Take fucking notes Sony and ms, make a fucking healthy supply of consoles and you'll sell them.
imagine being asked to make a massive dinner for a family of twenty and only having enough food to cook for 5

thats what making anything was like during the pandemic....from electronics, to car parts, to simple supplies.

why do yall act like we didnt have to deal with shortages of everything for two years straight?

Nobody doubted the initial sales, especially with an older wafers, I guess.

Dynamics should be fun, but I doubt that Nin will not reach yet another 100m+ seller. Switch 2 is one of the safest bets in the industry.

Yeah, it won't. The switch was boosted by the pandemic. I'm thinking the ceiling is about 120/130 million. Which is a little more than I think the PS5 will sell.
The pandemic added 8 million at best, not 30. The Bell's curve of Switch sales showed that it would've peak in 2020 regardless, so maybe not 28 million as it did but 23 million was the floor of that year, and the next year too

Only had it for a day but I feel like it needed a 3D Mario or Zelda.
So far Fast Fusion is the most impressive game for me, looks extremely good and runs like a dream 👌

The pandemic really screwed the whole video game industry. The PS5 launch for sure (even if it was great, considering) but also all game development really struggled for years.

Still is, perhaps.

I should try this but I can't stop playing mkw

Edit: alright gonna download it
I haven't played Mario Kart World yet, so can't compare the two. (still waiting on the MKW preorder to arrive… and just got the Switch 2 preorder yesterday. Sigh)
But Fast Fusion is fantastic a F-Zero/Wipeout alternative. They have some new mechanics I really like. And it's faaaaast!!

The price of the system was never the issue. The issue is their games are way too expensive.
Which is not. Not sure why you people keep saying that...

Mario kart can be bough for 50 euro/dollar. Or 70 euro/dollar physical.
All other games are lower in price and priced the same as on other platforms.
But to give you an example; cyberpunk is 70 euro on switch 2 and other platforms, while it's 90 euros on steam.
This is by far the only game that is more expensive on steam.

Sure it gets a lot of sale drops, but that is also the case with eshop games. Example:

By the time the bundle of Mario kart world is gone, the physical price of games will be dropped as well.
Almost any switch first party physical dropped within the first year anyway.

Game Prices was never an issue to begin with.
Look at how much 3th party games like AC Shadows, Diablo, COD cost or even GTA 6 is going to cost
Or what about the many PS5 first party titles that cost 80/90 euro (which was already a thing from 2020 and on with sony)

Just stop mis spreading this info. And don't cherry pick

Truly impressive. And yet I see it in stock all over here.
Seems they went in to this extremely well prepared.

It will be very interesting to see if they can ride this wave or if it'll hit a wall after the initial hype.

This explosion of sales kind of reminds me of TotK that sold 10M in 3 days, and then slowed down quite dramatically relative to BotW.

so we got shortages from covid, but somehow switch 1 sales got boosted by covid? which is it GAF?

I really can't get it.
Why are people rushing to get this? Am I missing something?
I mean, I can only speak for myself, but I rushed to get one because:

- I bought Mario Kart 8 in May 2014 and I have been waiting 11 years for a new one, so that in itself was a system seller to me

- I've had a Switch 1 since 2017 and 8 years is just too long in my opinion for a system to go without a successor, I've been hungry for Switch 2 for years

- I love the Switch, but it was really showing its age technically; so the same form factor with upgraded graphics is exactly what I wanted

- Being able to take games like Cyberpunk 2077 with me when I travel for work is awesome

- It's been 11 years since the last new Donkey Kong, so I had to have one in time for DK Bananza

Every launch record possible is going to be destroyed by this console and I doubt anything will be able to beat it in the future.

The switch is something else.

The switch is going to be the bestselling console of all time. Yes Switch 2 won't do as well. No PlayStation ever did as well as ps2 either.
Yes but the PS2 is an oddity, it sold like 105 million by the launch of the PS3 and since it had a very slow start, 50 million people kept buying the PS2 alongside the PS3 (and thanks to the Wii ports) until 2013. Like the Game Boy would've sell less if it had a replacement by 96

Initial sales won't mean much, I guarantee you the Switch 2 is going to end up selling maybe half of the Switch 1.

The COVID boost is no moar.
Even if it sold half, that's how many units the PS5 has sold in its lifetime, which are great numbers.

There's zero doubt the Switch 2 already is and will continue to be a giant success for Nintendo.
