Quentin Tarantino had some choice words for Disney on Wednesday morning when he visited The Howard Stern Show to talk about his upcoming movie, The Hateful Eight.

The director went on quite a lengthy rant about the mistreatment he and his movie were receiving from the studio after they were forced out of Los Angeles' famous Cinerama Dome so Star Wars could play the entire holiday season.

According to Tarantino, the original deal was that The Hateful Eight would be allocated two weeks of exclusive screen time starting on Christmas Day, which makes sense considering the Cinerama Dome is one of the few theaters in L.A. that's already set up to project 70mm films.

"They've got the biggest movie in the world," Tarantino, who sounded extremely upset, told Stern. "We're talking about one effing theater ... they are going out of their way to fuck me."

Star Wars, meanwhile, would get the week before Christmas to play exclusively at the theater, but that all changed when Disney reportedly threatened to pull its movie from the theater entirely unless they broke their contract with The Weinstein Company over The Hateful Eight. This would allow Disney to have exclusive rights to all the screens at the theater to showcase The Force Awakens during the holiday season.

I mean, its pretty clear why. Does Tarantino think Hateful Eight was going to make the theater more money in the near term than Star Wars and that the Weinstein company will bring them more money in the long term?

Does that make him wrong?

No, that is why he had set contracts in place to secure a spot for his film.

I can tell contractual agreements don't mean much to you...

Not surprised in the slightest... I'm sure Disney is seeing so much green, they don't even care.

Perfect picture. Disney has really turned into a greedy and shitty company. Maybe they always were. Their brands have turned junk as well, ESPN etc. Their only success really comes from buying up other successful brands, Pixar, Marvel, now Lucasfilm.

It's one thing if there was no agreement in place, but Disney essentially strong armed the theater into breaking their contract.

Disney has been greedy and shitty forever. Just look at copyright law. Been fucking the public domain while pilfering it for stories since forever.

Pretty fucking scummy. How did the exhibitor manage to break their contract with TWC without putting themselves at risk of a lawsuit? This does not seem like the kind of thing Harvey Weinstein would just wave off.

Frozen says hi..

Seriously, that's far from the truth. Disney's own IP's make bank.

Disney has always been the type of company to straight up out flex the fuck out of you if they have to. I mean alot of companies would, but they do this shit like it aint nothing.

lmao, wow. Too perfect. How the fuck can they legally get away with strong arming the chain? Or the chain from breaking their contract with TWC? I'm hyped as hell for both SW and Hateful 8, but this is just shit.

They probably figure that the cost of contract breaking/exit is less than the cost of losing Star Wars. Disney are basically forcing them to chose how much money they want to lose, a paddling pool full or a swimming pool full.

It makes me so mad that Disney built their success off the public domain and then burnt it to the ground so nobody else could.

He needs to negotiate harsher remedies for breach of contract then. Sucks for him. I feel him. But he knows Hollywood. He knows money talks above all. He has nobody to be angry at but himself.

Can you elaborate on this. I'm aware a lot of their larger movies are old folk tales but if they are public domain how do they keep anyone else from making movies from them?

Yeah, maybe they had second thoughts when they saw your trailer and the movie looked like 2 night Lonesome Dove mini series. No one wants to sit through that shit.

Quentin the martyr. Everyones out to get him and his characters.

What are you event talking about? I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with their thoughts (or yours) on his movie and everything to do with Disney's much bigger wallet

Well I highly doubt that is what they think or the reason behind it. And if hateful eight is how lonesome dove is, sign me up for some dove watching. But, I would say it looks more like a reservoir dog film in a Sergio Leone film skin.

Plus, I'm excited as most people to see Star Wars but you could say "Why would I want to sit in theaters for an over two hour possible retread of the first Star Wars movie"?

Now on one hand, it's shitty what Disney is doing. Reaaaally shitty.

But on the other hand, I'm kinda happy when bad things happen to Taraintino because he's kind of an asshole.

Still hope the movie is good and does well.

If I was running a theater for the next 30 days what movie would i want?
The 3 hour Western or the 2 hour most anticipated movie of all time. Sorry Quentin. Isnt his movie a Roadshow anyway. Those things used to travel the country for 9-10 months. Your mini series will get its time.

-EDIT-
Plus, he sounds like a baby. They are out to get me! No, they are out to make money.

Regardless of your personal feelings about Tarantino, if what he is asserting is accurate and they had a deal already in place, Disney basically strong armed and threatened economic repercussions to force the cinema to break a pre-existing deal. They basically extorted the cinema in the oxford dictionary sense of the word...

...And you are defending Disney. SMFH. I guess in your mind unethical behavior is alright as long as you don't like an aspect of something or someone that is a victim to it or you like the person/organization committing it.

You make some of the strangest posts.

It's to the point that I see your icon and I get excited because I have no idea what I'm about to read, but I know that it will be amusing.
