Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together |OT|: Fat Bottomed Girls

Man, after about fifty hours in the game, I can say for sure that the Swordmaster class is so bad. As an example, Hobyrim turned out to be a better archer than Arycelle and it's not even his initial class...

But he has the awesome Preempt skill.
By combining Preempt with the Knockback skill he can passively attack without being touched which makes him one of the most awesome melee units in the game.

urgh, my mages must be crap, they're having a hard time doing anything worthwhile too.

I'm not partial to the magic classes in this game, but they can deal a good 40-50 damage to beasts and dragons.

Are you specializing? You should pick one type of magic and buff it with skills. Dark magic is my personal favorite.

i've two mages that have different specialisations, should i perhaps make them both use the same school of magic?

No, that wouldn't make a difference. If you have a mage using, say, dark magic, then just be sure to buff that skill with the augment dark and magic skills. If you have the patience, crafting can also be helpful.

Finished the game on the Lawful route. Can't say that I'm proud of the Chariot Tarot usage, but oh well...

Now I'm looking forward the post-end game content. Is there something that should I check right away?

So, I'm trying to recruit Diego, but it seems that I got a problem...

- At the beginning of Chapter 4 (Lawful), I met him on Port Omish and won the battle keeping him alive
- Before heading to Banisha castle, I checked the talk reports and trigged the scene where he reveals his true name. (So far I got two scenes/events with Diego)
- Went to Banisha and saved Catiua, then head back to Phidoch Castle...

Now I trigger a battle in Omish (versus Leon), but Diego is nowhere to be seen. Is supposed to be that way? AFAIK, I should save him again, and later I have to go the Pirate's Graveyard and battle in certain terrain with him, and he will join me there. Or should I fight with Leon in Omish and head later to Pirate's Graveyard?

I'm not familiar with a fight against a "Leon", and I wondering if I'm missing a battle in my Warren Report. I do remember that after
saving Mreuva
, there are 2 tips to read (i think you have to read one, exit the Report, reopen, and read the second. I remember the last one to read is called "The Dread Pirate"), and then you see 2 small scenes: one at Omish and one and Kadriga Fortress. After that
save Catiua
and then you can
save Azelstan
at Omish again. Then you go through the Graveyard, Diego will join automatically a few battles in.

Also MAKE SURE YOU BRING HIM ONTO THE MAP ON HOLY GROUND to get to the Pirates Treasure. I had to redo the Graveyard because I didn't do this...

But now I'm curious about this Leon battle...

EDIT: The second battle with Diego in Omish will have Diego on the map to save. It's actually kind of annoying because he start out quite a bit away from you, and you have to maneuver most of you guys through a narrow path to get to him. (as usual, have Canopus sling healing items to keep Diego alive. There is no boss target, it's a "Vanquish the enemy!" objective.

Ok. Seems like before heading to save Catiua I didn't activate the second scene after his initial reveal (The one with the flowers?). I thought that scene was after saving Catiua.

Also, is Mreuva neccesary to recruit Diego?

(Oh, and I made a search and the Leon battle is part of the Shrine Battles.)

He's not recruitable... all I meant is you can't see the 2 quest scenes until after that part of the story in chapter 4. You can do the first battle right away in chapter 4, but you can't further the quest until after the Hagia Banawhatever place.

Yeah it's the scene with the flowers on the dock that I think you missed.

Oh, okay. And yes, now the scene with the flowers appeared on Qadriga when I used a previous save after his reveal. Now I gotta finish the Barnicia Castle event again to trigger the next battle where I have to save Diego, right?

Yeah if you saw the scenes in Omish and Qadriga, then you go back to Omish after Barnicia

So I'm stuck. I can go level and probably power through the fight, but I hate doing that.

It's the boss fight at the end of Chapter 2: Chaos route.

I don't do enough damage to keep up with the amount the boss is doing to me. The boss also heals which negates the small amount of damage I can do. If I roll as a knight, I can live indefinitely, but I can't do any damage.

Do I really need to go grind out a few more levels?

I haven't played the Chaos route, but that's likely the case. If you can't hit him and live up the turns, either you need a stronger overall lineup or someone who can smash him at his weakness.

