It could be. I mean surely you realise a game is not up to standard long before you've spent $53 million on it.

But if they had to pay Sony off for cancelling it then Sony is probably going to want compensating for copies that would have been sold.

With Mafia 3 being the best selling Mafia and the remake of 1 doing very well, I don't see them cancelling Mafia 4 from that team.

They literally made the best selling Mafia game in the series history, its hard to disagree with hard numbers here so Take Two trust that they can deliver as a business they don't see something wrong with setting the record for sales in that IP, I think they did a great job with the remake of 1 too and I can see why Take Two would want to see what they can do with BioShock or a new IP etc, some times it works out, some times it doesn't, but I don't see any evidence that the team can't put out solid work or something.

The only thing really wrong with Mafia 3 in my opinion was mission variety and side stuff. The absence of side stuff made sense though considering the game was revenge focused. Story, setting was excellent. Not sure why people keep giving it a bad rap when there are way worse things.

Well.....maybe, maybe not. I hope its canned if it indeed isn't that great. Several things need to be noted here, Hanger 13 has never made a game like Bioshock and are relatively a new studio, but to in their respect they've never made Mafia either and made 3 and it did great things, so maybe I'm wrong and they could hand them that IP and they do great things, but nonetheless....if they feel the game isn't good enough, maybe we should hope for a good game, not simply Bioshock by any means, regardless etc

Agreed. I like 3 more then the whole series simply based on mechanics alone its more solid then the other titles and I feel gamers tend to exaggerate shit to oblivion. Be like "EVERYONE HATED Mafia 3" moved record units and or "EVERYONE HATES FAR CRY 5 "becomes best selling Far Cry lol I think its just a group of people that want a game or team to do poorly and then get triggered when they don't and the numbers don't support their theory that everyone hates this or that.
