Six Flags: Great Adventure, FYI.

The new roller coaster will shatter all existing world records for speed and height by legendary proportions. Truly the "King of Coasters," Kingda Ka will rocket riders horizontally from 0 to 128 mph in 3.5 seconds before vertically catapulting them a mind-blowing 456 feet (45 stories) into the sky at a 90-degree angle. After a brief moment in the clouds, riders descend 418 feet (41 stories) back down to earth in a 270-degree spiral, only to experience another breathtaking moment of weightlessness as they soar over a 129-foot-tall hill (nearly 13 stories) and then glide back into the station.

Eh, Cedar Point will build a bigger and better one.

Also of note: I dunno how Six Flags did it, but they killed off two amusement parks in two years in Ohio, which got bought out by Cedar Point, and are operating well now.

Oh well. :p

If thats goliath behind it i'm shitin in my pants right now. Seriously i thought Goliath was fucking huge. But this doesnt seem that bad its just a vertical launch coaster using LIM tech just like Superman i think. Thats a little too fast for me though 130mph in about 4 seconds and reaching that hight holy shit.

Color me impressed.

EDIT cant wait to see this coaster in Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Muhhahahahaha sick people locked on a rollercoaster from HELL.

Top Thrill Dragster is closed indefinitely though, isn't it?

From the looks of things, Kingda Ka is the exact same thing as TTD.

B-z-Chan, did you ever go on "X"?

They should have been creative and created something like "tallest, longest loop" or something. That would be tight.

yeah i've been on X before. its pretty interesting. Funny enough everyone that was getting on the coaster didnt understand the front was the back and the back was the front of the right. So i got to be on it right in front with no one next to me. Very interesting movement. Felt like one of those gyroscope things they have for kids though, but with the added G-forces of a rollercoaster and wind in your face.

Overall i give it a 8.6

Top 3 coasters at Six Flags:

Coney Island (replica)
Viper
Goliath

Oh and just so you guys know its the same company but differnt coaster (slightly differnt than THD)

Bah. Give me a rickety wooden coaster with great curves and dips over one big smooth-railed ride up and then down again.

...

OK, so I would go on it. But it's all stomach lurch and not that much trhill, from the look of it.

Eh, they copied the Top Thrill Dragster exactly, who cares. Wait until Cedar Point unveils a real coaster bigger than that.

Dude that is insane! Every time I've gone to MM in the last couple of years, X has been closed.

Overall i give it a 8.6

I agree with you on the last two but I don't know about Coney Island. Steel rollercoasters have spoiled me :)

What about that other one that opened the same time as "X"? It's right there next to Coney Island. I can't remember the name, but it's the one that pulls you backwards when it starts, launches the cars off an incline, then repeats the process going backwards when it reaches the end of the track.

Oh, one last thing: I hear they moved Superman to Six Flags Mexico. If that's true, that's fucked up. ^_^

This ride would have bought me had it NOT had the spiral (which lessens the experience of a drop).

This would have been 100x better than TTD had they opted to not have a spiral (the one thing I don't like about TTD).

Holy Crap SAINT They moved freaking SUPERMAN?????!!!!!!!!

Yeah from the looks of the picture i can see it. WOW!!!

I like wooden coasters and theres not that many on the west coast, but that one is my favorite but the other wooden coaster at MM is also great around halloween time cause it goes backwards.

Deja Vu or whatever its called is really just and excuse to have that type of coaster, really nothing special meh

They need to work on making Riddlers Revenge a little more friendly on the prostrate cause man your digging into that bike seat a little to hard due to G-froces. I call it the Nut Crusher.

Other than that my favorite is still Viper by far the best coaster at the park if not just for all the damn loops. Plus is the only sit down double back they have.

Meh, this one has a drop of 418 feet and Dragster has a drop of 400 feet. 18 feet is completely irrelevant. Besides, the whole design is boring. I'll take Millenium Force any day. Far more fun than just being shot up and down.

