Looking at these results one might conclude that we are heading to a much less religious world . . . and then I realize this is a sampling of a bunch of video game geeks.

But the non religious is the fastest growing religious identity.

A couple of those questions had answers I didn't really agree with. Question #12 should have had an option for "Faith alone brings salvation" because:

"Adhere strictly to the rites, practices, precepts, commandments, prohibitions, laws, sacraments, or ordinances of the faith to be rewarded after life."

Doesn't really cut it for a Protestant but the "live simply, renounce worldly goals and possessions" is actually pretty applicable to how we're ideally supposed to live.

The question about social programs is also supposed to be true for churches (taking care of widows and orphans) but seems to be rarely practiced :\

... why is that bad? If you demonstrate an ethical code consistent with Secular Humanism (let's say broadly progressive on social issues, belief in re-distributive justice, belief in human betterment through intellectual development and works for others), you should be ranked as a Secular Humanist before a Non-theist.

Non-theism is simply a statement about your affirmation/denial of God, not a statement about your moral code. There are many religions, philosophies, and associations that better represent a particular secular moral code.
Doesn't mean that answering those questions somehow lessen the percentage of anyone's non-theism. The percentage should depend on the amount of distance one wants to have to theism. Surprised me how they grouped together the 'there is no god/unsure/not important', losing a lot of nuance there. N/A should heighten your affinity with apatheism, if anything.

I had a problem with that question too.

The "live simply, renounce worldly goals and possessions" sounded a bit too austere for me.

I went with "Adhere strictly to the rites, practices, precepts, commandments, prohibitions, laws, sacraments, or ordinances of the faith to be rewarded after life.", but there's not really that many of them in Christianity, so your life can remain pretty simple even if following the doctrine closely.

Simple and easy!

Some religions need texts the size of a dictionary, religious big-wigs, weekly sermons, and a tithe/collection system for supporting it all to explain/educate themselves. I need these two sentences.

It does seem interesting how many of us seem to be non-religious, but then I remeber exactly who was taking the tests and posting the scores. Mine isn't really suprising, I was raised with a Jewish mother and Protestant father, but was never really religious myself.

I was raised Seventh Day Adventist at home, Roman Catholic at school and was the estranged son of a Jehovah's Witness. Apparently I'm a Quaker
