Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

Shit with Snake gets too complicated, they just bust out Simon Belmont. Neither of them has had a relevant game on a Nintendo console since the early 90's, same difference.

If not Simon, then Dracula. Since he is pretty much a constant in Castlevania games and he would have a pretty cool moveset. Not happening but it's fun to dream.

Every Castlevania fan knows Simon Belmont anyways. If they're gonna put in a Castlevania character then there's absolutely nothing stopping them from picking Simon. Picking Dracula over Simon would be kind of weird.

So you mean that the way to properly represent him is by leaving him as a clone of Captain Falcon who not only is a race car driver in his game, but that has an entire moveset 100% pulled out of his ass for this one? That's what Ganondorf means to you?
I said to give him three new special moves and some new standard attacks -- I'm not sure where I said he needs to stay a Captain Falcon clone. He just doesn't need a sword.

Smash's first public domain fighter? I'd be up for it!

Of course there was that whole first appearance must be a game thing though.

If we don't get Snake, I want Kojima playable. His final smash would be to knock everyone unconscious and announce he's done with the Metal Gear series.

For reals this time guys!

Oh, and welcome to Smash GAF! It's a ...well, it's a place. This is important to see.

I had an idea about working around that. Ridley could be a Pokemon Trainer clone and float around in the background. He throws Kraid, Pahntoon and Crocomire onto the stage to battle (because they of course can be shrunk).

I've been saying this forever but Ganondorf should get a totally new move set and his old moves should be given to Black Shadow.

100% down for this. He's the series' main antagonist, and he has appearances elsewhere in the Anime as well. I really liked using Ganondorf in Brawl tbh, so I'm indifferent as if they make him more Zelda-oriented. With any crossover game I like to see plenty of villains, just so you can have all those dream matches you thought about when you were a kid.

Smash could do with some new bad dudes, as well as more females as well (in b4 someone says Medusa, heh)

Sonic returning for Smash 4 is easily the best thing to come out of yesterday's Direct for me. Having Mega Man, Sonic, and Mario in this game together is like my ultimate childhood video game dream realized, and I'm sure many here share that sentiment.

My hype for this game is so completely fucking over the moon, it's ridiculous. Mega Man vs. Sonic matches are gonna be SO EPIC.

Why do people insist so much on giving Ganon's moveset to Black Shadow.

Why can't they just give him a a new moveset and if they are going to add Black Shadow also have him have a different moveset.

Event Match 51. Mario, Sonic and Mega Man. Very Hard. Final Destination. Three stock.

I guess they want to 'preserve' the old Ganondorf for people that care. I think if they were going to change Dorf though, they wouldn't really bother with a replacement.

F-Zero's opportunity for a second character has long passed. The series was at its height pre-Brawl with AX/GX, an anime series, and those terrible GBA games. If none of that deemed F-Zero worthy of another character then I don't see how a decade of inactivity will change anything. Besides, a racing series where you rarely ever see the actual racers is represented just fine with one character.

Yeah I don't think if they change Gandondorf's moveset they would replace him with some other character.

That said with Bowser's new changes I am sure at least almost every character will be revamped slightly, specially the "clones"

The ideal Black Shadow moveset would be him being the lowest tier character (so give him Ganondorf's Brawl moveset then), but he has the inexplicable ability to still beat you with a rubberband mechanic.

As a big F-Zero fan I agree, I highly doubt there would ever be a second F-Zero rep.

Only likely one is Goroh, but I don't think Sakurai would add him cause aside from dual blades he'd be mostly based as another swordman.

Seeing as how Toon Link made the cut this time, I'd like to have every character from Brawl's roster return. Would love to see Snake again, preferably the David Hayter version.

Don't really care for the lost Melee characters aside from Mewtwo.

also that "incorporating ganondorf's moveset into black shadow" thing is probably the worst idea ever. Talk about wasted potential for a new, fun moveset.

Well a lot of purists would be pissed of the 'heavy Captain Falcon' moveset just disappeared.

I get that, but is it really worth it just to grab a random new character and stick him with an old moveset? Just look at the people clamoring for Toon Link to get a more TWW-inspired moveset, I doubt they're that concerned about retaining everything about the original Young Link moveset.

I don't think they should completely revamp Ganondorf's moveset, but maybe do something more akin to what they're doing with Bowser.

Where does Sakurai say character's moves can still be changed before the game releases? I'm very interested to know this.

I believe it was in one of the daily Miiverse screenshots? The exact one escapes my memory, but I think it was around Peach's reveal?

Yes.

"Pic of the day. Peach joins the battle! We've added 10 pictures of her on the website, but keep in mind that the game is still in development. Her moves may be refreshed by the time the games are released."

I though Metal Gear 2 was completely different on the NES to the MGX. Like Kojima had no involvement in the NES one and made his own sequel to show how it should be done.

An Advance Wars character in a tank could have interesting moveset potential.
Sakurai should do something like that instead of just copy/pasting Snake's moveset over.

Are we sure refreshed necessarily means changed?

The fact he mentioned that after mentioning there are 10 pictures of her up leads one to assume he assumes people will look at the pictures, see moves represented visually and that they shouldn't be surprised when the game is released if a move represented in a previously released picture is missing or altered. Wondering what you think "refreshed" would refer to otherwise? Unless you want to take it out of the context of the rest of the post I'm interested what conclusion you came to?

I thought he could have been referring to visual changes to attacks, like adding certain special effects which would make them look more unique. I'm just trying to keep my expectations low.

I wanna be really surprised...

...with a fighter who's a manifestation of a Hanafuda deck with a moveset reflecting the 12 suits/flowers.
