Nah. We all already have one. And we got dibs on supply during CovidLol Sucks for the amerifats.
For sure. Once the holidays are over I would imagine.I bet they will increase switch 2 price too somewhere in the next 9 months.
If tariffs don't change, yeah count on it. Same for PS5. Xbox has already thrown their hands up and gone up significantly, but no one's buying them anyway.I bet they will increase switch 2 price too somewhere in the next 9 months.
Same thing happened when Microsoft and Sony went with Nvidia. They couldn't drop it very far because Nvidia doesn't want to drop the price. It does boggle the mind how hardware hasn't really gone down in price. Is it really just pure greed and share holders? Hey if it prevents layoffs for Nintendo great. But I do find it hard to beleive things don't get cheaper especially at the volume being manufactured.
Depending how many Tariffs are also being applied to the hardware by that orange jackass.
They'll increase the price of the Switch 2 after the holidaysWouldn't be surprised if they are in loss territory with switch 2 and doing everything to not have to raise its price.

My guess the online sub goes up in price next before the switch 2.They'll increase the price of the Switch 2 after the holidays
I was thinking that exact same thing earlier today. Going back to the Wii they were basically the 'budget' option to the Xbox/ Playstation 'HD twins', and were perfectly positioned to be the '2nd console' that people bought for its exclusives. At this stage they've priced themselves par with those other systems, so I really do wonder what that means for its sales a year from now.My guess the online sub goes up in price next before the switch 2.
It's crazy Nintendo use to be looked as the cheaper option in terms of hardware, but they could end up being the most expensive in the console market right now.
Switch 2 accessories also getting price increase.
Wouldn't be surprised if they are in loss territory with switch 2 and doing everything to not have to raise its price.
Vietnam production was there way out of avoiding tariffs on china, but trump played a blinder and now Vietnam have 20% tariffs.

Oh, they are but are also increasing the price.But..... I thought Chyna will pay for it.
I think that subscriptions and the console itself will increase in price after March 2026 at the earliest, but they might do it at the beginning of next year.My guess the online sub goes up in price next before the switch 2.

Some parents are gonna have a heart attack when they see the price of replacing switch 2 controllers for their children.
U$100 for joycons
U$ 129 for a fucking stand....
Nintendo got full retardad
Pure insanity. This shit was starting before the tariff bullshit (TOTK at $70). Nintendo's greed plus tariffs means I ain't touching the Switch 2 unless it comes down to sane levels.
This...seems likely. Between now and Christmas, they're going to want you to pay forward.Wow this is some fascinating uncharted territory. Legit question here, so who among us is angry because they wanted a Switch relatively soon and haven't dove in yet? Or maybe you wanted to buy one for a loved one. Some of you are so pissed with the hardware maybe you wanted one for your nemesis?
Tariffs don't equate to price increases on the consumer as an absolute outcome. Depending on the market some companies can and sometimes will eat the cost one way or another. There is a threshold where too much is too much, so I gotta wonder what Nintendo is really thinking behind the scenes.
Sure it's a great excuse for Nintendo to say "market conditions/tarriffs" but I don't believe them. These machines are so old now and have never seen a price drop. I've got to imagine their profit margins are sizable and they didn't want to cut into that.
And/Or they must be viewing their products old and new as an even bigger premium. Maybe they think you are paying to get access to BotW, Smash Ultimate, the classic games, etc.
Or do they simply want brand new consumers to just compare the Switch 1 and Switch 2 prices and lay down the extra $50 on a whim?
Really interested in seeing if this works for them or if it bites them in the apples.

In México the Nintendo Switch 2 was 690 $
Now is at 500$

It dropped 27 percent from its original price in less than a month.
Out of the scenarios you're giving, I definitely think there is an element of 'wait, the Switch OLED is $50 less than Switch 2? I'll just pony up the extra $50' strategy here. Which, on one hand is kind of weird because it almost suggests they don't believe Switch 2 will sell on its own merit unless they make it look like a great value by bumping up the price of the OG Switch. But Switch 2 is obviously selling well ( the fastest selling launch ever etc etc), so such tactics at least for now doesn't seem warranted. I just question why they'd risk the PR hit right now when they would obviously want all positive buzz and momentum launching a new flagship device.Wow this is some fascinating uncharted territory. They are not hiring and firing contractors every dev cycle, not pushing developers into bankruptcy to fund their subscription service, and not turning all their beloved IP into GaaS products.
I was against their pricing initially but I now see it the same way as paying more for organic food.
Pushing the switch 1 price up is likely also down to solid availability of switch 2 stock and wanting to nudge sales towards that, their profits come from game sales primarily so everyone who buys a switch 2 has a higher long term "value" now that a lot of switch 1 stuff is discounted.
You do realize that Mario Kart World is only 60 bucks in Japan right? Everything switch 2 related in japan is considerably cheaper (like switch 1 levels). They are price gouging (or over compensating for trariffs), you are not paying extra for something special. You are paying more than a ps5 game for last gen graphics. They are doing something just as bad as all the other shit you mention. Especially in countries without tariffs, they are still fucking over consumers (like Canada paying 100 bucks which is 10 dollars more than usual for an 70 US dollar game). Organic food FFS. The goddamn mental gymnastics trying to excuse Nintendo's switch 2 pricing is fucking retarded.

We have the money. We pay for what we want.
if this is because of tariffs like a lot of people are blaming, then why did they also increase prices in Canada?
Switch 2 accessories also getting price increase.

Or, you could resell it for more.Does this mean the trade in value for me oled switch will increase?
I like the sound of that.Or, you could resell it for more.
I was waiting for an OLED version with better battery life but these prices are giving me second thoughts.Wow this is some fascinating uncharted territory. they're not acting entitled. It's the consumers (not customers) who act like giving their money to a company is a rite of passage. At one point in time, customers were the ones with power. It is our money they're trying to get. Now companies act entitled to our money and stupid customers are now blind consumers and give it anyway.
The Xbox Live charge made sense at the time. They had free online features on the PS3 but it was rudimentary. On Xbox 360 you had cross-game parties, free demos, and other features that are now expected but a free infrastucture couldn't support, since it's the sender who pays for all that bandwidth.I'm angry because people are not voting with their wallet, just like I was when people payed for Xbox live (and then every other console maker did that)
Yeah, I think I'm just done with Nintendo at this point. For me, the product is simply not worth the asking price.I was waiting for an OLED version with better battery life but these prices are giving me second thoughts.
We all make bad choices.Yeah, I think I'm just done with Nintendo at this point. For me, the product is simply not worth the asking price.