Blech. I'm one level ahead of him, and every battle until this hasn't been so hard. :(

Sigh.

Good thing this game is awesome and I don't mind grinding!

I really wanna get back into Tactics Ogre, but I need help on dealing with two aspects:

1)whats the best way to buy and outfit your team seeing as you cant compare your stats?

2)whats the best way to change jobs and then level them up.

I remember getting as far as Chapter 3 or so and finally switching jobs to a Ninja and hitting pretty light on enemies.

That's because the leveling system is job-based rather than character-based. In order to level up that class, you need to grind only using that character/class, since the game levels up the enemies based on the overall level of the party you choose to fight each battle. (That's why even a Dragon lvl 1 can get beaten easily by another character with higher level.)

About the items, you might need to check up some FAQ or just keeping notes about the stats of the characters.

I'm close to one of the final dungeons (as of nearly a year ago), but I can't bring myself to go back because it sounds so dreadful (and I'd have to repurchase on the Vita). I'd love to finish this

Absolutely! The story and the different characters alone justify playing it again. For instance the law and chaos routes are completely different in chapter 2&3.

It's actually easy to see which choices you made by checking the W.O.R.L.D in the Warren's reports.

Of course. There's quite a bit that changes depending on your choices.

Yeah, the story sure takes some spins, and you can recruit new characters that weren't available in other chapters (while keeping all your other characters, of course). As a reference, go back to the final anchor of first chapter in the WORLD system and...

If you went first to the Law route, choose the second option when Leonar asks you to push the massacre or viceversa. Then you will start a new path in the WORLD route.

(I'm planning to return to this game once I finish the main quest of Fire Emblem 12...)

Hey everyone!

So I've been playing Tactics Ogre and this is my first Strategy RPG ever! I'm greatly enjoying it but I do need some advice on some things that I don't understand.
If anyone could give me a little help it would be great

- What do I gain from changing a characters Class? Besides the obvious gain of simply turning it into a different class I don't really see the point, since I've been developing that character for the specific class it is by default. This really is a major point that is confusing to me... should I be using the class changer on soldiers that I hire just for this purpose? ( e.g. buying a warrior just to turn him into a knight and develop him as so )
- Do I get less XP for not killing everyone in a battle? e.g. do I get less XP if I kill the main target right away instead of killing everyone around him first?
- I'm about 11 hours into the game, and so far it is very linear, I usually can only choose one path in the world map - Will it be more open as the game goes on?
- For now I can only craft medicine items, when or how will I be able to craft armor and weapons?

I think I'm missing one or two questions at the moment, I really need to write them down while I play to ask later :p
Anyway, if anyone can help me with this, I would be eternally grateful :)

Some classes simply have better stats than others at similar levels. However, you obviously have to train them from level 1 back to the level your previous class may have been at. Also different classes obviously have different skills/abilities that can be used.

You have to find the crafting books which will come.

Some classes can use skills from other classes, which makes them very powerful.
Also the characters who level up within a class will gain permanent bonus stats.

I'm about to hit Chapter 4 on the Lawful path - are there any uniques that will bail out on me for story related reasons?

I ask because I'm kind of uh, executing some of my generics to pass on their skills via scavenging :V

Is there a full fledged wiki or fan site out there?

I started to look over the various optional stuff in chapter 4 (O_O) and I'm getting a headache from reading through the raw text faq on it - there's a loooooooot of raw text to digest.

edit: And a quick general question - once I beat the game, can I then jump back at any point to replay with the same party? How does that work exactly? I don't really want to faq my way through C4 to do all the optional missable side stuff, but if its a royal pain in the ass to do it via postgame later, I'll just do it now.

So I've been ploughing through this recently and I've hit a similar point as the previous poster in that I've hit Chapter 4 for the first time using a walkthrough but all the optional stuff seems a bit fragmented in its descriptions.

Should I just skip through all the optional stuff at this point in time and just carry on with the main storyline or would it be recommendable to do as much as possible now.

Some of the optional stuff in chapter 4 can get quite difficult if you try to tackle it the first time through the game. None of it is truly missable because once you beat the game, you can jump back to several different points in the game and do sidequests (you keep basically everything).