The worst part about them moving Superman, though, is the fact that it was removed from the park because somebody FLEW OUT OF THE CAR. So what does Six Flags do? Why, move it to Mexico! That's so fucked up I can't even believe it.

Yeah, Riddlers Revenge should be renamed The Nutcrusher.

And Viper is definitely the #1 coaster there. If you've ever seen True Romance, that's the coaster Clarence, Alabama, Cousin Balky & Dick Ritchie went on during the drug deal ("you want me to... suck his dick?!")

Fuck YEAH! I'm so there. when's this beast opening up?

De Ja Vu and Goliath fo' life BTW. X = most overrated ride ever.

Ah Damn! just checked, its in NJ. my frothing demand for this ride to come to majic mountain increases.

That looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Still, I'll have to ride this at least once befoe it collapses and everyone riding it turns into a bloody pulp.

from www.themeparkinsider.com:

An accident occurred Monday at Cedar Point's Top Thrill Dragster. Reports claim a cable broke during the ride, sending shards of metal flying into four riders.

At 420-feet-tall and reaching a top speed of 120 mph, Top Thrill Dragster had the recognition of being the tallest, fastest coaster in the world. It is uncertain when the ride will reopen.

The cable that launches the train frayed, sending metal fragments into the air hitting four riders on the train. The riders had minor injuries; which have been compared to bee stings by some officials. Top Thrill Dragster is currently closed.

"Bee Stings"? FUCK THAT.

I'm a speed junkie. Don't get me wrong the first drop of X is bad ass, but the rest is just too slow for my taste.

Looks like this new ride will more than satisfy my taste.

And I'm sure this will come to MM before you know it.

Ah I see. That's cool. Hey, ever been on the "Desperado" at Buffalo Bill's on the Nevada border? It's fucking a incredible - both fast AND a long (over 5 mins!) ride.

Seriously though, I thought that picture was photoshopped. Now that I know it isn't, Great Adventure here I come.

this ride will be in the new jersey great adventure.

Oh, I didn't know there were two. Back when I was a little kid, my family would go to the Marriott's Great Adventure in Illinois... The Great American Eagle roxxored!!

I saw something on the Discovery channel about how high velocity roller coasters cause the brain to bleed and swell DURING the ride. I can't imagine what sort of damage this beast will do to people's heads.

Six Flags: Great Adventure - I believe - is one of the oldest of the chain.

It's awesome to say the least. I've ridden it the past two years, once each time i was at the park. The jump from the Millenium Force (92mph) to TTD (120mph) is significant. The ride doesn't last that long, but it is like being on a high for 17 or so seconds. I say i'd take a new ride like Millenium Force over a new TTD, though, since the exitement lasts much longer.

Yeah, I hear you about ride length. Nothing like waiting in line for 4 hours just to have the ride be done in 10 seconds!

Thanks for the impressions. Lucky bastid! ;)

Does TTD have a hill after the drop? Looking at the website, I don't think it does.

This will be a great addition to Great Adventure although the lines are going to be insane...will just have to find the right day to go. I was just there a few weeks ago and we did 8 rides in about 5 hours, Nitro being the best ride there.

I recently went on the Big drop in Australia, which is a ride up a 450 foot tall pole, at which point you sit around for about a minute before they drop you, The height was mind bending. Just sitting there waiting was quite the scary. And the drop, it felt like dying.

My favorites are the Superman ride at Darien lake, Superman at Atlanta, and Batman at Atlanta. I've only been to Six Flags Darien Lake and Atlanta tho.

SWEET!!! I wanted to ride TTD at Cedar Point, but I've only been there once and that was 1994. I don't know anyone in Ohio, so it's hard to get out there. But Great Adventure is pretty close to where my sister lives...or at least a short trip away. When this thing opens, I'm so there. I'll drink a gallon of water, pee and shit my pants, and leave the park a happy man. :lol PEACE.
