I played a good deal of it today with raven. Im not well versed in my tekken but from what ive been told by people who are good that its sort of similar to 3 as far as combos and stuff, with some 4 mixed in.

There is one stage that sucks because its too dark and green. otherwise the graphics are nice. The card system is okay i guess, you get a name, 500 matches per card and items are really expensive you cant preview any of it either which kinda blows. Fortunately the wall cheapness is all but gone (although still pretty abusable) Long range throwing is a god send and improved throw escape animations are a really nice improvement as far as match flow and placement is concerned. Raven is a cool character he has some galford esque disappearing moves and a cool 2p outfit.

yeah.

Anyone try Asuka yet?

For real, the Kikizo video of her fighting was pretty awesome. She would be the first character I'd tried out.

I want to play Raven first above anyone else. His second player costume looks awesome. I'm worried Asuka might play too much like Jun, I need something fresh.

You can unlock items in this game, right? I hope they implement a cool mode that's something like VF4's quest modes for the home version. Namco has to step it up, they used to be home port gods but the VF4 series' modes are vastly superior to those of Tekken's.

the 500 matches per card thing is also in VF4 too iirc, so it's basically the same system. The high price for items is okay since there's Tekken Roulette, where you can get a maximizer of 2 - 10 of the gold you win per match. I got the roulette 3 times in a row and got closer to 10K gold instead of the usual 3K I would've had for winning those matches.

Nevermind, I found T5 at a hole-in-the-wall arcade in Hachioji :D

Damn this game is gorgeous (yet VF4 still seems to look better)

And I'm glad that free-walking was apparently removed, only method of free movement I liked was in SC1, and I've been questioning its relevance in 3D fighters for awhile now. Stepping is good enough imo.

Of all the characters I tried, Asuka wasn't one of them.. the arcade was closing in 30 minutes so I had to hold off on any serious playtime.

I'll give the game another whirl when the arcade opens tomorrow.
