Switch 2 - What Are You Getting at Launch?

Shitty launch compared to what exactly?

The only game I bought during the ps5 launch was demon souls (spiderman wasnt exactly my thing) and I skipped the xbox's launch altogether since it had absolutely nothing of value with halo infinite getting delayed by a full year.

I'm getting mario kart, the zelda upgrades and the gamecube NSO update. And within the window I plan on getting DK, metroid and pokemon legends ZA. If halo/gears/doom/oblivion make their way to the S2, I'll be getting them too.

TOTK upgraded, MK in bundle, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Super Mario RPG, Splatoon 3, Pro Controller and DK later if reviews are good

And the awesome new Switch2 pro controller as well. Plus I will get an extra dock to play the Switch on my JVC 4K projector.

To me Switch 2 will be a way to play many Switch games I didn't play in the last 3-4 years since I stopped using it completely.

Getting the MKWT bundle and pre-ordered DK Bananza (loved it)
Already got:
Zelda ToTK
Bayonetta 3 (hoping it will hold at 60fps even without a patch)

Games I got cause had a discount
Unicorn Overlord
SMTV

I'm a bit on the fence since we haven't heard about third party patches to unlock framerate/resolution, but I might buy more

The first new Mario Kart in 11 years is enough to make it a good launch in my book. I'm one of those who bought MK8 in May 2014.

Throw in FAST Fusion, Cyberpunk, Kunitsu-gami, and Donkey Kong less than a month and a half later, and I'm keen as hell.

Mario Kart World
Donkey Kong Bananza

And I will just try and see how my Switch 1 games profit or not profit from Switch 2.

I was gonna make a thread like this, but I was worried that hype for the Switch 2 wasn't there, or people were getting tired of talking about it. Regardless of some of the controversy and issues surrounding the release of the system, I'm still hyped. New hardware is still kinda like Christmas to me.

I've already got numerous preorders setup. At Best Buy on launch night, I'm picking up all this stuff:

UXIz9yy.jpeg

I also have some preorders at Gamestop for Tears of the Kingdom, Rune Factory, Bravely Default, and Hitman. I know, I know...game key cards for some of them, but I think I've accepted that having a game key card is still better than pure digital.

MK9
Hogwarts
and looking to get either cyberpunk or FF7 which i haven't heard much about but it was listed as a day 1 title but I haven't seen much about the switch version so I'm on the fence.
Than and some GameCube and Switch 1 remasters

Getting the MK bundle
Preordered DK for 50€
I'll finish some Switch 1 games possibly upgraded.
But I hve a bad feeling about this console so I'm not going all in. I won't pay 80€ for games so the thing may go back into the box and into my personal museum as a collectors item.

Got the MKW bundle, pro 2 controller, case/screen protector, and DK Bananza peordered fully paid. Mario Kart should be great but I also want to see how several Switch 1 games run on it.

My hopes:
I haven't played Pokemon Violet DLC yet so the patch Nintendo announced should make that a better experience especially framerate.
-I also want to see how much it improves performance for Hyrule Warriors AoC. I'm pretty sure the framerate is unlocked even though it runs like crap?
-Hopefully they also patch Splatoon 3 because the framerate switching to 30 for the city is revolting.
-A resolution boost for XC3 would be fantastic as blurriness is basically the one flaw it has.
-I feel a whole "Switch 2 version" is warranted for Pikmin 4, add mouse controls and such.

Should be interesting to see what is done but these are the ones I really hope go well/happen at all.

After that, obviously I want Metroid Prime 4, it's the whole reason I got a Switch in the first place and now we're here. To be fair it has been a blast but… yeah.

I've got the bundle so the main course is Mario Kart World. I'm also looking forward to revisiting F-Zero GX and maybe doing a Wind Waker playthrough on Gamecube.

The Breath and Tears upgrades will be free with my NSO package. I put Tears down mid-way through and might pick up where I left off (if I can figure out where I am in the game).

I'm also looking forward to the free upgrades (especially Link's Awakening, I'd bought that but the frame rate kept bothering me and hopefully that's addressed). Also curious to check out if certain Switch 1 games might perform better without patches -- I do have a backlog to get through! (Bayo 3?)

When things slow down, I already purchased Hogwarts on the Switch 1 sale since it was so cheap. I never played the game and will do the $10 upgrade. I'm also considering Street Fighter 6. I played a lot of SF4 but not 5 or 6. There's apparently a $40 version without the DLC and if so I'd likely try that first. Cyberpunk is on my radar but there's plenty to keep me busy for now.

Pending reviews, Maybe Fast Fusion. I like the developer and the game is cheap, but the lack of info is concerning.

PS5 had Demon's Souls and Spiderman, plus a bunch of new 3rd party titles dropping with it. One would have hoped Nintendo, who are more dependent than their own games, would have more than just Mario Kart.

MK Bundle.

I will sell the DC for the Game and the boxed console will be stored savely on my shelf i wont touch it for a very long time I guess.

I thought Donkey Kong was a launch game, and I don't know how I missed that. I was hoping my wife would give it to me "from the kids" for my birthday the next week.

