Seems like Cruz and Sanders will agree that Obamacare is bad, but somehow end up supporting the same/similar policy - giving Trump the support of Bernie's people and more importantly extra votes in the Senate and House to pass policy to replace Obamacare with single payer healthcare or something along those lines.

Without some Democrat support he can't get it though without having to compromise within the Republican Party due to Lobbyists.

Ted Cruz did not just suddenly decide to debate Sanders this has Trump written all over it.

Then reward Cruz with being the next nomination to the Supreme Court after the next justice steps down or dies. This will ensure that people know that if you do whatever Trump says you'll be rewarded, and if you don't you'll be punished. This fends off any impeachment threats from within the Party.

Have no fears, we got primary season for years. How 'bout a crazy debate? Maybe Romney downloads Snapchat. Or Jeb gets designer socks.

Don't get baited into criticizing Obamacare. Don't get baited into criticizing Obamacare. Don't get baited into criticizing Obamacare. Don't get baited into criticizing Obamacare. Don't get baited into criticizing Obamacare.

That's my big fear going into this.

Don't get wrong, Bernie's fighting the good fight now. But anybody who paid any attention to the primaries knows Bernie isn't the biggest fan of the ACA. And Cruz is a master-class debater when he's not up against a clown. He's going to go into this debate knowing that, and with the goal of using every trick up his sleeve to draw Bernie into a criticizing the ACA for yummy soundbites for the GOP to use.

In what universe is Ted Cruz going to support a medicare for all program? Cruz advocates raising the eligibility age.

It's probably not a popular opinion, but, he'd have my vote again in a heartbeat.
Agreed. Or a candidate with the same principles.

I'm thinking Biden will finally throw his hat in, Booker will probably run, Cuomo I think is setting up a run as well.

How in the world can Lyin' Ted show his face in public after all of the Ls he took in 2016?

It's become quite clear that nothing sticks with the GOP's voting base. At least not enough to matter.

That's a nice trap for Cruz. Sanders won't defend Obamacare, he'll make the case for what Trump should do. Sanders might manage to pull Trump in a less than worst-ever position on this if Cruz looks like a fool with his right-wing bullshit.

Might even be a plan by Trumpbannon to win some support on this from Dems/center voters who care.

Will he win the nomination this time though? Depends on who else is running. He'll probably lose again if another minority-friendly candidate runs against him again.

He'd run as an independent, no? I thought he left the Democratic party late last year.

He might be popular enough to get on the ballot in all 50 states, so he might not have to worry about nomination.

Bernie has defended ACA plenty. And he probably will again. But hell of course push for Single Payer. And Cruz will boogeyman the shit out of it to his dumb conservative base.

Yeah he's really gotta find a way to appeal better to make Minorities. It's strange- he's got the chops. But people just didn't gravitate.

Booker must not run. Dems won't attack him over his record or corruption, and he has a chance getting through. Cuomo would be beaten easily by Biden. But I don't think any of them are the right person for 2020. Maybe Biden, but it's still too far. Not Cuomo or Booker.

Ted, please bring a bucket for your tonsil stones this time so we don't have to watch you eat that shit on live television.

You disgusting man.

Btw you were disgusting before the tonsil stone incident. It just helped to symbolize it ya know?

First tragedy, then farce.
Bernie,.

Why are you normalizing these shitbags. Feels like an attention seeking initiative that will serve as a distraction from the resistance to Trump himself.

Especially considering Bernie is just going to argue against Obamacare too.

And essentially hand the election to the Republicans? He'll cut into the Democratic Party's base in the General if he runs as an Independent. He'll have no choice but to run as a Democrat. Run against a minority-friendly candidate like Hillary (without the "scandals" and stuff), he'll lose again for sure.

I'd place a bet that if Hillary ran again, she will most likely win over Bernie again, though maybe by a smaller margin. (Hope she doesn't run again, but IF)

He only joined the Dem party to run. He's never been a Dem.

Agreed. I'd grill the SHIT out of Booker if I were Bernie.

Actually, instead of Obamacare, I'd rather Ted Cruz answer this question:

How do you, a person who claims to have a strict, absolute view of the Constitution, justify the Trump administration? At all?

EDIT: It's too soon for 2020. I happen to think the Democratic nominee for 2020 is someone who is barely, if at all, in the national spotlight right now.

If I recall Trump wanted a system similar to Australia where everyone can have health care provided by the Government. The Government negotiates the drug prices. Private providers also provide healthcare but mainly survive because of a extra surcharge on top of the Medicare levy you have to pay if you don't have private health insurance. So it's not free healthcare.

https://www.ato.gov.au/Individuals/Medicare-levy/

I'd say he be going toward those lines.

Otherwise wtf could you possibly replace Obamacare with? Anything else would be worse. Then why even have the debate?

Medicare in the USA is only for those above 65 (which will be increased by the sounds of it). And social security is about to be gutted as well - sigh this is going to only worsen crime - which would be exactly what Trump wants since it makes it easier to pass harsher laws.

Might even be a plan by Trumpbannon to win some support on this from Dems/center voters who care.

Yep.

Yeah, I have the same worries. (and Biden will be pushing 80, so yeah...). I have no idea.

Agreed with the bolded, I'm just saying if he wants to run, he may not have to worry about getting the Dem nomination.

That would guarantee a continuation of the Trump Presidency and even Bernie would know that. And he only joined the democratic party when he ran for president.

Things will fall where they will and people better get in line to vote for not-Trump whether that's someone like Bernie or Booker. Get over it.

Ted is just going to use Bernie to say how both sides think the ACA is terrible so hey lets destroy it then.

I don't think Bernie is suited to defend the ACA against Cruz at all.

I hope he proves me wrong but I think Bernie is making a horrible mistake.

The ACA is gone. It's inevitable.

The argument is going to be what takes its place.

This might shock some people, but Sanders did vote for it, and you can also defend something in the short-term as a net positive while simultaneously thinking there's a far better long term solution to keep fighting for.

As far as the debate goes this is...odd. I do wonder how much he will bring up Medicare-for-All though in addition to "defending Obamacare". Anything to get that message out there to the mainstream is a net positive imo.

bu...bu...bu...but gaf told me he's a bad man!

I'm looking forward to it.

And I promise you all Ted Cruz will say is that the magical mystery thing that will replace the affordable care act will be something along the lines of patients now having more options.

Yep.

PATIENT CHOICE

CHOOSE YOUR OWN DOCTOR

GET THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF YOUR HEALTHCARE

SOCIALIST MEDICINE

Ted Cruz is going to bludgeon Bernie with all of these talking points that he knows like the back of his hand. He won't be caught-flat footed unless Bernie comes with his facts and figures loaded.

Revisionist history. Off topic supported Bernie, Poligaf supported Hillary.

I wasn't really a member at the time but I am a long time lurker, but that was only true for the early primaries it seemed- later on Bernie supporters were dogpiled and called all sorts of nasty things, so it seems they didn't bother engaging in any discussion at all.

If Bernie does anything, he should really use the way Cruz made fun of Trump for saying that people wouldn't be dying in the streets against him.

Lol huh? Were you even here?

I sure was. If you want to ignore all the posts that supported Bernie to feed your persecution complex, that's up to you.