If you're crazy like me and try to get every title/scene/battle and variations of scenes, you'll find yourself redoing parts of chapter 4 several times.

Finally picked this back up after a LONG hiatus. For some reason I thought the Hanging Gardens were going to be impossible but it turns out I just beasted right through them.

Anyway, I forgot how addictive this game was and I'm going through the World Tarot to get the other endings. Does anyone have a complete map of all the different options and paths? I looked for a picture of it but couldn't find it. I did find a guide on gamefaqs, but I really just want a quick overview.

Just came back to this game.

So... After recruiting Diego,
am I supposed to get somewhere in particular in the Pirate's Graveyard for another Diego event or something? Or should I just bail out with Diego and keep doing other quests?

You can 'finish' the quest by getting to the treasure. Bring Azelstan on the map "On Holy Ground".

Depending on what ending you got, you may not be able to complete Coda. You want to have
The princess ending and Vyce still alive.
.

There's a lot of things you can do in world. I did a much as to get every scene and battle variation the shows up in the warren report.

The princess ending is basically rescuing Catiua from the Dark Knights and making her assuming the throne, right? I got Vyce alive, too. (For reference, I can jump into this part since I beat the game for the first time) http://i.imgur.com/ZVVvS9x.png

EDIT: Wowzah, just read the requirements for completing the CODA episodes. I should maybe go into the different routes recruiting other characters and watching other events

Yeah Coda part 2 in particular is very annoying. Coda 3 and 4 are much better.

You can't really screw anything up though, jumping around with World Tarot. However, if you're like me and try to get everything you can, you'll find yourself replaying levels quite a bit and here's why. I'll state it generically.

Lets say in Chapter A, there are two choices (call these choices 1 and 2). Lets say this choice affect the battle of Chapter Z. Lets say the first time through, you picked Choice 1. You play chapters ABCDEFGHI.....all the way to Z .

Now you want to see the alternative Chapter Z by picking Choice 2 way back in Chapter A. You jump to Chapter A, and pick Choice 2. YOU CANNOT 'jump' to Chapter Z now. You must play your way there, through BCDEFGHI....etc.

In other words, the points you are able to jump to have a memory of the action/decisions you did, and they are only overwritten once you reach those points again, having taken a different path. This makes Chapter 4 especially the part of the game you'll find yourself replaying a lot if you're attempting to get different outcomes.

Make sense?

Yeah, it did. I will push for Coda's episode 1, then going back to start the Chaos route.

Finally started playing this. Story is surprisingly decent and it's got the same old Tactics gameplay I love, but, coming off of FE:A, the game just feels super slow and kind of lacking. I can't speed up/remove animations, highlight enemy ranges, and, my god, is this the worst crafting system ever invented or what. Needlessly time consuming and tedious, I can't think of a single worse one. Seriously, who thought this was a good idea and why?

A few other notes:

-The combination of frequent advantageous high ground for the enemy, slow combat, lots of enemies/the potential for reinforcements, and objectives that only require you to kill the enemy leader lead to zerg rushing the enemy leader (who is often in the middle or front of the group anyways) being the best strategy pretty much every time, which makes the game feel, well, not very tactical. I don't care nearly as much about positioning in this game as I did in FE and, frankly, the game isn't asking enough of me to make me care.

-Archers are op. Especially at high elevation. This is what they consider balanced after tweaking the original?

-
Hold up- refusing the participate in the massacre at Balmamusa is chaotic?! Every dm I've ever played with would consider "ends justify the means" as strictly chaotic while adhering to a strict set of principles regardless of what end bending them could lead to as lawful. Seems straight up backwards, not that I really mind. Just confused.

-Like the class level up system for new recruits, although it does make incorporating new classes into the game a pain. Grinding is, as far as I'm concerned, inarguably flawed game design and I really hate having to do it.

-After FE's rng'd to all hell level up system, I appreciate the relatively predictable statistical growths of the classes in this game. Actually makes specialization planning a worthwhile thing to do.

-Speaking of specialization, I think the skill system is great and love how it rewards specialization over becoming jack of all trades.

Still chugging through Act III Chaos but I must admit my expectations were disappointed/surpassed in different ways. Thought I'd enjoy the gameplay a lot more and the story a lot less.
