Tekken 7 - Lucky Chloe revealed

Did people forget harada was a Id@l M@ster fan?

Lol so much backlash everywhere over chloe. Tekken seems to add a character in every new game to cater to everykind of fan and everyone was okay until chloe showed up, geez....

Chloe is the cutesy/pink girly character steriotype that pops up in most fighting games.

Street Fighter: Ingrid
Darkstalkers: Felicia or Lilith and maybe Hsien-ko. ( Felicia got a pass cause of the partial nudity im guessing...)
King of Fighters: Mingon Beart and Athena and a few others.
Dead or Alive: Marie Rosa
And dont get me started on poverty fighters....

I used to think tekkens pink cutesy girl was Alyssa. But she dosent have the personality of one and I prefer her that way. I like Chloe and welcome her with open arms.

Now where the hell is that awesome looking Arab dude?

Edit: oh geez top of the page....

I think he's being saved until the bitching about this troll character subsides. I thought people were all about the game play but in reality is much more complex than that. :P

I'm playing a bit of devil's advocate here, but there's a difference between adding a bear with a joke move and adding a girl so obviously designed to move merch that it feels like parody. It would be less jarring if we had characters like this since day one, but this type of character design didn't really start happening until 6BR.

Nina has been in fairly early on. And Christie debuted in T4. I'm not a fan of this design, but acting like this is a new thing is pretty unusual. It just happens this time, the male base is a niche.

ok for real..... now they are unveiling new characters and I STILL don't have solid confirmation that my girl Nina Williams is in Tekken 7? The feeling of dread increases :(

Except that Chloe doesn't even have her own fighting style. She's just a mix of capo, Lili, and Xiaoyu moves. So in all respects – gameplay, design, and aesthetic consistency with the rest of the cast – this character falls far short of the mark.

Until I can play X character I won't make an assumtion. People thought Phase 4 would be a Misyt knock off, that bitch plays completely differently even having shared moves. :P

Disgusting.

I think I'm done with Tekken forever.

Common sega, step up and give me VF6 already.

VF already has Eileen, which is just as cutesy and annoying and can be dressed even 'worse' with VF5's customizations. Nothing wrong with these types of characters being an option.

Hate characters like this. Going to be mad infuriating losing to her...I already cant take losing to the robot girl.

I'm not a huge fan of the character but quitting a game forever because of one character choice? People are nuts.

FGC people are like this all the time. They come back around.

Troll character? Yeah. I'll main her for a while. Just to get those reactions.

I don't know what's more infuriating, the character or people ok wih the character simply because they know they're good at the game so "no big deal". What I mean is, of course you're not going to abandon a game you've spent hundreds of hours perfecting and competing with like minded peers. But is there really no part of you that can look at it from another POV and realize that ever since Lili's introduction, there has been a shift in design choice for Tekken and its characters? Some of us disapprove of such a thing and it takes away why some of us got into Tekken.

If you're quitting Tekken over one character you weren't a fan anyway. The gameplay will always be there. I don't like the design myself but there's enough characters to go around.

The Williams sisters have been in the series since the original, theyre every bit as much "pandering" as Lucky Chloe. As the cast expanded so did the "pandering" to, well, more or less everything at this point, considering the size of the cast its more about cast variety than pandering. But people who think this is some kind of departure in either design or approach are choosing to be willfully ignorant of the series up until now, whether thats previous character designs, ending fmvs, etc. Its ok not to like the character, Im not crazy about her, but dont try and dress that dislike up as something its not.

I've been looking at it through that POV since the first Tekken. The moment Alex, Roger, Mokujin, Kuma, and Panda became playable characters I knew that there were no boundaries for character styles. The only reason people are pissy about Chloe is just because they are so conveniently aware of the culture she's derived from. I think its equally hilarious and pathetic that people can overlook characters changing into demons, boxing kangaroos and dinosaurs, and a piece of wood that can mimic every fighter's moves. These are totally okay, but hold the fucking phone when they decide to add an idol with cat paws to mix. All of a sudden a line was crossed, one that neither I nor Harada-san, nor the many other Tekken fans were aware of. What the fuck?

There are dinosaurs, kangaroos, fighting fucking pandas, robot girls, a fucking space ninja (who looks like a cockroach in 4), and Dr. B, who farts around the battlefield, literally.

I have no sympathy for those who pretend to have been with Tekken and rail on the design of something just as bad as the other games and people who aren't going to play a fighter over one or two characters.

You can really tell who and who doesn't play fighters in this topic. I'm not saying you can't be annoyed, but if this is offputting you probably don't want to play most fighters because it's the same shit.

I rewatched the trailer thinking she'd be more tolerable with an English VA aka Marie Rose. Then I remembered Tekken has no such options, this character is going to speak Engrish no matter what.

People are complaining about new characters at least since Lili, actually. Especially since since T6/BR.
Including people hating rage/bound. Shit really hit the fan with the announcement of supers.

Aesthetics mean alot to me in this day and age to justify a $60 purchase. The same character designs ten years later and shitty new characters goes a long way in preventing a purchase.

Those were all hidden, unlockable and guest characters. This is an actual attempt at a new character advertised to sell us on their new game. Big difference.

Yeah but those are joke characters or characters who were meant to be weird. There was also a better balance back then. Kuma and Roger were funny because they were juxtaposed with the rest of the roster.

Since 2005 the new characters have been more anime and fetish characters than the traditional amped up real fighting style characters. Now this one is the most blatant. She is so over the top she doesn't seem real.

No...this is just one character in a game of many diverse ones.

You guys are acting like she is replacing Kazuya or Jin. Tekken has added joke characters in every game and has a ton of them...I'm a perplexed that THIS is what crosses the line.

ITS ONE CHARACTER.

I don't even like moe like that but it's not going to stop me from playing the game. This is not Arcana Hearts (no offense)

So if we make her an unlockable that makes it okay then
If they announced three really great character designs with realistic fighting styles and then had this one jokey thing, then yeah, cool I guess. But we have a Lars/Jin anime alt with magic arrows, another Christie type and another Lili with the Xiaoyu anime alt design. Not looking so good.

Luckily you have 20+ other returning characters to choose from.

Not everything has to fit your tastes.

To be fair, the MK ninjas have through lots of marginal redesigns while keeping their core intact through all these years. I think it is great what they have done in the regard.

If that is a Mk ninja avatar. Its blurry and I'm on mobile, haha.

Yoshi wasn't a hidden character and Kuma/Panda is usually selectable from the get go nowadays. Jack is a mainstay as well. And unlocks make a difference?

Like I said, you can tell the difference between those who play and those who want to comment.

You mean Devil wasn't anime? Because he was super anime. And Nina has always been fetish level with her outfits. If anything there is a better balance now because there are literally more serious characters than joke ones.

You guys keep moving that goalpost on what you find acceptable when it's a fighting game. It's so silly but hey, if that really stops you from buying it, I guess you won't play many fighters.

So this looks just like the pajams from MK1 or 2 or 3? Similar design, different approach.

Hwoarang T3-4-5 all simikar designs, different approach. Hwoarang from T5 on... exact same design.
