Bingo. And maybe it takes a loooong time to heal back up to 600HP. Or maybe you can only heal up to 600HP once per life.
 
I hope the engy gets the return of the explodable dispenser and sentry gun. One of the fun things about TFC is binding detsentry and detdispenser to mouse buttons and blowing unsuspecting spies up when they get too close. A fully stocked dispenser is scary.

I think it's pretty clear why Valve has been hinting at this update for so long now. They take a lot of unfair crap for their delays, but it always results in polish and balance that's second to none. Clearly it's taken them a little longer to find a proper balance that doesn't break things. But I'd be willing to bet there's gonna be tradeoffs that aren't gonna make any one technique a slam dunk over the other. It's just gonna be what kind of strategy does your team wanna use.

This post contradicts my earlier post a little, but I've regained my sanity and have placed my faith back in Valve. They're the only company I would trust to pull this off (Although I still hate the unlockable part and think it's beneath them.)

This is how I interpreted it as well.

I wonder if all the changes will be to secondary weapons (since the medigun is technically secondary) or if they'll just be to a class's defining feature (since healing/ubering is obviously the main difference between medics and everyone else). I just wonder what they'll do with classes like the heavy, aside from possibly giving him a lighter, weaker minigun that doesn't take as long to spin up/doesn't slow him down as much while spinning, but does less damage or has way less ammo (or even has to be reloaded).

I mean, I could see different, easy to balance new secondary weapons for a lot of classes, but some of their primaries/defining weapons would be hard to offer some modified form of.

I think I'm more excited about the return of the escort mode, though... especially since they've done the right thing (with goldrush, anyway) and made the thing you escort into an invulnerable item instead of someone that can be killed, like the VIP in TFC.

I like the idea of new weapons, though Valve's going to have to be extremely careful to avoid wreaking havoc with the balance. Tying them to achievements is pretty annoying. :(

I like the rest of the stuff, but eewwwww ... achievements unlocking weapons? Very lame, Valve. People don't play medic because they like killing things. Once everyone unlocks the achievements, they'll just drop the class again.

I agree that the unlocking portion sucks. I mean I'm going to go for the achievements anyway because they're fun to me (maybe I'm a whore just a little, or at least an OCD completionist, I need some friends for that last achievement, someone help me!), but having to get the achievements to unlock the quasi-classes is just a bad idea.

thats a map control..... whatever server u played on it, probably was the creaters or a custom version made for them

Man that's the first time I've been kicked for a reserved slot after actually connecting. I was having fun too. ;_;

Still, though, good games. I hate when kak kills me on the opposing team, but I like being his personal bitch (medic). Good times.

Yeah, those were pretty sweet. I used to put one at the top of the backstairs to detect spies sneaking past on 2fort and one blocking the gas chamber in rock2. It was always hard for me to time them right though since the smarter enemies would run back as soon as they bumped into them.

Be glad you missed it. Map loading is still a little glitchy. I locked myself out of the server after mapchanging it. :lol

I knew well was going to have a CTF. On top floor, there is a sign that says intelligence. People thought I was crazy saying that there was an intelligence sign up there...

Man, I noticed that and the intel room with the desk like the first time I played the map and didn't know where I was going. I guess cluelessness FTW.

Yeah, there's actually a room with intelligence in it on the map. In the hallways between the final and second to last cap point.

Okay now I was kicked for reserved slot. Then I try coming back in and I keep getting kicked for reserved slot. That's funny... I thought I had one...
 
Yeah I don't understand the reserved slot system either.

I thought it works like:

person on the server for the shortest time = gets kicked in reserved player joins

But last time I had been on the server for ~30 mins and get kicked, but there were 4 people with less than ~30mins play time remain. They weren't even GAFers and I highly doubt they were donators.

Last night I couldn't even get on because it kept kicking me with the 'reserved slot' message as soon as I connected even though I have a reserved slot. Maybe Icy was making changes?

Scored 3/100 on an Exam
So I've been having this problem with steam the last few days..
Every time I turn on the steam overlay the game goes all "stuck" ish, even in menus or something, totally unplayable.. I guess it's like I have 5000 ping or something. It works fine after I restart the game (don't have to restart steam).
Tried it with a few games and it's all the same.. anyone ever had this problem? I updated my drivers and all that bullshit..

thats something they are looking into apparently as its messing up stats. Most other FPS games like CoD 4,etc have certain restrictions on what type of mods,etc can be setup if it all to allow those stats to be reported/tracked on the master server. However, it's going to be very difficult for valve. As each mod is so different and that the admin stuff uses mods as valve themselves has no real admin support built in. So if they were to take and put in a pure no mod server restriction right now, none of the admin mods would work.

Do you have a firewall up that sets permissions by application? If so, give access to GameGUI or whatever it's called. I kind of had the same problem, except my overlay wouldn't come up if I didn't give it permissions in the firewall to connect.

I wish we could reset individual stats so I could reset my Medic ubercharge one. I have 14 but that's back at the beginning when ubercharges weren't tracked properly.

Finally beat my record on the amount people killed in a single life as Pyro. Doubt I'll ever beat 21 kills now though.:lol

The pyro on the right is AFK, he left the mouse pointing to the cieling. After a while a couple of player joined him into the cieling staring. A good way to loose :lol

After the scrimmage yesterday, Nob and I were on and the server with Twig for a while and people started slowly trickling in. Nob turned himself into a huge demoman and just sat in the sky. Everybody got distracted but my team members were especially mesmerized.

I started yelling at him because he was distracting us too much and we were all getting killed. :lol

been released. Please run hldsupdatetool to receive these updates.
The
specific changes include:

- Added new capture the flag map CTF_Well
- Added Spanish map descriptions
- Added new option to auto-save a scoreboard screenshot at the end of a
map to the Multiplayer->Advanced dialog
- Added more particle optimizations for mid range and low end hardware
- Updated CP_GravelPit to fix all known exploits and changed the
scoring
method to score per capture rather than per round
- Updated "nextlevel" CVAR to trigger a changelevel at the end of the
current round (not mini-round)
- Fixed SourceTV demo recording problem
- Fixed mp_stalemate_enable not preventing Sudden Death mode on some
maps
- Fixed a couple cases where player stats were not being recorded
correctly
- Fixed some log entries being truncated
- Fixed crash caused by trying to import a custom player spray
- Removed the "Reset Stats" button from the Player Stats screen

there's 2 changes for ctf_well as far as i can tell: 1) the only spawn that's left is the second one and 2) this, which i'm about to show you in glorious paint jpg compression:

it leads to the ledge in the middle, so the center part of the base won't be so easy to hold.
