There was nothing Ralston wouldn't licence and slap in a cereal in the 80's, lol.

Did anyone else have the bank that was shrink wrapped onto this cereal? I'll find a picture... [EDIT] Found one on eBay for $4.99US. I told Mom it'd be worth something someday.

Oh, heck yeah! They didn't really cancel the Ecto Cooler, BTW. Hi-C made it orange (it was green) and labeled it 3-4 names until it was finally culled under the "Crazy Citrus" banner. I loved that crap... and yes, I am a Ghostbusters nerd.
[EDIT] Oh my glorious gawd damn...
http://80splayset.blogspot.com/2010/02/breakfast-cereals-by-ralston-part-1.html

I didn't think I remembered so many of these crappy cereals
(and now I'm wondering if I developed some deep, psychological cereal love that's influenced my career choice... stupid Freud)
. I bet still have that Gizmo somewhere...
Wait... so I can get this right now? I'm about to hit up the store, get some rice chex and marshmallows and some Crazy Citrus Hi-C.

EDIT: ... "In 2007, Crazy Citrus Cooler was discontinued" :-(

We made some of the alcoholic version a couple of years ago for Halloween:

http://www.zimbio.com/Halloween/articles/114/Halloween+Drink+Recipe+Ecto+Cooler

1 package of Lemon Lime Kool-Aid. You read it right Kool-Aid.

1 Lemon sliced

1 Lime sliced

1 cup of sugar

20 oz Vodka- I recommend the cheap stuff. No sense mixing Gray Goose with Kool-Aid. A bottle of Popov will do nicely.

Not the same... but after 3-4 you won't really care

Man, I loved TMNT cereal. We had all the bowls. Then a few years ago I remembered it and asked my mom where they were and she said they were given away years ago... Noooooooooo! Those would be awesome to have now. I would eat cereal out of them all the time.

I miss that cereal. It was the BEST cereal ever. The marshmallows and sugar coated chex-type cereal was a great combination. It was the best cereal Ralston-Purina made back then. All the rest of their cereals at the time were the same thing. Which included every licensed cereal. Nintendo Breakfast System, The Addams Family, Batman were all the same stuff with different flavoring. And you know what?

I actually LIKED that shit. But the TMNT cereal was the best. THE BEST, JERRY. No one makes a cereal like it anymore. And these days all licensed cereals are made by Kellogg's instead. It's like some point 10 years ago Kellogg's said, "Hey, you know, we made a mistake turning down all those licenses back in the day. So let's make every cereal any movie/TV/product producer brings to us. Hannah Montana? WHERE DO I SIGN!?"

Fuck you, Kellogg's. You're not the same. And fuck you, Purina, for stopping making a cereal for a TV show that hasn't been popular in 20 years. Damn I miss it. Sooo much.

The Batman cereal was this in a different shape.
This is so awkward and hilarious I had to make it into an avatar.

But I don't think I could use it.

[QUOTE=Marty Chinn]Anyone else?

[img]*Smurfs cereal*

I have forgotten these have existed for about 20 years. 20+ for the Smurf's cereal. I just had a massive rush of nostalgia looking at them. I can taste the Turtle pies now: I ate so many of those fucking things!

Even though it's been 25 years since I've eaten Smurfs and I had forgotten them I can suddenly remember the flavor on my tongue.

Fuuuuuuuuuuck. I might have to ebay them.

Also, anyone remember this? I remember the stickers I got, but can't remember the flavor of the cereal...which wasn't important since the toys were the most important part:

What... The fuck... Is THAT?
Some shitty live action TMNT tv show to try and compete with the Power Rangers craze at the time. Don't bother watching it.

Also, NEED A FUCKING TIME MACHINE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am, too. I hope he lets us bundle for cheaper prices. I want like 5 or 6 of those.

if you check out his ebay store, he's got other categories too, including video games. I am definitely going to order some tonight after I ask my significant other if she wants any as well

If I could go back in time, it would be for three things:

1) to see dinosaurs
2) to spend some time in Deadwood as it was going up

3) bringing a forklift or pallet jack and bringing back large quantities of FRESH, classic cereals.

Oh shit, I didn't see that. This is going to be bad.

That one can't be forgotten. It was immortalized in Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.

What´s wrong with tropical oils?

Crazy world of the 1980s and 1990s, where substances that have been in the human diet since we became homo sapiens (saturated fats - coconuts/palm, the kinds of oils that you can extract with simple tools and hands) are unhealthy, but eating tubs of sugar is healthy because it's low in fat herp a derp. Government agencies recommended low fat pasta over eggs because it was low in fat and therefore would both help you lose fat and help heart disease. Worked out fantastic, didn't it?

This thread inspired me to look for my Leonardo cereal bowl.

I had my Leonardo bowl saved for years and years, so I was sure I still had it SOMEWHERE. But no, it's nowhere to be found. It's gone! :(

I was disappointed when they stopped making that one. We eventually just started making double batches with one packet Grape and one packet Lemonade; it tasted the same, but I still missed the dinosaur.

Can this be about any 80s-90s breakfast?

Anyone else remember UnderCover Bears Oatmeal? It was a packet of instant oatmeal that had gummy bears dredged in oatmeal flakes and when submerged in water would bloat up and float to the top of your bowl.

I seem to recall them having several different flavors but my mom always bought stawberry and cinnamon-sugar

Apparently there was a difference between Ameircan and Canadian TMNT cereal. Ours was actually green.

Canada represent.

None of that whack-ass dime-a-dozen marshmellow bullshit, Canadians got the real manly stuff.