DK comes out a week before my bday so the gaming gods were watching one of us. I gifted an extra NS2 preorder as a bday gift so I hope they hook me up with this one lol.

But yeah the launch itself is pretty much Mario Kart and old games.

I had stupidly thought Metroid and DK were launch games.

Yeah this was my first take but realized my presumption by next day. Kinda a let down not because I need Metroid in my veins asap but because I wonder how much the spread will impact what other titles hit this year. I had much higher aspirations before realizing all these games were not day one.

I would consider cancelling my pre-order but the console will probably only get more expensive.

Yes this is why we all decided to buy it now anyway, you have arrived haha

Switch 2
Mario Kart World
Switch 2 Pro Controller
256GB SD Express
Joy-Con 2 Wheel
1-year NSO + Expansion Pass subscription

Then I'll be getting DK Bananza the month after.

Got the MK bundle, next Switch 2 exclusive game is probably DK. I'll finally finish Echoes of Wisdom as well.

Mario Mart Bundle and Pro Controller

Already have the Expansion Pak so I'll play Wind Waker and BotW.

I wlll buy Raidou Remastered when it launches.

MKW bundle
Pro controller 2
Classics GCN controller
Tomtoc case
Amfilm screen protector

Ended up also getting an SD Express even though I dislike the current price, there are more games with NSW2 enhancements than I expected and availability is questionable over the next year.

I got the MK Bundle, and I'll pre-order Donkey Kong.

That's probably it honestly. I don't see myself getting Welcome Tour ever.

Just the Mario Kart bundle and a pro controller. I'll look at upgrading hogwarts and Fantasy life. I'm mainly waiting for MP4 I'll use my voucher on it and upgrade (probably losing money somehow doing that lol)

I'm sure smaller games will pop up that 'll be interested in. I'll get Hyrule Warriors later in the year.

I would get one at launch but everywhere seems to be sold out.
Gamestop and Bestbuy have both confirmed they will have extra units available for those that show up on launch night 12AM.

If your Gamestop is inside of a mall, show up extra early before they open (an hour or 2 is the safest bet).
Maybe call ahead of time to confirm if that store does indeed plan to have extras.

It's ZELDA TIME BABY
  • Breath of the Wild
  • Tears of the Kingdom
  • The Wind Waker
  • Maybe Yakuza 0 as I've been wanting to replay it.
I've already played through BOTW and got through 4/5 "dungeons" in TOTK but I'm gonna start a new save in BOTW alongside The Wind Waker and then go into a new TOTK save once I'm done with the other two.

I'm also contemplating whether or not to keep my preorder for the Pro Controller. I got it for $70 so I feel like I should keep it but I already have a OG pro controller, PowerA GameCube controller, and one of the lower tier 8bitdo controllers.

I cancelled my order for a 256Gb card though as I did the math when the storage numbers came out and I'd barely be breaking 100GB even when downloading a couple OG switch games that I never finished. I'll get one down the line though.

I can't believe I bought Split Fiction on PS5 and then a second DualSense to play it, mid-March rather than waiting for the April 2 direct and see it would release on Switch 2

Mario Kart Bundle and Pro Controller.

Donkey Kong and Metroid as they come out later in the year. Pretty sure that sums up my 2025 with the Switch 2. Maybe i get the Tears of the Kingdom update.

As for my Launch haul, I'm just getting the essentials

Carrying case
Screen protectors
MKW
SF6
and
Cyberpunk 2077

I might pick up a charging grip and Hogwarts Legacy later down the road.

From Best Buy: Switch 2 and Pro Controller Bundle.

I'll pick up Bravely Default digitally when the Switch 2 arrives on the 5th and I'll probably order a screen protector from Amazon between now and the 5th

Was able to lock in at Best Balls. So assuming no bullshit, I'll get MKW bundle and pro controller. DK when it releases.

I imagine this has to do with the difference in timing. PS5 was a holiday launch, so Sony had Mile Morales, Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Demon's Soul remake on day 1, but then nothing in December or January.

Whereas Nintendo will have just Mario Kart World in June, but then release DK in July have roughly one game per month for then rest of 2025.

Not a system apparently, because Nintendo didn't make enough for US launch to be able to satisfy the preorder requests ON THEIR OWN SITE!

Im doubtful i'll get the email to get one by launch, despite the fact i "registered interest" within a day of their site going live.

Like many others, 'nothing apparently', as I haven't found one available. Just as well maybe, since the only 2025 game I cared about is Metroid Prime 4, and it's a launch game. Those launch Nintendo products have easy hardware exploits though, so missing out on that window is a tad disappointing.

I'm super hyped for Yakuza 0 remake, Switch 2 version of Suikoden 2, and Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD remaster.

I'll also get Kart of course, and DK depending no how it reviews. Prime 4 same, but most likely a day 1. I'm ready for a fucking patch for any Xenoblade or Fire Emblem game or any new Xenoblade or Fire Emblem game. XCXDE Switch 2 patch would be ideal. Some other games I will buy patches for like Kirby.

I also have not gotten my preorder in. They fucked me starting it at midnight and I didn't know that. I am on the list though and got an email the other day saying to keep waiting and keep the faith. The email was from Nintendo. So I will keep waiting.
