Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

You know, I'm way too harsh on Gen 2. It had three amazing Bug types, it can't be all bad.

IT ALSO HAS DUNSPARCE

Is it possible that we might not getting unlockable characters this time due to two games? I meant Sakurai might figure it out that people might not be interested to unlocking the rosters twice.

Unless the cross functionality could work as a progressive character unlock medium.

I just saw that one video of Sakurai kicking ass using Ganondorf.
My mind has been blown to pieces.

EDIT: Re-reading Iwata Asks: Kid Icarus makes me conviced that Sakurai should write a book about his game design process when he retires.

Also I would like to say that I'm betting on Zero Suit Samus being last returning character to be confirmed.

Its going to be either captain Falcon or Ness only so I can each every day keep wondering if he actually did went ahead remove them.

Which would mean to unlock all the characters, you'd need both versions.

Diabolical if true. Which I doubt, but hey...

EDIT: If it is true, it probably wouldn't be the only means of unlocking a character. Just an expedited option or something. I bet you can unlock a character in one version and transfer it over without having to unlock it in the other version.

I didn't like Zero Suit Samus. Mostly because I hated that tacked on portion in Zero Mission itself.

You know what would be great?

SA-X from Metroid Fusion.

I had been wondering about this as well. Perhaps there could be a way to transfer who you've unlocked in one version to the other or something, but having to unlock the same characters twice sounds like a tall order, and I'm sure Sakurai realizes it.

On a completely unrelated note, I'm wondering if Diddy Kong will have his backpack from DKCR or not. I mean, it is what he wears in his first mainline platformer appearance in ages and he's keeping it in Tropical Freeze, but at the same time it hasn't transitioned to any other spinoffs. We'll see I guess.

Hey we had the same thought!!! ^ *Highest five*

It'd be a great incentive to buy the 3DS if it was somehow easier to unlock characters in that version than on the Wii U, and then make them transferable even if they haven't been double unlocked.

How about some sort of Smash log that combines your player data from both versions? And it does... things.

you prefer a literal clone, like a literal clone of samus then her zero suit?
unless your referring to its final form

The zero suit itself will be a playable character. The fights it will have between newcomer Mario's mustache and newcomer Marth's tiara will be bloodbaths.

I would love this. But I have a feeling that any progress made will just be transferable with identical or similar unlock conditions. Unlock Olimar on 3DS, and you just have to connect to Wii U to automatically unlock him there.

I must be the only person in the world who liked the stealth segment in Zero Mission.

I liked it. I think Metroid: Zero Mission is one of the best games ever made.

I've never even heard of that video

edit" woop there it is

Regardless of Zero Suit Samus reveal or not, I hope she gets her own character slot or sub slot because I've played a lot of Brawl on more casual friends and family's Wii's and I swear they've never figured out how to select her from the start besides a Final Smash until I pointed it out to them.

She just needs a simple transform button. Pressing that up, down, up quickly on the d-pad to remove armor if you forget to hold R, is dumb :(

Just my relevant opinion...

I think several of the transformations should have select options on the character select, instead of going out of the way to press some "secret" buttons to access them.

I.e. starting off as Sheik, Zero Suit Samus, and/or various Pokemon Trainer Pokemon should have a dedicated toggle that changes the image for the character you select. If you picked Sheik, Sheik would be a little closer to the foreground than Zelda as you selected character, same for the others.

That's actually EXACTLY how it is in Brawl except for Zero Suit Samus

It was one of my favourite segments of Zero Mission. When I played it, I actually thought that this is the optimal way to incorporate more noisy / crowded environments in the Metroid formula. It's really a bummer that they haven't revisited the idea -- I think an equally Metroidvania and Stealth Metroid game would then out to be amazing.

honk if you love zero suit samus

I also just noticed like a day ago that you are the user that had that superman with long hair avatar, why randomly bring this up? i was a fan of your avatar in my lurking not account having days, always wanted to ask where the hell it was from

maybe by 8/27 he meant the next day when it'd technically be 8/28 but we'd all really think of it as still being 8/27

yeah that's the ticket
