Teardown of PS5 Slim revision

GoldenEye98

posts news as their odd job

- Plastic is now entirely matte
- Storage is back down to 825GB
- Weighs slightly less than first slim model
- Power consumption is the same as first slim model

Many people were complaining about the glossy finish of the top part and the middle black part. If it is not cheap-looking, it could be a point in its favor.

Nothing can make me click an Austin Evan's video

He just tore down the revised PS5 slim. What have you ever done?

Idk about him. But I beat legacy of the wizard on nes at age 13 with no guide and I didn't smile the whole time let alone a doofus YouTube grin.

That's easily harder than unscrewing a console.

So it uses the older 12-channel SSD controller instead of the newer 8-channel one. What a wacky choice to have completely different PCBs just to make this model.

So much pearl-clutching over a product that the people complaining weren't ever going to buy!

The increase to 1tb from the 825gb that all PS5's came with happened in November 2023, and I don't seem to recall people thinking it was a big deal at the time.

So, basically its back to the same storage capacity as was normal for most of the PS5's existence... Won't somebody think of the children!?!

You pay more for less. What a deal!

'We upgrade the storage, but consumers wouldn't give a fuck so we go back to less storage'.

lmao

- Matte is great
- I can still survive with 600GB + 1TB SATA SSD for PS4 games and NVME's is so cheap now anyway. Ridiculous non the less!
- Biggest disappointment is there is still no die shrinkage which would have lead to less power consumption.
- Interesting new hopefully improved quieter fan. All plastic means less pesky vibrations hopefully
