Why not? It seems pretty obvious that he is. I know Sakurai likes to tease, but I really don't think he would tease this stage with this many times while teasing stage hazard Ridley this many times if Ridley was a stage hazard. It seems beyond cruel and evil for Ridley fans if Ridley really isn't playable.
Guess we'll see though. Don't really care one way or another but it would definitly be a different kind of character to play as.

It kinda does, but it's based on the silver rings you collect in Star Fox 64 to increase your ship's health.
Today's picture is neat in that it's very plain at face value but then you read Sakurai's comments about buffing Samus and realize that Samus' Charge Shot is moving left in the picture while she's still recovering from shooting it... I'm curious to see exactly how fast the thing goes now!
Ridley is one of the characters I want the most, but at this point I've begrudgingly accepted that there's no chance.
I still believe.
If you look carefully, you can see part of Ridley's face in the shadowy part of the hole. Confirmed for stage hazard.

Even if Ridley is a stage hazard, people won't give up, they'll just claim that's the Other M version of Ridley, and there's several other Ridley incarnations that could show up...
To be fair, Other M Ridley and the Ridley everyone else is thinking of are literally different characters.
Also, duck bills are fucking ugly.

So this is our 2nd pic of the day regarding balances and buffs. I'd love 1 of these each week. Sakurai telling us that Samus' charge shot is vastly improved in Speed and Power as Namco written all over it. I mean what was Sakurai thinking in Brawl? That Charge shot could not kill worth beans, it was really sad. Not to mention she barely had any kill moves to begin with. I'm glad Samus is getting some positive and obvious changes.
I wonder if the Charge Shot being fired at Villager is an indication of it's current speed. I didn't think about it much during E3.
Now for some inevitable Ridley talk. 60% of me say's Ridley is a stage hazard, but the other 40% questions why Sakurai is teasing this stage and it's holes like this for so long? I mean if he is going to be a stage hazard then it's going to be of epic proportions. I feel like he is hyping something he normally wouldn't. Oh and he is certainly aware of all the Ridley love and debate. He said he and his team read all of the comments and I'm sure aside from general mods people are gauging responses and reactions from the users who have already bought the system. Sakurai is deliberately trolling and I think he's going to pull a fast one on us.
An enemy from Samus's past can appear at any moment? Hopefully after we play on that stage 20 times playable Ridley does appear.

Samus is much faster and more acrobatic in Other M, so I would bet that's another big reason for the change. I wouldn't be surprised if Samus is much faster overall.

Good to see Sakurai has wisened up about the Charge Shot. That was one of the most baffling balance changes in Brawl (in a sea of baffling balance changes).

Reading stuff like this makes me so happy. The positive changes that they're making to existing characters like this and Bowser makes me think I'll be playing this game for a long time after it releases.
