You guys better watch your ass when you comment about women's appearances on here. I just don't do it because I know i'm a frumpy bag of shit and what place is it of mine, you know..

So this is just some chick on YouTube claiming that she was told by nondescript would-be employers that she's too large to be a model?

Ya'll are getting played.

She came 3rd on Sweden's version of next top model. You don't have to be well known be a model. Look at how many faces walk the catwalk we see strutting down the runway that still get paid.

Anyone who believes this girl is "too big" has absurd standards. She's rail thin, almost unhealthily so, and you could just about hit a ping pong ball between her thigh gap. If she really lost jobs because of her size, that's crazy.

This is a venomous and destructive culture, but yeah, a lot of it is because fashion designers are mostly gay men. They have no appreciation for a woman's curves.

I reject this part of mainstream culture utterly.
As a gay man, I take exception to that. Women are beautiful. You don't need to have the urge to bed someone to appreciate their looks. Those fashion designers just have awful taste and a tragically blunted sense of human aesthetics.

So we still have no idea who rejected her, right?

And these gay men comments are funny, yall must have been asleep in the 90s and early 00s. Google Tom ford Sophie Dahl. It's only been a recent thing that the very narrow slender look has taken over; and that's imo more of a "unnatural eternally young elves" thing than a "gay men hate curves" thing. Lots of women fashion designers are out there too.

High fashion alienates me.

It sucks that she can't get in due to standards that don't make sense to me, though I think that she'll definitely be a model at the end of the day somewhere.

It's not that she's too big. It's that her proportions are 'unusual' to what agencies expect from a model to walk runways or model clothes. There's not denying that booty. The 'industry' looks for models to fit in the standard size clothing they produce for the runway.

I'm not defending the model industry, it's toxic nonetheless, but I do think that her outcry is a bit out of context. She's not considered too 'big' meaning fat, it's proportions. That said, she is absolutely stunning and I'm sure she can get modelling gigs. Just not within the branch that looks for models fitting a specific mold, where they are basically clothes hangers with an interesting face and walk, nothing more or less.

.....I thought this was about the socialist Sweden model of government could never work in a country like the US.

so watching the youtube vid... she doesn't say who or what... so all the posters taking about couture and such; that's maybe a dozen companies total. she's also not too big for the european runway, rosie huntington-whiteley does victoria secret and euro fashion. same for martha hunt. and a number of others.

Maybe girls should be encouged to I don't know maybe become scientists or doctors.
Agreed. So we're gonna talk about how girls should be encouraged away from a superficial culture that only values them for their bodies, and encourage them to be valued for their intellect and --

She's part of the problem herself that she and generations of models before her created themselves. The race to the bottom. Now they can't handle it and cry unfairness. Reeks of double standards. Don't have any sympathy for them.
...Oh.
