heels?

You know what'd be boss?

Deoxys. It will never happen thanks the limitations of models (especially now that the 3rd generation of Pokémon is so far behind us), but a Deoxys character switching between models for different moves and actions like in that one movie would look amazing.
That sprite looks weird, and not good.
Lies, Red and Blue Mewtwo is the best-looking Mewtwo. Mewtwo has 110 base attack, he should look physically intimidating.

He looks derpy to me rather than intimidating, mewtwo got more intimidating looking as his design evolved. Well... as intimidating as a cat fetus can be.

That doesn't even sound like a Pokémon name. It sounds like a Yugi-Oh! character.
I had to look this guy up:

Dafuq is that? You guys who have stuck with Pokémon since the beginning, I don't know how you managed under the weight of all of these BS character designs that Nintendo keeps crapping out. Pokemon used to resemble real-life animals or mythical creatures, with the odd Weezing or Voltorb thrown in the mix--but even they were more imaginatively designed than the weird crap they come up with now.

*grumble, grumble* I just don't get it. *yells at clouds*
Wait, you think darkrai's design is bad? You even shit on the name? What the hell?

he used to look massive and intimidating. as he should because he's fucking MEWTWO.

now he's a skinny fuck with a tiny head

I'm pretty sure the Ridley heel thing was a joke, combining the two most derided visual designs in Other M: Zero Suit Samus's heels, and Ridley's terrible design.

Darkrai is a reference to Mythical Creatures. Specifically Genies. It's a mixture of a Genie, and a shadow. His name means Dark King. Darkrai is the King of the Night, Shadows, and (bad)Dreams

Nah, Darkrai is just "dark" + "kurai" (...dark in Japanese), a lot of Japanese names tend to mix an english word with its japanese equivalent, another is Onix's, Iwark (iwa + rock).

But I think Darkrai's pretty cool and represents the concept of nightmares well...

We're still discussing Ridley?

C'mon now guys, this has been going on for long enough..

The dreams of men will never die! If he isn't in I hope the arguments get so loud that Sakurai can't help but notice for DLC/next time.

Anyone wishing the announcer returns with "Super Smash Brothers!!!" at the start of the game? Was there some missing files in Brawl that had that?

How about we discuss two of the funkiest Nintendo characters we'll never see in Smash?

Actually, no joke I'd love to see Jimmy T in Smash Bros. Any Wario Ware character would be nice, really.

The dark doesn't have a double meaning depending on what language you speak? Rai is King in Hindi

Guh.. Pokemon are so stupid looking. At least three magnets or eggs stuck together still had texture and some degree of realistic fantasy to them.

Almost everything past generation two are just weird shapes with other weird featureless shapes plastered onto them. I'm not speaking for the games, but the monster designs are abysmal.

I'm been championing Jimmy since the Dojo days. Some people want fire breathing dragons or more dudes with swords; give me the man who lives to dance.

THE WALKING PSYCHIC EGGS THAT EVOLVED INTO A COCONUT TREE WERE SUCH REALISTIC FANTASY.

You clearly haven't actually played the games after Generation 2.

The majority of Pokemon have always been based on animals and plants, and there have always been a few oddballs not based on animals and plants (Like Machamp, Alakazam, Hypno, Jynx, Mr. Mime, Onix, Ghastly, Weezing, Muk, Geodude, Voltorb, Ditto...). People are just alienated by smaller changes in art style and design and then look for weak justifications to say "they're bad".

Also, Generation 2's Pokemon suck. Did you notice how many mediocre and forgettable non-evolving Pokemon were introduced in Gen 2? Corsola, Quilfish, Misdreavus, Gligar, Delibird, Yanma, Murkrow, Aipom, Unown... I sure did, and it wasn't until Gen 4 that many of them were redeemed. The only ones that were decent out of the box (and weren't legendary) were Skarmory, Heracross, and maybe Miltank. At least Generation 1's non-evolvers were badass. And then there are all the awful "baby" Pokemon, because lord knows we needed a worse Jigglypuff. Look at this thing, does this look like a great Pokemon design to you?

so yeah toxi just destroyed your point, and im speaking as someone who stopped at 2(not by choice)

I'm sorry Toxi but I was with you until you bashed Gen 2's Pokemon. I had hope when you posted Stoutland which was one of my fav Pokemon then you go bashing Gen 2... tsk tsk.

My favorite Pokemon is Crobat.

Playing Dream Team Bros. and imagining if they used these sprites for Smash Bros. That'd be absolutely incredible. :D

The most gorgeous thing I can imagine is a Smash Bros. using high-res hand-drawn 2D, ala Skullgirls. That sort of thing will never, ever happen, but it would be so amazingly fantastic... imagine that sort of handiwork and care put into every frame of every delightfully designed Nintendo character...

Also, Gen III had the best Pokemon designs, a'ight. Gen V was spiffy too.

It'd be beautiful, but all the work would take forever. It took Alphadream four years to Finish the new Mario and Luigi due to the hand-done sprites, so imagine something 10x more complex like Smash..

I don't really have much of a counter-argument to any of this, simply because what you find generic I call good, clean design and vice-versa. To that end, I think the majority of the post-151 Pokémon come from such a wildly different design sensibility that, to me, they'll always seem inconsistent with the "look" of Pokémon established in the first game. I don't really how to put it into words any better than that...I just loved the original 151 and wasn't very impressed with the ones that came afterward, even though I was still into Pokémon at the time (played the hell out of Pokémon Snap) and planned on buying Gold or Silver (I continued watching the anime, didn't stop until sometime during the third season, and kept up with the film series until 4ever). So I don't think its a matter of me not giving the new games a chance...I was still connected via the other branches of the franchise, but I never liked what I saw.
Just going to point something out, don't really want to be a part of the arguement. It seems you've only gone up to some part in Gen 3, not all of post-Gen 1.
My favorite Pokemon is Crobat.
Crobat is awesome as hell. No amount of Zubats will change that.
mudkip mudkip mudkip

Why Torchic has a Pokeball but Mudkip not?
Cause Torchic is better.

You know, I'm way too harsh on Gen 2. It had three amazing Bug types, it can't be all bad.

Useful? Huh? She's high-tier in Brawl. That statement is more appropriate for regular Samus.

Delibird is my favorite pokemon. =|
It's a neat idea, but then they gave it shit stats, a shit signature attack, and no evolution. Whose brilliant idea was that?

It's like Luvdisc, only Delibird actually kinda is a cool design while Luvdisc is Luvdisc and we all hate Luvdisc.

every gen has good and bad pokemon designs

gen 1 just has the most good ones :3
Gen 1 is my second favorite generation, and that's because it wasn't afraid to get weird. You had Pokémon that were magnets stuck to eyeballs, Pokémon based on Whack-a-Mole games, Pokémon that had different evolutionary lines and stats depending on gender, Pokémon based on nightmare-worthy zombifying cordyceps fungi, a Pokémon who was literally just a boxer in a tutu... It was a lot of creativity that I feel petered out somewhat in Generation 2.

Probably the best thing Generation 1 had going for it was that it didn't try to grab or copy things from other generations. That's also why Gen 2 and Gen 4 are my least favorite; they have too many evolutions and pre-evolutions.
