Great, i'm expecting a simultaneous release then.
I hope they continue major releases paired with a character announcement. Pokemon X/Y - Trainer. DKC:TF - Diddy / Dixie. SM3DW - Wario (yes, I doubt he's in SM3DW, but the whole Mario gang's accounted for and I doubt they'll make Peach's reflect a character in his own right). LoZ:LBW - Zelda.

((((((I think the game has good chances to land in H1 2014. The E3 build was already well advanced. They have the brawl experience + Namco helping them. They got rid of the insane amount of cut scenes. And Wii U needs it sooner than later, they won't likely postpone it for Q4.

Yeah, I believe Sakurai said at first they may not release together, but it doesn't seem likely at all now that the 3DS version is up to speed.

Just a coincidence or a case of mirrored leaf textures, but hey you're right (upper left of Link's head). That's amusing.
I feel it's worth pointing out the vast majority of 3DS screens, especially the ones of characters who previously hadn't shown up in that version are mostly just characters 'standing' there. I wouldn't really use the fact we're seeing more shots as confirmation they're at the same point in development.

Considering the WiiU's current situation i can quite easily see the main home console version coming out a while before the 3DS version simply to stop the 3DS version potentially hamstringing the sales of the main console version.

I'm not worried about a superficial thing as not getting a version day and date, because im getting both. But overall I would be playing the wiiU version the most regardless for obvious reasons.
Great to see Toon Link back, I was admittedly worried with the conductor Link. It looks like they are really loving this ability to promote games for returning characters.
So if Pokemon is next month: Lucario, Mewtwo, Pokemon Trainer and Jigglypuff all have a reveal shot.
Sonic hits next month as well. November has a chance at Diddy, Zelda, Sheik, and/or Ganondorf.
December is Mario, and I think that's when we'll get Yoshi since he's likely to be in that game. Otherwise all that's left is Dr. Mario for Mario reps.
With no release dates after December, it's a toss up what we'll see after I suppose and he could just reveal characters randomly again like Peach. I have a feeling they are working very hard to get the game out after Mario Kart 8 in the spring, right before summer break. At least the Wii U version, the 3DS version I see coming later by just a little bit.

Well I'm not sure about double characters announcement every month since the release date might be Summer or Fall 2014.
If we have double characters reveal until Sept then we would have about 40 characters for starter roster which is farfetched, so I think they will release the news whatever would suit them and the hype.
It's a bit worrying.

Wii U really need this to boost the sales. If you really care about Smash then you should support Wii U version too.

Oh wow another character so soon, that was out of the blue! Toon Link Looks nice! I preferred using him over TP Link. Seemed more fun........now about that new footage. >= /

If they don't release simultaneously, it's probably not because the 3DS version is developing more slowly. It's more likely because the 3DS doesn't need the boost and would take sales away from the Wii U version.

Pretty much this. I'm sure Nintendo realizes that the WiiU needs the boost that SSB can give it. I'm ok with them releasing separately myself, but that's just so I don't spend so much money at once.
Well, one of them is for Wii U and the other one is for 3DS.

That's not how choosing to buy consoles or games work...

Well this proves there is no real pattern and can be just a release schedule just determining things and some characters will be revealed at random.
